34: Ooooh...Jealousy!

Hermione's POV:

I waddle into Divination, still having a weird, but somewhat pleasurable, feeling in my stomach.

Draco looks me over. "Are you sick or something?" He nonchalantly pulls out a piece of parchment and a quill. "Also, how was the test? The guys and I already got ours, a couple of days ago."

I shift around, feeling a bit uncomfortable now. "Yay?" I squeak.

He turns to look at me. "Are you okay? Did something happen?"

I shake my head. "I'm fine."

He studies my face. "Who checked you?"

I put my face in my hands. "Asher," I mumble.

Draco tenses from beside me. "And did you enjoy it?" He asks coolly.

I giggle and set up my divination station. "Jealous?"

He huffs and turns away, refusing to look at me. I poke his shoulder, but he doesn't answer me. Sighing, and feeling a little guilty, I run a hand through his hair, ruining his hairstyle to try to get his attention, but he still doesn't do anything.

I sigh. "I've done it before, I mean, the muggle tests. It wasn't enjoyable, but it also wasn't weird."

Draco turns back to me and smiles. "As long as you didn't enjoy it."

I narrow my eyes at him. "Why would that be?"

Draco leans close to me, forcing me to prop myself up on the table with my elbows. "Because you are mine, and I treasure what is mine."

He leans away and lets Professor Trelawney begin her lesson, but I can't stop thinking about what he said. Does he really mean that?

I sit back in the common room after a long day of classes. I'm still thinking about what Draco had said...

A warm pair of arms snakes around my waist and I jump back, startled.

Draco laughs from behind me. "Scared, Granger?"

I smack him on the head with a book I'm holding, Magical Creatures and Where To Find Them by Newt Scamander, so a rather thick book.

He rubs his head. "Ow!" He whines.

I laugh. "Sorry."

He sits down on the couch next to me. "So I was told that my basilisk is all ready to go into your chamber of secrets."

I stiffen a bit. "We still have about two and a half years before we're in trouble, we can wait a while."

Draco laughs. "Such an innocent girl, you are."

I smirk. "Not...entirely."

Draco pales. "What?"

I sit on my heels and face him. I place my book down. "I'm not all that innocent, that's all." I cock my head to the side as he pales a bit more.

"Have you uh..." Draco trails off.

I giggle. "Viktor Krum."

Draco clenches and unclenches his fist. "Did he...?"

I nod, a bit too eagerly and I see his jaw clench. "It was both our first times. Anyways, I have studying to do. Ta!"

I wiggle my fingers and flee to my room, not wanting to see the monster that was jealous Draco.

I slide down the door and rest my head in my hands. Why did I say that?

I shrug to myself and start setting up my desk to study. I hear the door open and close, but I decide to not do anything.

"Hermione," Ginny calls. "What's got Draco's knickers in a twist?"

I sigh in relief. "He found out about the night of the Yule Ball."

Ginny sits down on my bed. "If anything, I'd say he's...jealous."

I huff. "Draco Malfoy, jealous, about me? I'd like to see the day."

Draco's POV:

I'm jealous.

I'm definitely jealous.

But why?

She had just told me that she wasn't a virgin, and I started to tense up.

Why did I just...care so much?

Weaselette/soon-to-be Potterette walked in. She sits beside me and asks what happened. "You look like a heartbroken six-year-old." She comments.

"Nothing," I growl.

She only nods her head and goes up the stairs.

Blaise and Theo walk in a couple of minutes later.

I glare at them. "What?"

Theo snorts. "Alright mate, what did Granger do now?"

I huff. "Nothing."

Blaise tuts. "She didn't do nothing."

I put my arms against the sides of the couch and sigh. "She did it with Viktor Krum."

Theo's jaw drops. "No way. Lucky girl!" He snickers and punches Blaise's arm lightly.

Blaise glares at him. "Are you...jealous?"

I look down and twiddle with my thumbs. "A tad," I mumble.

Theo howls. "DRACO'S GOT A CRUSHY WUSHY!"

I hiss at him and he only howls even louder. "Look," Blaise says. "I can't help you there. You just gotta ask if...she likes you too. Or just give up."

I snort. "You think that she'd ever like me? Look at her role in the war...then look at me."

Theo becomes serious. "Mate," he begins harshly. "If you keep thinking like that, then maybe that's all you'll ever be. Just 'the guy on the wrong side'. If you talk to her about it...then maybe something will happen."

I give him a small nod. "He's right," Blaise agrees. "When Ginny gets out, I'd say, go talk to Granger."

The two leave me alone with my thoughts. I hear Ginny's laughter echoing through the hall, and I see her and Hermione walk down the stairs a second later. I stand up and walk to Hermione.

"Can we take a walk?" I ask her. She looks over at Ginny, who excitedly nods.

"Of course," She responds.

I lead her out the portrait, and I briefly see the girl in the painting wink at her from the corner of my eye.

I clear my throat and she stops giggling and chatting with the girl in the portrait. She rushes up to me and giggles. "Hey!"

We step onto some of the moving staircases and start talking.

"Hey," I mutter back.

She frowns. "Are you okay?" She asks me. Her eyes...they look so full of genuine concern. They shone with pride and knowledge. Her eyes were a beautiful chocolate brown...

I shake myself out of it. "Yeah, I just wanted to talk...about us."

The moving staircases drops us off at the entrance of the school, and I feel a cool breeze.

"Oh!" She shivers. "That's er..."

I sigh. "Awkward topic?"

She clears her throat and looks down at her feet as we walk. "Yeah."

I stand to face her. "Hermione," I say.

She nods and looks up at me through her eyelashes. "Yes?" I can see her breath fogging around, it was starting to get cold. Afterall, it was early November.

"How do...you feel?" I ask. My heart starts beating and I can hear the blood rushing in my head. What if she says she's not happy-

"I think we're weird." She finally says. "I can understand how we would sort of work, but we haven't quite found that rhythm, you know?"

I nod. "When do you suppose...we start looking for that rhythm?"

She lets out a good, hearty laugh. I've never noticed before, but the way she throws her head back...her laugh is so..contagious, that I almost want to laugh myself.

"You can't look for the rhythm, Draco," My heart beats. The way my name slid off her tongue...sounded so perfect. "It just...comes to you."

I take a small step closer to her. "I'll admit, then."

She cocks an eyebrow and takes a small step towards me. "Admit what?"

"That I was jealous when I heard of your 'magical night' with Viktor Krum." I admit.

She blushes. "Sorry I just...I thought it'd be better if you knew-"

"Hermione?" I ask, leaning a bit closer.

"Yes?" She whispers, staring into my eyes.

"I'm going to kiss you," I warn her.

She slowly nods her head and wraps her arms around my neck.

"Okay," She closes her eyes and leans in a bit.

I meet her lips halfway through and instantly, I feel a fire. It feels like life giving electricity shooting through my spine. I've never felt so alive...so...happy.

"Draco," She sighs into the kiss.

I slowly pull away, resting my forehead on hers. "Yes?" I ask, a bit nervously.

She completely pulls away and laughs. "We still didn't find the rhythm."

I frown a bit, but laugh too. "Well, I think it's high time we start searching."

She reluctantly nods. "I guess so."

We sit on a park bench, and she leans her head against my shoulder.

"What are we, then?" She asks.

"I have no idea," I murmur. "I have no idea."
