TANGLED | SLEEPING BEAUTY
This one-shot isn't completely canon, as it is merely a crossover with my friend tinkertaydust's story Tangled, which is the first Disney/Marvel story here and inspired Sleeping Beauty, though there are aspects of this that might sing to canon later on depending on how future fics pan out, but just take things at face value, don't ask too many questions because the answer is too complicated at the moment/will always be too complicated.

AURORA AND PHILLIP DIDN'T KNOW WHAT THEY WERE JUMPING INTO.
The creation of the portal was an explanation so long and convoluted that neither had paid too much attention to it, but they were happy to volunteer to help, even if Phillip was more dragged along than anything; Aurora liked being helpful whenever possible, especially since she was now making decisions for herself.
They jumped through the portal, Aurora happily dragging along her boyfriend, and stumbled onto the streets of Manhattan, the two grabbing onto each other to help the other gain their bearings, Aurora placing a hand on Phillip's chest and he a hand on the small of her back.
"Huh," Aurora said, looking around, glancing at Phillip who had his hands on his hips, "Didn't they say we were looking for people in another dimension?"
"Rora, I'm gonna be honest with you, I don't listen, I just do whatever seems right at the time, and that was braiding your hair and polishing the cool shield your godmothers made me, so this is on you," he said, smiling as he patted her shoulder, hissing when she elbowed him in the stomach.
"I'm gonna call them and see what went wrong," Aurora sniffed, turning away from her boyfriend with a huff as she raised the special phone Nicky Green made to her ear, effectively ignoring him, her chin raised and demeanor cold.
"Rory, where are you?" Gazelle asked, sounding like she was underwater.
"We're in Manhattan, I can't see the street signs, but we're in the city," she said, looking around, puffing out her cheeks, wishing she was better with directions, only to squeak when Phillip smoothly took the phone from her.
"You dumped us on the Upper East Side and my phone is dead, do you think you could bring us back home?" he asked, making a face when she took the phone from him, the two sticking their tongues out at each other in mock annoyance.
Truthfully, when Aurora turned around to continue talking with her godmother, Phillip gave her the warmest melted smile he had to offer, but she didn't need to know that, at least not when she was huffy with him.
"We can't trace you right now, you're going to have to give us some time," Gazelle said, and Aurora frowned.
"What do you mean, Phillip told you where we were," she asked, reaching out for her boyfriend who took her hand, wrapping an arm around her waist as she leaned her head against his chest, breaking out into a cold sweat as she felt panic rising.
"Honey, you're not in our universe anymore, you jumped through the portal," Rosalee said, taking over the phone, Marisol shouting in the background, even more muffled than usual, "It'll be okay, we'll locate you and bring you home. In the meantime, explore, try not to drive yourselves crazy if there are too many differences."
"Okay," Aurora said, taking a deep breath as she looked at Phillip who nodded, having listened in, "Are there other versions of us around?"
"There might be, I don't know," Nicky Green said, "Try not to interact with them, it might be weird. And don't freak out if you're not dating."
"Hi, true love is universally constant," Phillip called, reveling in the squeal and bright smile it elicited from Aurora who kissed his cheek.
"Just make the most of it kids, we were really just testing to see if this could even work," Marisol called, and, with that, the phone cut out and died.
"We're stranded here, and I don't even know where we are. Should we find Peter? Do you think he's still Spider-Man here?" Aurora asked, her words slurring together as she looked around, panicked, and Phillip shushed her.
"It's gonna be okay," he said, pressing a kiss to her forehead, cradling her head in his hands, "I don't really want to find out what kind of hijinks this world's Peter Parker gets up to, 'cause if he's still Spider-Man, who knows what could happen? Maybe someone died on his watch, I don't want to know that."
"What if he isn't dating Diana?" Aurora gasped, and Phillip physically gagged, shaking his head and ushering her down the sidewalk, ignoring her questions as to where they were going.
The only reason why he knew where they were going was because he recognized this part of Manhattan very well. It was the Upper East Side, alright: Lennox Hill. The same place where his father's bakery was located, and as much as he loathed the place, it was where he first thought to check. Maybe this time he wouldn't throw up.
Aurora soon caught on to his plan, holding his hand as they made their way around, singing to fill the silence, and Phillip couldn't help but smile as he listened to her sing the song from the musical she loved so dearly.
"Flower, gleam and glow. Let your power shine. Make the clock reverse. Bring back what once was mine," she went on, her voice light and airy, and Phillip nearly rammed into a street post listening to her.
"I liked that musical, I'm glad we saw it. The girl's wig was kind of..." he trailed off, and Aurora nodded in agreement, shrugging.
"It's a great show, though, I love that it's set all in one night, it's so romantic," she swooned, holding up a hand to stop him from speaked, "I'm allowed to have opinions, and I like romance, don't say anything."
Phillip snorted, pointing in front of them. "I was just gonna point out that we're about a block away, so I'm warning you in advance, I kept be held responsible for what I do to my other universe father and his bakery. Oh God, what if I find myself there still taste testing, I'm gonna kill him. Myself. Us?"
Aurora allowed him to keep rambling as she narrowed her eyes, watching as they approached a shop tinier than the one Phillip had brought her, taking in the pretty yellow sun painted on the glass window and the dainty set up. At the top was a yellow sign with currently off yellow lights that read: CORONA BAKERY.
"Phillip," she whispered, tugging on his arm, "I don't...I don't think we're at the right place."
"Sure, we are," Phillip said, avoiding eye contact with the bakery altogether, instead pointing to the street signs, "I know this place well, I'm still heir apparent to the whole operation, I'm the prince to the king after all—"
"No, I mean your dad's bakery isn't here anymore," she said, forcing him to tear his gaze away from the rat scurrying along the gutter to look at a bakery which held a lot less fanfare than the one he was used to.
Aurora watched Phillip's face closely, holding his hand. It was a shock for her, she couldn't imagine what a shock it must have been for him, as it begged the question of whether he existed in this universe, what his life was if he did. It was an existential crisis waiting to happen.
But, instead, the boy furrowed his brow and adjusted his sunglasses. "Here's what I'm thinking, because now I'm mad: We're gonna go inside and you're gonna taste some of their sweets and see if they're up to par while I try not to throw up. Plan?"
Aurora worried on her bottom lip, looking around at the cute little neighborhood that was so different from what it was like back in their universe, her stomach churning. "Will you be okay?"
He reached out and squeezed her hand. "If I don't throw up, we call it a win, okay?"
Aurora tried not to think of the implications of Phillip making light of his issues, instead tugging him along, the two peering inside the bakery to find it much smaller in size, but with a good number of tables and chairs, people lined up and chatting with each other, which was strange to see.
"This universe is weird," Phillip mumbled lowly, giving a pursed lipped smile to a man he didn't know as he and Aurora fell into line, adjusting his sunglasses as he looked on at the desserts.
"These look good!" Aurora chirped, leaning forward to look at the pastries through the glass, cooing at the crown shaped tarts and cookies shaped just like the sun logo painted on the glass.
Phillip leaned forward as well, breathing through his mouth. "They're cute. Crowns, you think this place is like my dad's? Is there a prince?"
"Actually, it's a princess!"
The two interlopers looked up to find a girl with short brown hair and a bright smile, looking at the two of them bashfully, tucking a stray strand of hair behind her ear. "Well, sort of. That's what everyone called me back before they found me again, I was the lost princess of Corona Bakery in Lennox Hill. But now I'm back, but we still give out the free cupcakes, but now it's on my reappearance anniversary. Sorry, wait, I keep forgetting not to overshare with customers, can I get you two anything?"
Aurora blinked, processing all her words, finally taking in the last sentence, opening and closing her mouth, stuttering, "What-what currency do you take?"
The girl didn't seem too fazed, though looked a little surprised by her question. "Well, we take cash or credit. American dollars."
"Great," Aurora sighed with relief, glancing over to Phillip who flashed her his wallet filled with cash and card, "Well, I've never been here, what do you like?"
"I love everything!" the girl squealed, glancing towards the people who were standing in line, "Please go ahead, I think we're going to be here a while. If that's alright with you, most people don't usually make conversation with me like this, I'm really excited."
"I'd love to hear!" Aurora chirped, and Phillip's gaze darted between the two girls, his eyes wide and their smiles wider.
"Yay!" the girl cheered, clapping, "Also, I'm Rapunzel Whittmore, it's nice to meet you. My parents own the bakery, if that wasn't already clear."
"That's so great!" Aurora said, as if her boyfriend wasn't already the son of a wealthier baker and businessman, "I'm Aurora Kaili. Also, what is that cookie supposed to be?"
She was pointing to a cookie shaped in an oval with one tip more pointed than the other, red frosting with black lines shaped like webs with narrowed white eyes. They were positioned towards the corner in a nice display, and Aurora couldn't help but find them familiar.
"Oh, these are Spider-Man cookies! He's a really good friend of mine, actually, and I decided I might as well make him a cookie! I designed most of these, actually, all the ones that are new, anyways. I really like art, but I didn't bake them, but my boyfriend actually works here, he made this batch, I think," Rapunzel explained, glancing back behind her towards the door leading to the kitchen, giving Aurora and Phillip time to whisper.
"Do you think it's Peter?" she asked, and Phillip shrugged, watching as the girl turned back to Rapunzel who continued to talk about all of the pastries, Aurora's eyes growing wider by the second.
Finally, Phillip caved. "Hey, I have an idea. How about we get one of each, then Rapunzel can just tell us about these outside on the table?" His voice was strained, like his throat was closing, and Aurora was shocked back to reality—at least, the reality of the universe she was in—looking at him fearfully.
"Yes, can we please do that?" she asked, her tone rushed, and Rapunzel's smile dropped, replaced with a look of concern as she began to place the pastries into individually wrapped bags, motioning for them to make their way to the register.
"Oh!" she said, smiling brightly as she bumped into someone making their way out of the kitchen, "Eugene! I made some friends, go to the side and wait for us, we're going to talk more, are you on your break?"
"Hey, Punzel," the boy greeted, kissing her on the forehead, "And yeah, I am, I'll just be over there. And see? I told you, you could make friends with anyone, you're too lovable."
Rapunzel blushed a pretty pink and Aurora looked up at Phillip who was watching the scene closely with an unreadable expression. When he caught her looking, he reached out and twirled a strand of her hair around his finger, the way he always did, and she gave him a small smile, reaching out to stroke one of the many white scars he still had littering his face and arms.
"Okay, that will be..." Rapunzel sang, skipping over and ringing up their order, "Yikes." She bit her lip and tapped the number shown on the screen, one eye screwed shut as she waited for their reaction.
Aurora was horrified, but Phillip was unfazed, handing her more than enough with a mumbled, "Keep the change."
"O-oh," Rapunzel said, watching as Phillip helped Aurora gather the bags, making their way towards the door, Aurora giving her an apologetic look, watching as the older girl hurried to put away the money, pocketing the change and scurrying over to the gate, pulling off her apron and handing it over to another one of the employees, calling out a goodbye.
"Come on!" she squealed, grabbing Eugene's hand, the boy tugging her back for a moment, placing a light hand on her waist, smiling down at her as she blushed, placing a hand on his arm, the other on his chest, "Hi, Eugene."
"Hi, Rapunzel," he said softly, glancing towards the couple that were standing by the table right outside, the boy hunched over his knees while the girl rubbed his back, "Who're your new friends?"
"That's Aurora, but I don't know the boy's name. I think they're dating, but I don't want to assume. Guys and girls can just be friends," she said, nodding dutifully at her final sentence, Eugene smiling and nodding.
"You and Bug Boy made that real clear. Now, c'mon, don't leave your new friends waiting," he said, holding out his arm for her to take, Rapunzel giggling as she linked their arms, surging forward and dragging him along with a yelp.
"Hi!" the girl called out, catching the attention of the couple, Phillip putting his sunglasses back on and Aurora giving a smile.
"This is my boyfriend Eugene, I didn't catch your name, sorry," she said, addressing Phillip who was taking in the boy before him.
He was a little taller than the other boy, but in terms of hair, it was clear Eugene had him beat. Phillip was used to being lower on the category in terms of hair, his cousin Eric having much nicer styled hair with curls while he had lost his, now simply straight and going whatever direction his hair guided it to. Eugene's was almost similar, but it was longer, much more thick and luscious, and if Phillip wasn't dutifully in love with Aurora, he would have definitely been imaging running his hand through those locks and kissing that boy.
But Aurora ruined all people for him, so Eugene was simply a pretty face and slight competition.
"Phillip Prince," he introduced, holding out his hand, finding himself reverting back to the techniques his father always taught him, breaking out into a cold sweat from sheer fear.
"Oh, so that's why you were talking about a prince," Rapunzel said, looking over to where Aurora was sifting through the bags, "Which one are you looking for."
"Found it!" the younger girl cheered, pulling out the Spider-Man cookie, tugging on Phillip's arm, "Take a picture of me biting into it so we can show Peter when we get back, he'll find it funny that I'm eating him."
Phillip's eyes widened and he pursed his lips. "Honey...we're in public."
Aurora's gaze shifted towards Rapunzel and Eugene who were staring at them with wide eyes. It could never be said that Aurora didn't, at times, revert back to her less than aware self. "Um...that was a jok—"
"You know Peter?" Rapunzel cried, eyes shining, and the two shared a look, glancing to Eugene who was frowning.
"We know a Peter Parker who's also Spider-Man, but he's not yours," Phillip explained, pushing up his sunglasses, "It's a long story that we don't even know, but we're not from your dimension, so let's just take that at face value."
Eugene blinked. "Bye."
Rapunzel caught his arm before he turned around and left, holding on tightly as she looked at the two of them with curiosity. "Tell us about your Peter. So we know you're not lying."
"Well, our universe Peter's probably different than yours," Aurora said, looking over to Phillip who was holding her phone, pausing to smile so he could take a picture, the Spider-Man cookie still uneaten and partly in her mouth.
Phillip turned to Eugene. "He's a super nerd who think he's all clever in the suit, but he's really just a stumbling idiot who's smart enough to go to MIT, but dumb enough to try and push a door that clearly says pull."
"Yeah, that sounds like our Peter," Eugene said, his hands on his hips, and held up his hands when Rapunzel shot him a sharp glare, Phillip receiving the same treatment from Aurora.
The still apron-clad boy addressed the other boy. "Does she also have a really strong attachment to the nerd?"
"Yeah, but I do too," Phillip admitted, rubbing the back of his neck, "He's a sweet kid. Ours cries a lot, so that's really rough, I don't like people crying."
"Oof," Eugene winced, "But I gotta agree, he's alright. I like his girlfriend a lot more, she seems really cool, right, Punzie?"
"Yeah," Rapunzel said, nodding cheerfully, "Florence is the best, she's so smart and pretty and she and Peter are super cute together, we hang out together every Saturday!"
The two watched as Aurora gasped, a hand thrown over her mouth, Phillip bracing a hand on the table as he choked and gagged, groaning lowly as he began to sink to his knees, reaching for Aurora's other hand, the girl nearly breaking skin with how hard her nails were digging in.
"He doesn't have Florence in your world?" Rapunzel asked, she and Eugene looking equally shocked.
Wordlessly, Aurora took her phone and opened up her photos, showing a picture of herself, Phillip, Peter, and his girlfriend Diana Smith at an arcade, the blonde girl hopped up on her boyfriend's back, grinning brightly.
"She's pretty," Rapunzel murmured, and while her words were sincere, her tone was off, as uncomfortable with the situation as the others were, looking at Eugene's phone to see the girl that had won over their Peter Parker.
"Why don't we talk about ourselves instead of what's different in our universes," Aurora offered, her breathing shallow as she forced herself to finish off the Spider-Man cookie, still finding humor in the entire situation.
"Let me tell you about the crown tarts," Rapunzel said, grinning brightly as she took Aurora's hand, leading her to the table, the two rifling around the various paper bags they had, both of them singing for the crown tart to appear.
Phillip took deep breaths, forcing himself to keep looking as they opened the bags, trying to keep from throwing up. He felt a nudge on his arm and he looked to find Eugene frowning at him.
"You okay?" the older boy asked, and Phillip shrugged, finding himself grimacing as he watched Aurora take a picture of the crown tart before taking a bite, making a pleased sound at the taste.
"My dad's a baker and I really, really hate sugar," the boy explained, turning his attention back to his girlfriend, his lips curling into a fond smile as he watched her and Rapunzel talk.
"Your boyfriend's really cute," Rapunzel whispered, and Aurora couldn't help but giggle, shrugging as she continued to search for another sweet.
"Yeah, he is. But Eugene is too, his hair is so floofy, and he's so sweet to you," Aurora said, and Rapunzel blushed, nodding as she handed her a cupcake with purple frosting, a fondant lantern sitting on top.
"He's really sweet," Rapunzel said, glancing over to Eugene who gave her a small wave, "Why, is Phillip not nice to you?"
"No, he is!" Aurora said, surprised by how forceful she was, "He's super sweet, and he's a lot less sharp than when we really got to know each other, but we were all on edge, because I was dying."
Rapunzel gasped. "You were dying?" Her green eyes were wide with concern, but also with a glimmer of curiosity.
"Yeah! I'm a mutant, and I was cursed by this woman who is now kind of my friend to fall asleep at random times, then go into a coma three days before my sixteenth birthday, die at sunrise unless I completed this list of instructions, and that's how I got to know Phillip and learned that Peter was Spider-Man. How did you meet him?" she asked, figuring that it was best not to dive into too much detail, as she wasn't sure if mutants were even around in this universe.
"Oh, well, my old mother, Gothel, had actually kidnapped me from my real parents, and I...I kind of miss her, but I don't really think too much of it. It was my birthday and I wanted to see the lights from Times Square, because I was never allowed to leave my room, and Spider-Man kept me from falling and took me around. I met Eugene because he stole my bracelet, and we went on this huge adventure, and I found out that I was actually the lost princess of Corona Bakery. My hair also used to be blonde and glow and heal people, but now it's cut off, so it doesn't really matter anymore," Rapunzel explained, and Aurora listened closely, her own brown eyes wide as she listened to the now-brunette tell her own story.
"But now I'm okay," Rapunzel chirped, thrusting another paper bag into Aurora's hand, "Are you okay now?"
"Yeah, I'm okay now! I still live with my godmothers, but I have more friends now and I can choose when I go to sleep," the younger girl said, pulling out a cookie that was shaped like the sun logo, "This looks so good."
"Thanks!" Rapunzel giggled, "What are your hobbies? I really, really like to paint, do you like to paint?"
"Oh, I've never really tried, but I love gardening and I love animals and plants, I'm actually really good with them, so I like volunteering at the animal shelters," Aurora replied, glancing over to Eugene who had stepped forward, offering her a bottle of water, "Thank you!"
Eugene stepped back to Phillip who was watching the exchange with a smile. "Did yours have any weird powers?"
"She can astral project in her sleep and used to always fall asleep randomly. It was a curse, but I was actually the only one who could override it for a little bit, which is pretty sweet," Phillip said, and Eugene snorted at how proud he sounded when he explained, "What about yours?"
"Her hair glowed," the boy said simply, and Phillip nodded, humming as he looked at the brunette whose hair had grown out since it was first cut.
"She seems really great," Phillip said, "Rapunzel, I mean, you two have something really nice going on."
"Yeah, she's amazing," Eugene said, his lips curling into a soft smile without his knowing, "I'm pinching myself every day, I don't know how I wound up with someone so amazing. And Aurora's cute, a bubbly type like Punzie."
"Oh, she's the best," Phillip said, looking to Aurora who was currently admiring another cupcake, "Yeah, she's really bubbly, she likes to talk to dogs we bump into at parks, and she's always singing and dancing, like a Disney princess."
"You don't sound too happy about it," Eugene said, and Phillip shook his head quickly, clearing his throat.
"No, I love her, but I just hate I treat her, I'm not as nice to her as you are to your girlfriend," the boy explained, taking a deep breath and running his hands through his hair, "I mean, I'm nice, sure, but I don't like being all touchy unless we're alone, but I know she wants someone to do the whole nine yards with the twirl hugs and leg pops and I take her on dates all the time, but I don't—"
"God, who are you, Parker?" Eugene scoffed, patting his back to stop him, the taller boy clamping his mouth shut, his jaw clenched, "Ease up, Prince, it's gonna be okay. Look, do you think she's unhappy?"
"I don't know, she's still figuring out what she likes and what she doesn't, she wasn't allowed to have an opinion until now, so just wait until she finds she could do better—" Phillip jumped when Eugene clapped a hand over his mouth, giving him an unimpressed look.
"I stole my girlfriend's bracelet and work at her parents' bakery. I don't have much to give her, but I love her a lot, and as long as you love her and care enough to respect her, I don't see what you're worried about," Eugene said, and Phillip only sighed, waiting for the other boy to take his hand away, but it was clear that the older boy wanted at least a solid minute of silence.
While the two boys stared each other down, Phillip still wearing his sunglasses, Aurora and Rapunzel took a moment to stop from eating to talk about themselves and what they were worried about.
"I'm still getting used to this big world, there was so much I was never taught and there's so much I have to learn, I'm scared I won't know it all," Rapunzel explained, her feet planted on the seat part of the chair, the rest of her body balanced on the top of the back.
"That must be so difficult," Aurora sighed, giving her a sympathetic look, "All my life, I never really had an opinion, I just hid and let my godmothers do all my thinking for me, unless I was at school. But I do thinking for myself now, but it's still hard to know what to do and understanding certain stuff is difficult."
Rapunzel reached out to take her hand. "But now we can learn all this stuff and we've got great people to help us."
"I always heard it was weak to have other people help you," Aurora mumbled, thinking to some conversations she had heard about people complaining about female characters asking for help.
"That's silly, everyone needs help. Friends are an important part of life, there's even a song about it. You can't let your friends do everything for you, but it takes a lot of strength to ask for help, that's what Eugene told me, and he knows a lot about being alone..." she trailed off then, looking to her boyfriend who was shaking Phillip, forcing him to repeat words that they couldn't hear.
"I wish we lived in the same universe, I really like talking to you," Aurora said, and Rapunzel cooed, nodding earnestly, "But I'm sure my godmothers could come up with something."
"Why did you even try to go to another dimension in the first place?" Rapunzel asked, but before Aurora could respond, the phone her Nicky Green had made her started to ring.
"Get ready, the portal is opening in about a minute," the man said before hanging up, and Aurora let out a pained sound, catching the attention of Phillip who already started towards her, ready to help.
"It's time to go," she said, pouting and Phillip softened, giving her a sad look, glancing towards Rapunzel and Eugene who both seemed sad to see them go.
"I'm going to miss you," Rapunzel cried, reaching her hands out towards the slightly taller girl who hugged her tightly.
"I'll miss you too," Aurora cried, "You and your really cute cookies."
"Good luck, man," Eugene said, hugging Phillip, patting him on the back while the boy tried to figure out what to do with his hands, only used to being hugged by his girlfriend.
"Thanks," he mumbled, turning towards Rapunzel who held out her hands, a full foot shorter than him.
She wrapped her arms around him, hugging him close. "I hope you and your Peter get to be better friends and you sort out everything with your dad's bakery. I'm sorry you don't like it there, but I hope you liked it here."
He smiled, hugging her back and resting his chin on the top of her head. "Yeah, I like your place much better. You have fun being the princess of this bakery. Maybe I'll take up being the prince of my dad's one day."
Aurora smiled as she hugged Eugene who bent down, his hair tickling her nose, and she laughed. "It was nice to meet you, Eugene, I hope you and Rapunzel have a good time with the rest of your lives. Maybe we'll see you soon."
"Yeah," the boy agreed, "With any luck, you'll get invitations to our wedding. Whenever that'll be." He laughed as Aurora squealed, bouncing on her toes at the psuedo-news.
Just then, a portal opened right behind her and she sighed, reaching out to Phillip who seemed ready to hold her, an arm wrapped around her waist and his other hand holding hers.
"It was nice meeting you," Aurora said, "Tell your Peter we say hi, and Florence too. Maybe we'll drop by sometime again, bring our Peter along so you can meet."
"Two Peters?" Eugene snorted, "No thanks." With a sharp elbow from Rapunzel he winced, laughing as he shook his head. "I'm kidding. That'd be great, Aurora."
"Get home safe!" Rapunzel said, struggling not to rush over and hug the girl again, the two waving at each other.
"Thanks, you guys," Phillip said, nodding to the two, his words holding more meaning than expected.
With one last goodbye, the two turned and stepped into their portal.
º º º
Life returned to normal for the two couples.
Of course, Aurora and Rapunzel both immediately told their Peters about what happened, both versions shocked at the news, but delighted at the proof of the multiverse, shouting, "I knew it!" the exact same way; it seemed some things never changed.
But there was only so much they could tell and, at the end of the day, it was just Rapunzel and Eugene up in her room looking out her bayview window, and Aurora and Phillip sprawled across her canopy bed.
"I really liked them," Rapunzel said, and Eugene smiled, brushing her cheek lightly with his finger.
"I know you did. I did too, they were cool," he said, and she giggled, tugging at a strand of his hair.
"I wonder what they're up to now," she mused, settling against his chest, his arms wrapping around her.
In fact, as the two were conversing in their own dimension, the other couple were talking in their own, Aurora partly resting on Phillip's chest, propping herself up as he looked up at her, giving her a small smile.
"What were you talking about with Eugene?" she asked, looking down at his eyes which were no longer covered by his sunglasses.
He sighed slightly, reaching up to twirl a strand of hair around his finger. "I just...I'm sorry I'm not the perfect princely boyfriend who wanted."
"What do you mean?" she asked, furrowing her brow as she sat up more, her hands braced on his chest, looking down at him in confusion.
He sighed, sitting up and pulling her into his lap, smiling when the top of her head fit snugly against his chin as he hugged her, breathing deeply before saying, "I just saw how nice Eugene was to Rapunzel, and I don't think I'm all that nice to you."
Aurora leaned back, her hands cradling Phillip's head in her hands, her thumb brushing his cheek lightly, touching the scars he would probably have forever. "You've always been one of the nicest to me, Phillip."
"That's because you haven't met that many people," he argued, but she shushed him, kissing him sweetly, her heart fluttering as he held her tighter.
He groaned as he pulled away, burying his face in the crook of her neck, preening as she ran her hands through his hair. "I just want to be the boyfriend you want."
"You are the boyfriend I want," she said, hugging him, "Eugene seems like a great boyfriend—no, he's probably an amazing boyfriend. But I don't want to date Eugene, I want to date you, and it's okay if you don't call me pretty every two seconds. You still take me to school dances even if you like dancing with just me in my room more, it's okay. You're a great boyfriend too, Phillip."
"He has better hair than me," Phillip mumbled, and she giggled, pulling away to kiss his nose.
"He does," she agreed, laughing as she kissed his pout away, "But I like your hair too. Even more than your cousin's."
As the two continued to talk, Phillip playing with Aurora's hair and she running her fingers over his scars, Rapunzel shifted in Eugene's arms, looking up at him, waiting for his response.
"You know," he said, a strange feeling in his chest, "I think they're just like us."
She raised her head, raising an eyebrow. "Meaning?"
He smiled, holding her close. "I think they're doing just fine."
She smiled brightly, settling down next to him. "So they'll live happily ever after."
AUTHOR'S NOTE
This got really long, but I'm kinda proud, I hope I did Rapunzel and Eugene justice, I was really worried about how I was gonna portray them. I really like polarizing everything, what with how much sweeter Punzie and Eugene were than Aurora and Phillip, and since we both had bakeries in ours, I figured I'd just completely fall into it and say it was in the same place, because I never specified in the fic itself, so I figured I would now.
Also, because I wanna point it out, Phillip only took off his sunglasses when he was with Aurora, which says a lot about their relationship, also for Rapunzel and Eugene I had her tug his hair and him stroke her cheek but it's flipped for Aurora and Phillip who strokes his cheek and tugs her hair respectively. I like doing stuff like this, sue me.
Thanks for reading and I hope you enjoyed!
