Katniss

I wake up in an unfamiliar bed. The walls feel like they cave in. I look up and see my sister smiling at me. I Immediately calm down and heart rate resembles normalcy.

"Hey little duck," I smile. Sliding doors shoot open and Peeta walks in.

"Someone's awake," he says, sitting on the edge of the bed.

"Where are we? How long was I out?"

"We're in the hovercraft heading to district 13. You were only asleep for about an hour. You saved so many people, Katniss." he tells me.

I sit up and see my arms are covered in bandages. Not a single part of my body hurts.

"Why don't I feel anything?" I ask, horrified.

"You caught on fire because of a bomb that was within a ten foot radius. They've taken expensive, miracle working medicines from the Capitol. The rebels really do know what they're doing," informs Prim, carrying her cat. My mother checks my bandages before taking them off. My arms don't show any sign of burns.

As the doors shoot open again, I squint my eyes to see Finnick, Haymitch, Effie, and Plutarch.

"Well?" I look at them. They know what I'm asking.

"We got them out." Says Haymitch nervously.

Before I can smile, my eyes widen at his tone.

"Why do you say it like that?"

Peeta grabs my hand and has me lay against the bed frame.

"Honey, our tributes escaped the arena with the help of them and Plutarch. There's something you should know."

Peeta says, as he places his hand gently on my face, pushing away the hair covering my eyes.

My heart drops to my stomach as I brace myself for the news to come.

Raina

The vibe that the cave gives off is unsettling, even more than the rose maze. It reaches nightfall, and the careers all leave their treehouse to go night hunting. To fulfill their need for blood. Yah damn vampires. I don't know how we all managed to agree to scope it out and go inside, but we head up there. I'm confused on why the inside is lit up from my view near the cave.

"I don't want to get caught." I whisper more to myself as I walk up the steps. Talisa carefully peeks her head in and gasps slightly. She just stands there, dumbfounded. My curiosity gets the best of me, and I push past everyone to see what awaits.
My eyes wander to various weapons, and a strongly lit fire pit in the center. Piles of food. Sponser food. In the back left corner there lays something I can't see without stepping all the way in.

"It's a dead body." Says Roman, seeing my confusion as he is pacing around the perimeter of the treehouse. The sounds of feet echo into my ears, and I'm the first to notice.

"Someone's coming."

Peeking out the window, Kolton warns us about the careers making their way towards us.

"We need to move."

Taking as many items as I can, I shove them into my pack and I use a log and tip over the fire, causing it to rapidly spread.

"Everyone get out!"

The treehouse bursts into flames.

We retreat and book it for the cave. Running through the grass and dirt, I feel my shirt being yanked from behind.

A headlock. I instantly grab the buff, muscular arms that cut off my breathing and I yank them downward as I poke my fingers in the eye of my attacker. My arms still entangled, I maneuver my legs and push him off of me.

" How could you let her do that!" A girl career yells at the male tribute out to kill me.

"The child thinks she's tough, doesn't she? I'll show you tough." She runs for me like a bull.

As she sprints, I subtly reach for my knife in my belt and as her body comes intact with mine, the knife pierces under her ribcage.

"Don't underestimate the kid, you filthy bitch."
I mutter under my breath, crawling off her.

The games are making me heartless. For a moment, I forget my reasoning here. To help my allies.

Remember who the real enemy is.

Bloody knife still in hand, I prepare for the male tribute to slowly kill me for stabbing his ally. I throw the knife as he sends his sword flying toward my head. He misses completely whereas I duck. My knife impales him in the arm. He grunts, pulling the knife from his right arm and examines the wound. We've swapped weapons. I scramble to pick up the sword while he is distracted. He soon runs for me, ready to strike. He's pushed to the ground. Kolton disarms him while fist fighting on the ground, and soon slits his throat.

"Go, go, go!" He yells at me to follow our other two tributes who are running to the cave. My mind is distracted and my attention is taken toward the burning treehouse. I'm about to take off running when a knife is thrown at Kolton's leg. He goes face planting into the dirt but instantly redeems himself. I take my knife from the dead tribute and throw it to Kolton's attacker. He's hit in the eye, and is desperately trying to take it out without bleeding to his death.

"Run!" He tells me. We've killed three out of the four careers who were left. Where is the last one? My question is quickly answered when she appears from behind Kolton. I scream his name to warn him.
She takes some type of rope and starts chocking him.
I recognize the girl. The district 4 tribute. She seems to be enjoying herself. I yank her blonde ponytail and pull hard all the way to the ground. I don't like the girl fighting, but how else was I going to get her off him?
I slip on bloody dirt and bust my ass, landing on top of the girl. I accidentally slip out the words,
"Haha, oops sorry," and I mentally slap myself for it.

"Okay innocent school girl, cut the act."

She pushes me off her, and I remain kneeling because she grabs a hold of me, a sharp knife close to my throat.

"Please, remem-" she cuts off my voice.

"Give me one good reason I shouldn't slowly kill you." She spits in my face.

My eyes flit to Kolton trying desperately to get to me, without much success.

I look deep into her raging blue eyes and frown.

"I can't." I tell her.

"But remember who the real enemy is. Hasn't Finnick told you?"

The evil villain, antagonist face she pulls slowly drops into realization. She slowly brings down her sword but her grip is still right on me. Kolton crawls over, confused.

"How do you know-"

"I know a lot of things. Like if you don't come with us, it's certain you'll die."

"Raina, what are you doing?" he gently asks me. He knows that whatever I'm scheming, he'll trust me.

I turn back to the girl.

"Trust me." I mouth to her. Her grip loosens, and she stands up.

"Okay. But I still don't like you."

"Never said you had to. Just saving your sorry ass." I half smile.

"I could have easily killed you." She states.

"Yes, you could have. But three other angry allies against 1? I'd say the odds were against you making it out alive."

"Were?" she questions.

Before I could comment, leaves on trees start blowing hard and falling.
The windstorm.
The treehouse is still on fire, only now this odd wind is causing it to spread like a forest fire.

"To the cave!" I scream.

"Are you crazy?" The girl screams, "The cave can seal shut just like the cornucopia at the bloodbath, and you'll never come out!"

I see the open cave. Katniss told me to trust the cave. Trust it is what I will do.

"Let's go!" I pull them along. She's still skeptical, and Kolton follows.

We're about a yard away from it, when I hear Koltom scream.
Another tribute.
The wind makes it hard for him to run, and I can't see either of them through the dust and fire that fills the air. I cough through it. The girl and I make it to the cave and wait for Kolton. We watch with intensity as he struggles. I scream his name for him to hurry. My heart nearly busts out of my chest from worry as I notice the cave walls closing in.

"Raina!" He screams, very close to my extended arm.

If I keep my arm out any longer, the cave will crush it, and it will be gone. Just like Kolton.

More fire torches are lit around the cave making me scream.

"Someone stop the cave from moving!" I scream to no one directly.

"Kolton!" I scream as it almost closes.

"Raina, it's okay!"

That was the last thing I heard him say.
