Hazel's POV:

I saw Austin with wide eyes. He dropped the cracked and grimy phone as it made a loud thud against the ground coupled by a few smaller ones.

"Yeah.. it's that day in a week. And what's worse is that it's 2015." The nurse behind me seemed baffled at what we were talking about. But sensing the rising tension, she quickly excused herself leaving us two alone.

"W-what? T-then.. how are we ten years in the past?!" He seemed to lose his cocky attitude as he croaked out a barely audible sentence. "T-then... can we save them? If we're in the past... then can we stop what's gonna happen 5 years from now in 3 days... H-hazel?" He sounded unsure. It was so unlike his usual self. It tore at my heart strings watching the only person I came to depend on, trust, and love.

"I-I did some research. The war starts in 5 years. On the day 3 days from now. We have 5 years." My uncertainty suddenly faded away as I gave the most confident and assertive look I could give. "We'll change it. I don't care if I die having to change it. We'll make sure we change it this time around." Austin suddenly gave a stern and unflinching gaze as he nodded.

"Yeah...we won't let them die this time. I'll make sure you don't die this time either." He came closer to me as he lightly wrapped his arms around my smaller, shorter, and lithe frame. "We're not gonna let the San Francisco bombing go off this time. And we'll make sure our families live."

Austin's POV:

Hazel stubbornly said that she was feeling good enough to go out of the hospital, so we checked her out and paid all the bills. We had no insurance and barely any money left in our bank account because we were very poor before we joined the army. We couldn't remembered where we were on October 29th, 2015, but we know that we were somewhere near the U.S Army Headquarters. So that was where we went. Fortunately, no one seemed to be able to recognize us as we walked by, but I did hear some random gossips about Hazel that I never knew happened. Apparently Hazel was very popular when she was in highschool...she was the most stunning cheerleader and the prettiest girl on campus. I could imagine why everyone was talking about her; her hair was the color of sunlight, lips the shade of roses, and her dazzling smile could melt the coldest winter. I sighed...I knew everyone wanted to steal my girl. We turned the corner and arrived at the front door of the Headquarters. We went in and walked up to the register desk.

"Hi," the woman at the front desk smiled, "how can I help you?"

"Good morning," Hazel said politely, "we would like to sign up for the U.S Army."

I never get how Hazel talked to people so politely...I mean honestly...the only reason we're here is to register for the army, duhhhh. That's why I only let her talk in serious business.

"Alright," she replied, "please give me your names."

"Hazel Snyder and Austin McCall," Hazel said rather nervously.

The woman scanned her computer and clicked onto some data shown in the connected screen that she turned on, so that we could see what she was doing. I watched in horror as her expression changed from businesslike to awed. Oh no...I thought, we were too late. The real Austin and Hazel must have already registered.

"Um..." the lady coughed, "well, there seemed to be a mistake in the system. Maybe I got your names incorrect...will you please tell me your names again. I'm very sorry."

"That's all right," Hazel chuckled, her laughter edged with fear, "um, it's Hanna Smith and Justin McCalla."

Dang...she's smart, I smirked, that's my girl. I guess lying is better than not, but then I thought of another problem; what if the people in the army recognize us and become suspicious? We would have to change our identity soon.

"Oh," the front desk woman shook her head. "I thought it was Hazel Snyder and Austin McCall. Phew, that solved the problem, otherwise there might have been an imposter."

I could hear Hazel breath a faint sigh of relieve next to me and I couldn't help but feel proud of her.

"Here are your information packets and please sign this form if you would like to stay at the army camps overnight. All fees are allowed to be paid throughout the year," the lady said, "the meals would be at Juniper Hall and there would be daily entertainment at night in The Sapphire Theater. Please give me any type your applications, licences, and certificates because we would like to take a copy of it for safety reasons."

Holy shit...my mind swirled, oh no...dammit, the real Hazel and Austin would have the same documents as us. Ugh, what are we going to do???

But before I could think of a way to get out of this mess, Hazel's body went rigid and without warning, she collapsed on the ground.

Hazel's POV:

"Hanna? Hanna?!" Austin ran up to my body gently putting my head on his lap while shaking me. "Hanna! Can you hear me? Hanna! Hazel Snyder!" By now he was shaking my head so hard that I was beginning to worry that he might just shake my head right off. Strangely the woman at the desk didn't seem to notice Austin using my real name. He suddenly lifted me off the ground, one arm under my knees while the other one was wrapped around my shoulders.

"Where's the nearest hospital?"

"Right this way. Hurry it's only 5 minutes away!" The woman at the front desk immediately excused herself from her job momentarily as she rushed off to the hospital leading the way. She was too distracted trying to guide Austin. Using the chance that was given to me, I opened one eye slightly was whispering a barely audible "Austin."

"H-haz-" I immediately cut him off by pinching his arm. Hard. The lady suddenly turned around as I immediately collapsed again back into his arms as if nothing had happened.

"Hurry! It's right over there!" She pointed to a pair of sliding doors with big, red bolded letters that said 'Emergency Room'

"R-right." Austin still seemed slightly shocked, but he continued running up into the room where paramedics and nurses immediately came rushing in with a stretcher. Austin placed me on top of it as nurses and doctors ran me into an empty room.

"Please stay calm sir. Can you tell me what happened?" The sound of a nurse talking to Austin reached my ears. Some other people who I didn't know started to check me for any immediate injuries.

"She just collapsed... I don't know what happened! She was fine for a couple seconds when she suddenly grabbed her chest in pain before collapsing! W-what do I do?" I smirked slightly at Austin's acting. Damn, he was good at acting pathetic and worried even though he was cockier than a rich man's daughter.

"Well don't worry. She's just collapsed from exhaustion and sleep deprivation. She should wake up in a few hours. Her eyes have very dark circles around them, and her muscles seem tight and rigged. These are just a couple signs of exhaustion and sleep deprivation. Don't worry." I heard Austin breathe a sigh of relief before hearing the steps of the nurses leaving the room before closing the door. I opened my eyes expecting to see an amused Austin only to be completely surprised. He had dark, irritated eyes as he glared at me.

"A-Austin?"

"Don't you dare do that again." His voice seemed to growl out extra loudly with the slight echo of the room. "I don't care if you wanted to get us out of an uncomfortable situation. Don't worry me like that again."

"That acting...it was real? You were worried?" Austin suddenly averted his eyes as if he was ashamed of admitting something before he suddenly turned to face me while holding my gaze with determined eyes.

"Maybe it's 'cuz of the war, or maybe it's because you're hella reckless, but your life is important to me. Don't toy around with it." His gaze suddenly soften as he walked up to me while draping his arms around the delicate frames of my shoulders. "Don't worry me anymore Hazel." Suddenly I felt a gut-wrenching feeling of guilt wash over me. I wrapped my arms tightly around his neck whispering "sorry" repeatedly before letting him go and kissing him on the forehead.

"I'm gonna go check on our fees. I'm pretty sure you staying here's gonna be expensive. And I should make sure that we're able to get into the army. You just keep up the act and knock yourself out for a couple hours." I laughed a bit before shooing Austin out.

"Yea yea your royal highness. Now get out so I can have my beauty sleep." I mumbled sarcastically before he closed to door stepping into the halls.

Austin's POV:

I walked to the front door of the army register hall and looked down as I smiled to myself. Hazel's such a good actress, even though I knew it was coming, I couldn't help but worry that the fainting scene was real. I gave up on trying to deny the fact that I care too much about Hazel a few years ago, knowing that no matter how hard I try, I simply couldn't deny it. Whatever...I shook my head and walked to the front desk.

"Hi, sorry about that scene," I said to the lady, "Haz...Hanna's not usually like that. She's a strong girl."

"That's alright," she smiled back and said, "I figured that you're here to pay the fee?"

"That's right," I nodded, "so what is the grand total?"

I paid the bills and I took the information/schedule back to Hazel's room. But as I turned the corner, I heard voices talking and I stood frozen still. My mind unfroze right before the couple passed us and urged me to hide in the nearest room. I watched in horror as Hazel Snyder and Austin McCall walked past my hiding place.

"Dammit, Hazel! Hazel!" I screamed. "They're already here! We were too late."

Hazel bolted upright from her bed with her eyes snapped open.

"Jesus Austin, if you scream like that every day then I swear I'll be in the emergency room with heart attacks and you'll have to pay for all those expensive bills," she said, "so what's wrong?"

"Dude I just saw the real us walking in the hallway and I just had enough time to jump into an empty room before they could see me," I explained, "what are we going to do?"

"Um..." Hazel thought for a few minutes, "let's um...let's dress up differently so that no one can see the resemblance between the real Austin and Hazel and the fake Justin and Hannah."

"And how are we going to do that?" I raised my eyebrows.

Without warning, Hazel took a knife from under her pillow and with a swish, her beautiful blond hair fell onto the white bedsheet. By the time she was done cutting her hair to the length of my hair, I was horrified. Hazel Snyder, what the hell were you thinking? You were the prettiest girl I know and her dazzling blond hair was her signature look, My mind spinned uncontrollably, I know that was a desperate move but we could have done something else...

"I know you're thinking about my hair," she rolled her eyes, "but psh...who cares? It'll grow back sooner or later."

I slowly nodded even though I still felt like she did the wrong thing.

Hazel's POV:

"But psh... who cares? It'll grow back sooner or later." I said it with so much confidence that it almost seemed like I didn't care. But in the inside, I was freaking out.

Oh my god oh my god...why did I cut my hair?! My hair that took forever to grow out! I had my own mini panic attack even along with Austin who looked absolutely mortified. This would have been the perfect time to laugh at his expression, but I couldn't since I was pretty sure I was sporting the exact same expression in the inside of my head. I was definitely going to get a proper haircut after this.

"'Kay we're good! Now we can start acting! From now on, don't call me Hazel. Call me Hanna. 'Kay?" Austin shrugged.

"We registered our names as Hanna and Justin anyways, so we might as well go with it." I smiled before suddenly going into a dejected mood. Sensing what I was feeling, Austin immediately cheered me up. "Hey stop looking like a kicked dog. You can leave the hospital now since I paid the fees. C'mon. Let's go get food." I nodded before climbing out of the extremely uncomfortable "bed".

"Let's go."

"Mhm."

After leaving the hospital we settled into a quiet, but comfortable silence. Austin suddenly broke the silence as he started talking.

"Hey Hazel?"

"Yeah?"

"We got into the army again! We didn't even have to show our ID's because of our hospital entrance!" I broke out into a grin before it suddenly fell.

"Yea...." Austin looked at me in a worried way before jumping back into an enthusiastic conversation.

"We'll finally be able to live our glory as soldiers again! I'm gonna make sure to beat Kevin into the ground this time! Can't believe that jack-ass completely floored me." He sounded upset, but it seemed to be a comical relief for me.

"Che. You idiot. You're gonna be beaten to the ground again if you continue to have that stick up your butt you know." I giggled lightly while jabbing him as he half-heartedly glared back at me.

"Yeah right. It's confidence! C-O-N-F-I-D-E-N-C-E! Not arrogance." He retorted back. We both continued to banter back and forth. Even as we went into a restaurant and sat down. I relaxed into the conversation letting small smile gather on my face even though it was fake. I don't think he could tell which is a good thing. While half of my mind was still on the conversation with Austin, the other half of my mind reeled with pain as thought back to what Austin said.

"We got into the army again!"
