Chapter Eight

John Pov
I started to head out the door and start going home, when,

"John Wait!"
Mr.Schuyler called.

I turned around.
"Yes ma'am?" I asked.

"Did you convince Alex into doing the group therapy? I want you to meet some of the others in it if you do get him to go. I mean. We'll probably just force him to anyway."
She said, catching up to me.

"Really? Alright. Would I go to the group therapy with him and just make sure he doesn't do anything...that's unlike himself?" I asked.

"If you'd like."
She shrugged.

I nodded, thinking it over it.
I'll go to that.
I mean I have nothing else to do really.

"Alright, Follow me." She said.

I gripped my bag and followed her.
We went past a few cells and she stopped in front of one.

All of the cells were made of glass.
I'm almost certain it was bulletproof.
In each cell there was a bed, toilet and sink.

"How do you feed them?" I asked softly, watching the man stare at the wall, talking to himself.

She nudged me and pointed to a little slip in the glass.
I nodded.

Right.

"This is Samuel Seabury. He has severe Schizophrenia. When he murdered people, he wasn't even aware he was doing it. Poor guy." She said.

Alex talked about him.
Called him an idiot.
Jeez that was a meaner insult than I thought.

He turned to us and smiled warmly, waving.

"That's the Sam that his family knew." Ms.Schuyler muttered.

"Damn." I whispered.
"Yeah." She whispered back.

She showed me a few other people, most of them
screaming,
sleeping
or pacing.

We stopped at a cell with two girls. Almost every cell had two people.

One girl looked around nineteen.
She smiled and waved.

"She's a psychopath."
Ms.Schuyler said.

"Oh fun." I replied without thinking. Ms.Schuyler laughed and nodded.

The girl ran up to the glass.
"I'm Martha!" She told us.

"Hi!" I exclaimed, trying to be nice.

She turned suddenly serious.
"I've been seventeen for three years. How old are you?" She asked.

"Oh goodness," Ms.Schuyler breathed, walking away quickly.
I followed.

We went up some stairs and went to a cell upstairs.

The only cell upstairs.
I mean my office was up there too but-

"You already know Alexander." She sneered, gesturing towards the cell.

Burr was guarding the cell.

Why is Alex's the only cell that doesn't have two people?
Why is his the only that has a guard? Why is his upstairs?

Alex was talking to Burr through the glass.

"Alright fine." Burr muttered, walking in the opposite direction of me and Peggy.

Alex smiled evilly and watched Burr leave. He turned back around and saw us.

His head cocked to the side and his eyebrows furrowed.

He walked up to the glass.

"What brings you two here?" He asked in a sickeningly charming voice.

Ms.Schuyler groaned.

"Peggy, I'm sorry, alright? I didn't really kill your sister. I just..
messed with her mind a little bit.
You know me!
I do that to everyone!"
He exclaimed.

Ms.Schuyler's face was emotionless. Alex sighed and studied her for a minute.

"Ooh! Someone likes Johnny boy!"
He exclaimed, walking back to his bed.

"W-what?" I asked.
Ms.Schuyler's face was red.

Burr came back and put something through Alex's little slip in the glass.

Pens.
Paper.
Well fuck.

Alex saw me notice and his eyes widened. He frantically tried to write on the paper.

Peggy noticed too and shouted,
"Alex! What the fuck? Did Burr give you that?! No! Put the pen down! You won't be fed for a month if you keep writing!"

"Thats not true right?" I whispered.
"Of course not."

"Liar." Alex said in a sing song voice.

Soon enough Alex was tackled by a few guards and all his things were taken.

"I never fucking win!" He shouted, curling into a ball on the floor.

His white jumpsuit had blood on it.
His nose started bleeding after he got tackled.

"Bye Alexander." Peggy said.

Alex ran to the glass.

"Wait! I Erm...I just want you to know that I've figured out how to escape.
All because that. Get out your pawns because we're about to start playing. Maybe not today, or tomorrow but I swear on my life that it's soon."
He said.

"Alright Alex." Peggy deadpanned starting to leave.

I followed her.

"How come Alex is the only one without a cell mate?" I asked.

"Well, you see, sociopaths like him, though there are very few like him, they strive off social contact. So in a way we're almost punishing him. Somehow he always gets pens and paper. I'm not sure how. I don't know what he says to the guards but I know its got to be a threat. Or something like that."
Peggy said.

I nodded.
She looked at the paper she took from Alex.

It was full of writing.
She turned it over.
There was a smily face with two X's over its eyes.
'Soon.'
Was written next to it.

My god, Alex what do you have planned?
