CHAPTER 7 : Enshrouded Feelings
ME : Dr. Shin already gave the answers to your questions.
*In Doctor's cabin*
He asked me to take a seat while he walked to his chair, the table inbetween parting both. I couldn't grab much of his cabin, JaeRa's concern occupied me all over. However, the name plaque resting on his table with white letters engraved on the black marble, fairly stood out to me.
"신 석 (Shin Seok)", I read in my mind before the owner of the same snapped me out.
Dr. SHIN : Her child is safe and is under observation for today, just in case. He will be moved to the general ward by tomorrow. But...
ME : But what?
Dr.SHIN : But, she has some serious head injuries which might have caused by her trying to (-mimicking the action he was telling-) save her belly.
ME : W-what does that suppose to mean? Is she...?
Dr. SHIN : No, no, she is fine. But, she has gone to a Coma and we are hoping it's temporary. Besides, in easy words, since there was a few brain damages, she might have a chance to develop a Post-traumatic amnesia.
ME : Is that meaning, she would lose her memories?
Dr.SHIN : Well, not everything. A Post-traumatic amnesia mainly refers to the inability of the patient to register the events occurring after the injury. The brain functioning is disoriented and they might find it difficult or impossible to recall their names, what time it is, where they are. Things like that.
ME : I- I see.
Dr.SHIN : But, this is a mere possibility and is something we can tell only after she wakes up. I would advise, please be patient with her and take care.
ME : Deh. Thank you doctor.
I took Mr.Kim to the whole nine yard ride of the Dr. Shin's cabin. He responded with his silence contemplating over the situation. Temples intensified and furrowed eyebrows, analyzing my words as he stared into the space.
ME : (-after a length of silence-) So, we can atleast hope she loses her memory of Taehyung. If not, there aren't scarcity of ways which can turn her into a psychic patient. So, leave it to me. I will do all it takes to prevent her from coming here.
Mr. KIM : (-relieving his facial features-) I will trust you with that, then. But, what about the divorce?
ME : Well, I had a thought on that but, if I don't succeed on getting your son sign them then we will call it off. Afterall, you don't need divorce papers for his dead wife.
He laughed making my work easier as he came to comply with my plan quite in a short time and with less need for persuasion.
Mr . KIM : (-nodding-) I will take care of the hospital and other stuffs. You don't have to worry about that. You can leave with her for America by tonight.
I gave him a smile nod receiving his offer that I was about to ask him of.
ME : Thank you, Mr.Kim.
*Present Time*
I did go to Korea after a month, but I never thought that getting his sign on those papers would be that dead trouble-free. It just gave me a helping hand to make Jae Ra believe that her husband left her.
It was of a great fortune that she didn't remember anything from when she found out that I was after her father's will(legal document) and patrimony. Nothing could be more perfect and fitting in.
In a while, busy triumphing over my victory, I noticed her gaining consciousness.
JAE RA's POV
As I slowly tried to open my eyes, I saw my Uncle sitting with the same tensed expression like last time.
UNCLE : Are you awake?
ME : (-smile-) Deh. I am sorry for making you worried.
UNCLE : Don't say that. You are just like my daughter.
I smiled at his warm conduct and after a few moments, managed to sit up as Uncle helped me to incline my bed and lean against it.
ME : Uncle.
UNCLE : (-lifting his head from the magazine he was reading-) Yes, dear. Do you need anything?
ME : I wanna go back to Korea. I remember I was an English teacher in a High school so I wanna return to that life.
UNCLE : No, you can't. (-strong denial-)
ME : (-softly-) But, why?
UNCLE : (-closing the magazine-) I just came from Dr. Mike's cabin. He said that I should be careful so that you don't get involved in any kind of situation related to your lost memory. He asked me to keep you away from the places and people whom you met in the past 2 years for your better health.
ME : So, I lost 2 years of my memory?
UNCLE : (-soft voice-) I don't want you to get any worse, Jae Ra-ya. I don't want to lose you. You know right, I was all alone after your aunt passed away? Your brother(cousin) also stays away in Canada since he was five. I had and have only you.
I nodded weakly reminiscing such happenings from my childhood. No denying, I missed my brother.
We were best of friends and nothing could do us apart until one day when Uncle decided to send him aboard for boarding after his fifth birthday.
After he was gone, I became a loner only to meet my neighbour, Seo-In, who was there all these time but I was too busy with my brother to notice her.
However, fate separated us eventually. She left to Australia after our middle school and we lost contact a year later she left.
I was snapped back with Uncle drawing my attention.
UNCLE : You can do something here too. I will help you get a job here. You trust your Uncle, right?
ME : Of course, you are like my dad. (-sweet smiles-)

3 YEARS LATER
.
.
.
I took a tourism course in New York and was successfully an expert active since 2 years.
I worked in a big tourism company and mainly guided Korean tourists. This sometimes included celebrities too, who would travel to NewYork for a vacation since I was fluent both in Korean and English.
Ironically, I met many Korean celebrities after coming to America when I had stayed in the former for about 24 years.
I was having a day off to pamper myself, take a break from all the hectic work of thirtysix months constant. I wanted to treat myself, that I held in even after going through a hard time for such a length.
I woke up later than usual, and checked my phone as I always did.
While randomly scrolling through my newsfeed, I stopped at the most adorable picture.
Watching the captures, I could see through these beautiful moments. It had brought the widest smile on my face as I cherished every tiny details of them.
It was the best start of the day I thought– strangely feeling a close connection with them.
"May be because I am his fan?" I sighed in disbelief at my thoughts. "What are you thinking Jae ra? How can Taehyung have anything to do with you?"
I looked back at those pictures and saved them, quite an usual task, whenever he posted something of them together.
ME : (-wondering to myself-) But, why doesn't he post any pictures with his wife?
I freshened up smacking away the unproductive thoughts of nosing in someone's personal life.
Putting on the some casual outfit, I headed downstairs for breakfast only to be stopped by a call mid-way. It was an unknown number so I contemplated for a hot second whether to receive it or ignore.
