Ch.4 Family
Earlier that day somewhere else...
*alarm goes off*
??? POV: *groans* "Time already?" *yawns* "What's that noise?"
Rustling from outside her bedroom was heard, she wasn't rattled that easily though. Suddenly the door flung open revealing another female dog, but she was younger like in her late 20's in human years.
Both dogs were German Shepherds. But only one of them was celebrating a birthday today. The other, younger dog, well let's just say that she went with the name of...Ciara.
Ciara: "Happy Birthday!!!" She said cheerfully to the older canine that was now staring at her with a small grin.
???: "Thanks Ciara."
Ciara: "Oh but wait that's not all!"
Ciara left for a solid 2 minutes but then returned with a bowl filled with food. Breakfast.
???: "That's really kind of you Ciara, but you didn't have to."
Ciara: *raises brow* "Have to? I wanted to! It's your special day! I have to do something special for you. You've done so much for me."
???: "That's nice dear. But really you don't go far in life if things just get served to you, like breakfast in bed."
She then got up from the somewhat bed and received the bowl of food. She sat at the end of her worn out mattress and just stared at the bowl. Her small soft smile turned into a frown.
Ciara: "Is there something wrong with the food?"
???: "Something is wrong alright."
Ciara: *cocks head*
???: "I'm not hungry." She then pushes the bowl aside.
Ciara: "Oh. But it's okay." She said slightly mad.
Ciara comes to the other female's side and takes the dish back to the somewhat kitchen. When she came back she found the the older German Shepherd at the window. It was raining.
Ciara: "You know what. If I had the power to control the weather I would make it all sunny and dry, all for you." She smiled trying to lighten the tension.
But all Ciara got in response was nothing but a nod. Ciara was hoping to at least drag the attention from the rain to the special day it needed to represent.
Then as Ciara was trying to think of a plan of action to make the other female stop focusing on the rain she noticed a single tear drop rolling down her cheek.
Ciara: "Hey come on, no tears should be-."
The aged female broke down. She put her paws over her eyes with more abundant of tears being shed. Her sobs filled the quiet bedroom.
Ciara: "Whoa." She quickly went to her side. Putting both of her paws on her shoulders, making visible eye contact possible. "Why are you crying?"
???: *sniffs* "I hate my birthday! The memories it brings makes me hate it! You think that my own two sons would visit today? You think that at least one of them would remember me! You think that they may forgive me! You would at least think that *sniffs* the o-one that has been gone for over 5 years would returned! Well your wrong! Everything is wrong and nothing will be right, that is until..." *sobs*
Ciara: "Shh, i-it's going to be okay." Her voice cracked. She hated seeing her like this. She hated that she knew.
They hugged each other strongly both of their eyes fill with tears they both knew the certain something that was wrong. They both knew the certain someone that caused it to be wrong.
Ciara: *sniffs* "I miss Chase too..."
Back at Adventure Bay, present time.
Skye's POV: "Something's wrong. And this rain isn't making it any better! At least it lighten a little. But still, is it possible to think that someone has change so much that you don't even know who they are anymore? Because if not then there is no other way to explain what I feel toward Chase right now."
Minutes after leaving the forest both Chase and Skye drove in Chase's cruiser, what would've been at least a 10 ish minute drive got to a 20 minute drive, with no signs of getting even closer to the tower. Recall the dead tree? Well that's what caused the drive delay.
The struck tree just so happened to block the path that was needed to get home in the few short minutes that Chase would have loved, but no. There was now two last options. One was too go through the forest and the second was to take the longest and most unrecognizable roads. The second option was the only one that appealed to Chase since he no longer was fond of the forest, nor the living organisms within it.
Skye's POV: "Should I say something? I thought for like the hundredth time! Maybe I should, I've seen that odd shaped rock before.
Skye: *gulp* "C-Chase?"
No response. So she tried again.
Skye: "Chase."
Still nothing.
Skye: "Chase!" She said a little ticked off.
She waited a few seconds then finally annoyed she called out one last time.
Skye: "CHASE!"
Unexpectedly the police cruiser all of a sudden swerved, making the noise of tires attempting to steady it's once calm pace it was in. Chase, however, finally got control of the steering wheel and relaxed as he finally was able to get the car moving peacefully once more.
Chase: *growls* "What's was that for?!"
Skye: "Well I had to get your attention somehow."
Chase: "Oh and you think shouting in my ear would help?!" He said now annoyed.
Skye: "Look who's shouting now?! And clearly it did work!"
Chase: *rolls eyes* "Whatever."
Skye: "And also I thought you should know that we past that weird figured rock for like the second time."
She started lower her tone hoping for the argument to decline. She didn't want to argue. She didn't want to fight verbally. She didn't want to be in this position with Chase. But yet she didn't want to be silenced.
Skye: "There's something on your mind. What is it?"
Chase: "Ha, you think I would tell you. You would be the last to know so stop trying to-."
Skye: "It's about today isn't it? Today really sucks. It's okay I know-."
Chase slammed on the brakes, making the police car come to a sudden and immediate halt. Also disrupting Skye's mid sentence, making her very fearful on why. Within seconds she found out. After he turned around.
Chase: *growls* "You don't know! You don't know anything about me! You don't know anything about today! You just don't know...you just can't know...*frowns*...she thinks I don't know what today is."
Skye: "W-what?" She asked frighten.
Chase: "Get out." He says not facing her anymore.
Skye: "What!?"
Chase: *grits teeth* "You heard me. Get out, now!"
Skye: "Wait. You can't be serious, Chase it's raining and-."
Chase: "I can make you."
With that being said Skye looked at the forest, that they still so happened not to escape yet, then she glanced back at Chase with pleading eyes.
Skye: *whimpers*
She finally gave in and hopped out. She then looked at Chase, but Chase didn't care he didn't even look back at her. He was just about to drive off but Skye had one last thing to say. She later regretted it.
Skye: "How could you do this to your own family!"
Chase froze. That phrase. That sentence. That word.
Family...
Chase: "Today was supposed to be all about family." He looked toward the sky, knowing that the day was already half over, even without the sun...he could just tell.
Then as if the weather was controlled by him, it starting pouring. Sad yet angry but frustrated mostly.
Chase: "My real family..."
He broke down. Chase looked down closing his eyes trying his best not to show a single tear drop fall but they did fall, off the rim of his eyes. He pressed harder but more just poured out. He gave up. He opened his eyes with tears still flowing and still forming.
Chase bit his lower lip, holding in gaps of air. But still was able to talk. He let go of himself completely.
Chase: *sniffs* "I-I'm sorry...I couldn't-no. I could've! I just...*sobs*...M-Mom I'm sorry! Are you up there? Can you hear me! I wish you were here...*sniff*...then I could say I'm sorry! *clears throat* A-And I could wish y-you a happy b-birthday...happy birthday momma."
He then started mumbling and as the rain fell even harder so did his words.
Chase: *wipes tears away* "But it's your own fault! You should've stopped! *frowns* Your not here and I'm the one who has to suffer. Is that what you wanted mom!? Do you really love me? *looks upward* Did you ever l-love me!? Well like I said before...before I left...I hate you! But I loved you...before your addiction, before dad died, before grandma told me the truth! You think I wouldn't figure out? That you lied! To your own two sons! *sniffs* Dad is gone because of you! Mom...why?" He looked down.
Skye: "C-Chase! What are you-who are you-what?!"
Chase closed eyes and sighed heavily. He forgot all about Skye in that instance. He glanced at her by the corner of his eye and felt more tears coming on.
Chase: "Y-You know now..." He said as he jumped out of his cruiser.
He looked straight at the forest. Skye knew what he wanted to do, well more like she knew what he was going to do.
Skye: "Chase you-."
Chase: "Stay here, Skye. And that's an order." He said stern then muttered. "It's for your own safety."
Then in just a few seconds he was running full speed toward the forest. He wanted to be alone. He had to be alone.
As he then started going deeper into the massive forest, he started thinking about his mother. Talking to himself when he was trying to talk with her. Today was her birthday. Or it would've been. She died as he recalled. And he hated her for that, the reason she died made him hate her, it should've never happened. He yelled hoping somehow it would reach the heavens. The forever rain still went on as so did Chase's thoughts.
Chase: "Your the only parent I had, but you abandon your own family, our family...for some f****** drugs. Why though?! Why did you leave us...how could you leave us?"
(Notice: Super emotionally!!!)
Chase just couldn't hold it in anymore. He start bawling his eyes out, in silence. He finally got that off his chest, it's been years. But then as he was grateful that he was all alone, someone put their paw on his back. Trying to be comforting, it failed, badly.
Chase turned around just to see the least person he expected to be here. Mainly because he order her, saying exactly that she shouldn't have came.
Chase: "Skye!?"
Skye: "Look, Chase before you say anything. Just know that I-."
Chase: *alarmed* "Skye no! You can't be here! It's not safe! You weren't supposed to-*groans in pain*. Oh no."
Chase tumbles to the ground, grabbing his stomach that was causing the heavy amounts of pain. But not nearly as much as his brain was. He closed his eyes and covered his ears. He then starts breathing heavily, luckily his back was turned away from Skye but that didn't stop her from seeing parts of Chase grunting in agony.
Skye: "C-Chase what's h-happening to you?!" She croaked, not knowing what else to say as well as what she could possibly do.
But at that moment, Chase stopped all his movement. He slowly got up and faced Skye. Before the transformation was complete, but afterwards it was fully successful.
Chase: *angered* "You should have listen to me, Skye! And you disobeyed me...ughhh. RUN!NOW! Before-."
Chase put his head down with both his paws on his head. He tried his best to stay in control but sadly 'it' controlled him now.
Chase stop all his squirming and his paws dropped, thus letting go of his head. He stood straight up, on all fours, he opened his eyes but the strange thing was that they didn't seem to belong to Chase. The color scheme was off. Skye could see the dreadful eyes she saw once, but that was enough for her to wish to never see again, but she did. Chase's eyes were blood red, and they were looking straight at her.
Skye: "C-Cha-ase?" She stuttered.
RC: *growls* "I'm not Chase!!!"
