Katniss

"What!" Tears form my eyes as Plutarch's words leave his mouth. They're going to bomb district 12.

"Heard it myself. Get your loved ones out. Now. A train leads to twelve in an hours time. Make sure not a soul knows who you are, or no one will be able to escape the arena, and no one will escape the bombing."

He starts speaking of other instructions that I take huge mental notes on.

As soon as he bids me goodbye we're out the door.

"Where are you going?" Peeta whispers, following me into the elevator, adjusting his disguise.

"Back to the training center to pack a bag and get the hell out of here."

He doesn't argue with what I said, but I can tell he's worried sick. Biting his lip and blinking several times.

"It'll be fine." I assure. But maybe I'm really not sure. To say we booked it out of the training center is an understatement. We were in and out in two minutes.
We were the last two people on the train, because we lugged all our belongings into two bags.
Going from the Capitol to district 12, to give a bomb warning.
I hear Raina speak in my earpiece that I'm still wearing.
She tells me that the careers don't know who shot an arrow in their ally's heart. The careers climb into their treehouse and look for possible suspects. They split up, two staying at the treehouse while two go on a miniature search party.
Time was bought, for now.
As the train moves hundreds of miles per hour, I find myself beyond nervous. It's our job to get thousands of men, women and children out of their homes and into District 13. A hovercraft will be there hidden in the far off set of trees in the woods.
The ride back to 12 is endless. I'm on the verge of ripping my disguise off out of rage. All it happens to be is a blue cloak with a hood.

Peeta wakes me up when we arrive, and we hop off the train with our very little belongings.
The first stop is Gale's home.
We approach the little brown house, and I knock loudly. Hazelle, his mother, opens the door. I look up at her and very slightly lift my hood for her to see my face.

"Oh. Honey, come on in you two." She welcomes us into a hug.
I know that today is the first day of the week. Gale's day off in the mines, and the day we go hunting. Sunday mornings were always peaceful as I remembered.

"Good morning, Mrs. Hawthorne, is Gale here today? It's very important, he could be a big help to us."

Peeta says, shaking her hand as he introduces himself. Although she already knows who he is. Everyone in Panem knows who he is.

"He just came home from hunting, dear." She tells Peeta.
She goes to get him, and I grab Peeta's hand. If only she knew how much of a rush we are in.
Gale comes inside the dining room where we are planted.
He doesn't recognize us until we lift our hoods.

"Katniss." His eyes widen and nearly pop out of his head. He gathers me into a hug.

"It must be important if you're not mentoring the games."

"That's why we're here, it's super important." I say. He lets me go and takes a look at us, before pulling us both into a hug.

"Please tell me you're not asking for my blessing." He laughs, which gets a chuckle out of me.

"No. It's something pretty life threatening."

Our smiles shift quick after my sentence.

I explain everything to Gale with the help of Peeta. The ear pieces, the tributes, the bomb warning. District 13.

He agrees right away to help.

"I'm giving you a half hour to pack everything and take your family. I'll be back then."

Our next stop is the bakery.
Opening the door to the front of the store, a little bell goes off. Peeta's mother and father wipe tables.

"Dad." Peeta calls.

He looks up and his surprised smile grows wide.

"Son."

Watching them hug it out reminded me of the time before our games, where his father gave me the cookies. Mellark boys really can be charming.

Explaining our predicament was a little on the depressing side. His mother is refusing to go. She said she will not leave this bakery to burn. His brothers and father try to explain to her that if she stays, she won't live to see her family ever again. She then proceeds to tell us that it wasn't a problem and she doesn't care.
With the boys all heartbroken, they go and pack all their possessions, leaving the mother in the kitchen. Peeta and I stand there.

"Have you no sense? You'd rather die in a bomb explosion than escape safely with your family?" I tell her.

She goes to yell at me, when I stop her with my voice.

"We don't have time for your bullshit, Ma'am. Pack a small bag if you change your mind."

The word quickly spreads through the district, and I help Prim pack her belongings.

"Don't waste your time packing clothes, little duck. Just your most valuable things."

We sit on the floor, packing things into a small bag. She crawls over to her desk and grabs a picture frame and hands it to me.

"Can I bring this?"

A picture of her, Peeta, buttercup, and I. I nod in approval.

We pack her basic needs, and she's all ready to become a refugee.

Her, Peeta and I sit on the carpet in the living room drinking tea, staring at the fireplace, ready to leave at any second.
We speak quietly, taking our minds off things.

My earpiece has Pluratch speaking in it.

"The hovercraft is on its way." I am informed.
Peeta and I stand up and put our cloaks back on and place our hoods over our heads.
I wrap a big coat around my sister, and my mother takes one more check about the house, making sure she has taken all her herbs and medicines.

"Plutarch says victor's village won't be bombed. He said he'll bring me back here if anything." I assure my family.

My thoughts go to my old home. Before winning the games. Before I can think too much about it, I hear an ear piercing explosion coming from outside and a blood hurdling scream. My hood is well adjusted and I sprint out of victor's village, my family close behind.
Everything is a shiny memory. Lowering people out of their homes desperately trying to tell them to leave their belongings because their lives are in danger. My heart broke every time someone would refuse to flee. Bombs are dropping all around us, landing on houses, trees, buildings, and people.

"I'll lead these people, you go get more!" I tell Gale, and he goes sprinting off to houses telling people not to hide inside them.

Meanwhile, Peeta and I have hundreds of people following us into the woods to board the hovercraft. They carry little to none. Screams fill the air. Along with ash.

I catch up to the front of the hovercraft, aiding people on.

"Where's Prim?" I ask my mother as she walks up to me.

"I thought she was with you."

My realization kicks in.

"She went back for the fucking cat!" I find myself lightheaded at this news. Tears flood as my knees buckle and I fall to the ground. No, get up. Stand up!
I force myself back on my feet and Peeta comes with me to retrieve my sister.
I'm running faster than I ever have. I didn't even find my feet moving this quickly while we were chased by dog mutts.

"Prim!" I call. I kick through ashes, burning myself in the process.

We take turns shouting her name.

After frantically stomping around clueless, I hear my name from a distance.

"Katniss!"

My head turns to my right to see her running up to me, the huge cat entangled in her arms.

"Go! Go now!" I instruct the both of them as we have others on our tail, fleeing.
I stay behind the others making sure they climb under the fence. Before I could follow, I feel heat on my body and I tense up.
It's like a sense of déjà vu, because just like when I blew up the career's food, I'm blown backward into the air.
I see two blonde heads hover over me before I pass out.
