Part Fifty-Six: Meet Diabolus
Hermione's POV:
I flip the note over, but I find no signature.
"What?" Draco asks. " They said that they 'have a bone to pick with you', what could that possibly mean?"
"That they have a bone to pick with her," Luna snorts. "It's quite obvious, isn't it?"
Neville pats her hand. "I think he's asking exactly what bone they have to pick with her and why"
Luna simply shrugs, though I don't find the situation amusing. "Guys, I'm getting a little worried," I snap.
"I know, I know," Ron pats my back. "Don't worry, we'll get through it. Just like how we always do."
I find myself having to bite back from saying, 'We always did when it was just the three of us, you daft dimbo!'
"Yes, but now there are more people at risk!" I exclaim, suddenly feeling a bit worried about all my friends, especially Ginny, Lavender and Pansy, who were currently carrying babies.
Theo just snorts, as if this were some sort of everyday conversation. "Right, but we can handle it."
Ginny huffs. "Yes of course you can, but mind you, some of us here have more than ourselves to worry about!" She points to her stomach.
Harry frowns. "I think you girls should stay out of this then," Harry nods to all the girls except me. "We'll help her."
"Or," I suggest. "I could just...do it myself."
Draco vigorously shakes his head, nodding it from side to side, letting his blonde locks perfectly frame his face. "Too risky, I won't let you do that."
Instantly, my insides burn with anger. The anger courses through my veins, is goes through my brain, fueling me to say something snappy. How dare he think I can't handle myself! "Excuse me!" I growl.
He looks taken aback. "Whoa, sorry, I just meant that-"
"OH sure!" I snap at him. "You think that just because I'm a girl I can't handle myself!"
He freezes, not saying anything. "Silence," I hiss. "Speaks volumes."
I stand up and put my wand at his throat, pressing it into his wind pipe, blocking out his air (sort of like how I did in my third year! This memory makes me happy, slapping him in the face was satisfying, afterall, he is a right git!).
Onlookers gasp, and some of the Professors take notice.
"Hermione?" Danielle calls from the Professor's table. "Is everything alright?"
I slowly lower my wand, still glaring at Draco with hatred in my eyes. He gulps, and I reply, "Fine."

Draco's POV:
"Fine." Hermione drawls, slowly lowering her wand from my throat. I am brought back to our third year, and flinch a bit, as if she would punch me again.
Professor Huckielle stares at Hermione, a bit concerned. "Are you sure?"
Hermione presses her wand into my chest, causing me to gasp with pain at the sudden sharp prick of her wand (which, sadly, had been whittled to have a bit of a pointy tip, though I wasn't sure why).
"Positive!" She chirps, happily removing her wand from my chest. "Just a little spat is all," She explains, leaving out almost every detail.
I nervously gulp. "Yeah, everything is fine."
"Well then, I believe you all have herbology now?" Professor McGonagall looks over Hermione disappointedly. "I expected so much more from you, Miss Granger. I'm very disappointed"
Hermione's face immediately falls, and she lowers her wand. "I'm sorry Headmistress, I got worked up is all."
McGonagall pats her shoulder in a long manner. "It's alright, Miss Granger, I understand that it happens sometimes, though for goodness sake, do not draw your wand!"
Hermione nods happily, completely disregarding me gaping at how easily she could twist the situation to her advantage.
McGonagall shoved us out the door, and told the onlookers to get back to what they were doing and head to class.
I look at Hermione, and she just grabs her bag and goes to talk with Luna and Neville.
"What's wrong with 'Mione?" Ginny asks from beside me.
I furrow my perfectly shaped blond brow and shrug. "I have no idea, did you two fight or something?"
Ginny growls at me. "Did you two fight?"
I take a cautious step back.. "No! We didn't!"
Ginny skips along happily. "Good then!"
I twirl my hand around to shift my books around to get them in a more comfortable position. "She wouldn't act this way unless something happened," Ginny continues, thinking hardly. "Something is definitely up."
"Well then," Harry walks up next to us and joins our conversation. I huff.
Outnumbered by the Potters, or at least, Potter and the Pregnant Potter-To-Be!
"We need to figure out what happened, why it happened, and the effect it has on her." Harry hefts his things into one hand and shoves his glasses further up his nose, something I had commonly made fun of him for when we were little.
"Draco," Ginny asks, continuing to bustle ahead. "Do you really care for 'Mione?"
Instantly, my throat dries and I can't find any words. "Uh..."

Unknown's POV:
As Hermione Granger pulls her wand on Draco Malfoy, I pretend to gasp, feigning an aura of surprise and shock. I mean, Hermione Granger pulling her wand on Draco Malfoy after they had gotten married.
On the inside, however, I secretly laugh to myself, gloating that what I had done, was working!
Everything was going according to plan!
My 'secret weapon' would start to take effect soon, and she would become the exact thing I needed her to be, and the exact opposite of the kind of person that her friends loved!
Oh but don't worry, everything would turn out just fine in the end.
Nobody would ever suspect that I would do something, of course they wouldn't! Who would ever suspect me!
Headmistress McGonagall and Professor Huckielle (eugh) rush over, talking to the troubled couple as they fight. Hermione smiles sweetly and basically ignores the question, deflecting it and turning the situation to defend herself.
I grin manically, but cover it up with a sneeze once I notice one of my 'friends' looking at me a little weirdly. "Sorry," I apologize to my friend. "Sneezes, am I right? So annoying sometimes!" For good measure, I rub my nose.
My friend, like an idiot, snorts and says they believe me. "It happens, it happens."

Hermione's POV:
I'm on my way to...I'm not sure actually, but somewhere, when I suddenly feel my nerves untense, almost like they were tense before. I look around and see the crowd of students.
"Hermione?" Luna calls from beside me. Her sweet dreamy voice instantly helps to relax my shoulders and relieve tension. I rub at a crick in my neck.
"Weird..." I mutter.
"I'm sorry?" Luna calls again.
"Not you, sorry," I mutter, this time grabbing at my elbow in pain.
"'Mione, are you okay?" Neville asks me. I look over at him and he looks at me, concerned.
"Yeah sorry, I just...blanked for a bit...." I inform him calmly. I rack my mind to see if I could find anything that would explain this, but barely anything does.
The only thing that pops up is, "Imperius curse."
I whip around to see a fifth year student muttering something about the imperius curse. "Allows you to control the person, it was used a lot during the war..." The student trails off, not noticing that I was watching them.
"Come on," Luna pulls me along, not noticing me flinching as she pulls me by my elbow. OW! "We have herbology, so we mustn't be late."
"Do you really care for 'Mione?"
"...uhhh...." Draco trails off, blissfully unaware that I am right in front of him, able to hear every whispered word.
I wipe away a small tear from the corner of my eye, I thought she said that he felt something! Right now, it sounds like he doesn't feel anything, that lying piece of scum!
We arrive at the greenhouses, and I push my way past Blaise and Theo.
"Whoa!" They both turn in opposite directions, allowing me to thunder past them.
I slam my pot of Devil's Snare on the desk, knowing that she would be doing a check up on the commands.
I had taught mine several, actually, it wasn't really that hard.
My Snare, which I had decided to name Diabolus (latin for Devil), sensed my emotions. It instantly started to creep around the table, squeezing at its sides.
Draco sits next to me, and my muscles tense and burn with desire. No, desire wasn't it, but I had no idea just what they burned with.
"Hey there cutie," Draco tickled the spot right under my chin, and I felt like purring.
Purring? What the hell? Am I a cat or something?
I rested my head against his shoulder and inhaled his musky cologne. "Mmmm," I sigh, allowing myself to lean further into his touch.
I feel my friends staring at me weirdly, so I sit up and tuck away my books. Diabolus retreats happily, now dancing around and swaying in the wind.
"Good morning class," Professor Sprout greets us.
"Good morning Professor," We all chorus.
"Today, I will be checking up on your commands," Professor Sprout informs us. "I will walk around, and watch you perform the command you taught it. Then, you will be able to use the period to do what you wish."
She starts to walk around towards the front of the class, watching as the students perform their commands. There are varying levels of success.
"It would be funny if somebody taught their Devil's Snare to react to their emotions," Astoria comments as she watches her snare begin to organize the mess that was splayed out in front of it.
I giggle. "That's what I did actually!" I gesture over to Diabolus, who sways it's vines in the wind again, doing a small happy dance.
"Wow, 'Mione," Draco puts an arm around my shoulders. Diabulos perks up and looks over at Draco. "Very...advanced..." He plays with one of Diabolus's vines.
"Hello students," Professor Sprout waddles over to us. Diabulos moves away from Draco (reluctantly) and stares at Professor Sprout. "What have you taught your Snare to do?"
"Diabolus responds to my emotions!" I chirp happily, pointedly saying its name.
"You named it?" Ron looked around, a bit scared. "Were we supposed to do that?"
"No, I just see that our dear Hermione has gone the extra mile, once again." Sprout praises. "Full marks!"
She waddles away from me and heads towards my other friends, who also, with varying degrees of success (like most of the class), show her their commands.
An intense burning feeling hits my back, and I tense.
Diabolus turns my head slightly to the side, and I see a bit of blondish hair peep down.
"Are you okay?" Harry asks me. He looks over at me and turns me back around.
"Fine," I announce, casually leaning back.
Now, I have a lead.
