"Do you see them anywhere?" Kye called down from Endra's back. Endra shook her head as the ground below them disappeared in a blur of trees and water. The forest was green and lush that midsummer day.

"Nothing! Those guards must've been seeing things if they thought that group would be here" Endra called back up. A sickening feeling was creeping trough her as the thought of invasion came to mind. Without Mineral, what'll they do? Kye was a great leader, but the people were suspicious about their former leader's disappearance. 

And how were they going to explain it? They already lied and said she just went to a neighboring kingdom to visit some friends. But after a month of her being gone it was getting hard to break the tension. Even some of the guards at the castle were starting to act weird. It was all Brandon could do to stay above it and settle them down sometimes.

"They said they were here though!" Kye's voice cut through the wind. She was perched on Endra's back peering over to the ground. "Look! There's still smoke coming from something over there! Head down so we can check it out"

Endra nodded and tilted her wings towards the ground. Maybe it wasn't too late.

Crystal followed the group out of the glade slightly confused. They had invited her to stay with them, and of course she agreed. She had no where else to go. But they didn't talk to her much after that. Well, Except for Josie that is. She seemed way to eager to talk to her. 

"So Crystal!" Josie called from the back of her small pony as she rode up beside her "What's it like living with Steve and not your real dad?" 

Crystal shot her a confused look. That little girl always asked the weirdest questions. 

"First off, he's my real dad. Second, its literally just a regular life. We move around a lot but that's just part of his job. Nothing more to it" Crystal replied. There were a few snickers from the rest of the group and she rolled her eyes. These people were really starting to bug her with their rude remarks and personal questions. She'd find someone else to travel with as soon as they reached a big enough city. Maybe if she could make it to a shrine she could call up Notch and ask him to take her in until-

"Hey! You even listening?" Leroy's voice cut through her train of thought. She sighed and looked over.

"What?" She asked.

"I asked" Leroy repeated tiredly "do you really think you're pulling wool over our eyes with these stories?" he asked, raising an eyebrow accusingly.

"I've got no idea what you're talking about" Crystal replied shortly. It caught her off guard and she stopped. Where'd that tone come from?

"sure you don't" Josie snickered "Just like Connie doesn't have a massive  crush on Herobrine" She smirked. Connie blushed a deep red lighting up her pale face.  She scooped up a rock and threw it at Josie in retaliation.

"At least I don't fantasize about running off to the nether" She replied "Or bring up my best friend's deepest secrets"

"everyone already knew that Connie" Leroy said. Connie grumbled and kicked a rock. 

Crystal shook her head. These people were seriously messed up. Maybe if she knew where they were going she could find one of Steve's old friends. He had some everywhere after all.

"Save your bickering until we get back to the base. Your parents'll want to know about everything again" Serge cut in. Crystal jumped surprised as she heard his voice from right behind her "and they'll want to meet her as well. Your pop especially Leroy" 

Crystal kept walking stiffly. She'd disappear. Yea, before they even realized she'd be long gone. 

Serge walked up to the front and motioned for the group to stop. Before she could even react the others were around her, but looking at Serge. She was unintentionally surrounded.

"I can't wait to show you around" Josie beamed. She stood right next to Crystal and held her arm with an iron grip. "You'll love it. It's one of the biggest underground bases in all of minecraftia. Although, no one realizes it's here since it's so well hidden and secretive but all of the worlds biggest leaders come here sometimes. I've even seen Prince B-" 

Crystal toned out. Underground base? Maybe she could dig her way out. Or even just pretend to have dug into it. Wait, no. That might be worse. She didn't want to get thrown in jail. No, she'd have to do something else. Maybe say she just got lost and was looking for a breath of fresh air?

Serge walked up to a tree and pulled a hidden lever. The ground under the group fell away and they tumbled down into darkness. Crystal let out a surprised scream that quickly turned to one of terror as they fell, and fell, and fell. Serge smirked and jumped in right before it closed back up again.

Phil poked at the fire. Jonas and Colin were asleep in the  tent behind him. They had to stop early because of Colin's scare. They got a couple more miles in and were just getting into the forest when he said he was getting tired, even though he wasn't walking. Phil hadn't set him down the whole time, just in case.

So they stopped for a quick rest, that turned into an hour nap. That turned into a two hour nap. That then turned into Phil going out and getting dinner and getting it ready for when they woke up so they could keep moving. 

He had lost himself in thought as he cooked the pork chops he had gotten. Questions of 'was this the right thing?' and 'what's safer' kept popping up in his head. And in all honesty, he wasn't sure. 

He was so deep in thought, he didn't hear the wingbeats above him until it was too late.
