BOOM!

The thunder punctuated the night. The wind whispered with a loud voice. Nocturnal creatures wailed. The trees rustled in the wind. A lone wolf howled somewhere nearby.

And then, Silence.

Loud silence. Ear-piercing, deafening, nerve-racking silence. The type that gets the hair on your skin standing on end. The creepy silence that comes with a bad feeling, when you know something is terribly wrong but you can't just place a finger on what exactly is.

Then it happened.

The screams pierced through the silence and could be heard for miles on end.

Everybody watched as the severed head flew upwards and the limp body fell as though it was lighter than a feather and couldn't stand the disturbance of the wind.

Nobody dared move, as he who led them gathered his cloak around him, tightening the strings of the hood.

He stood with all magnificence, the royal scythe stained with the blood of the just murdered demon.

He faced the congregation of the other demons from the underworld whose faces tried to refrain from showing emotions for their lost brother.

His gaze wandered through the legions, inspecting, daring one of them to speak, challenge him and face his wrath. Finally, he let his eyes rest on one of them. The new chosen one.

"You there." He beckoned, pointing at the almost completely hidden silhouette.

"Come hither" ...
