A Navy Wing

Revali's POV

The wind whistled past him as he flew through the air, cutting through the breeze like a knife would butter. He had a deep frown upon his face, the scene of you at your parents' grave still marked clear upon his mind. He hadn't had the thought that you might've had family you cared for. He just assumed that the Yiga were one big family.

He shakes his head, unsuccessfully clearing his mind. He saw the group huddled up, talking in hushed voices. They stop talking when he approaches them, landing in his normal, fashionable manner.

"Revali? I thought you were at Rito Village," Urbosa was the first one to speak up, acknowledging the Rito's presence. He simply scowls at them, making his way to the horses. He walks to his horse–Kyaneos–whom he'd accidentally left behind earlier.

He takes out a small container of Salmon Meuniere from the saddlebags, popping the lid off. He was just about to sit down and start eating before he felt the shadow of a tall lady. "What is it, Urbosa? Can't you see I'm trying to eat?" He scoffs, addressing her name before he could see her, as no one but her could have a presence that looming.

"How come you're back? I thought you didn't want to be included in the drama." She murmurs, sitting down next to him and taking a piece of his food, placing it in her mouth. His beak drops slightly at her asinine actions, before he angrily shoves a chunk of fish into his mouth.

"There's nothing interesting to do in Rito Village." He says in between mouthfuls of Meuniere. Urbosa chuckles lightly at his response.

"Sure. I thought you were going to train, actually, unless you only came back to collect your horse." She responds, sneaking a glance at his dark grey horse, with a white blaze on his forehead. "Then again, we could use the help finding the Yiga."

"The Yiga? You're still going after her?" He asks in a flabbergasted tone, to mask his relief.

"Yes. The Princess is interested in this myth, so we can go make sure it's correct, and a way to do that, is follow that Yiga. She seems to know where she's going." Urbosa states, nodding in acknowledgement of Zelda and Link's presence–they had just walked up to the two.

"Good morrow, Revali," Zelda greets, offering him her warm smile. "What brings you here?" She had a red apple in her hand, which had a bite taken out of it. Her morning fruit, no doubt.

"It's boring in Rito Village. No one to heroically save with my awesome abilities," he scoffs at the others' eyerolls. He thought it was perfectly fine to boast about his very real abilities. He takes another bite of his Meuniere, his beak clicking quietly as he did so.

"Which would be great, as he can now aid with the search for that Yiga." Urbosa says to Zelda, who only gave a weak smile in return. Zelda then gave a small look to Link, who gave her a reassuring nod.

"I will not be able to accompany you on your travels, I'm afraid. My father has said I must return to the castle and focus on my training." When the topic was brought up, a heavy blanket of sadness coated them, bringing a saddened look to Zelda's face.

Urbosa walks up to Zelda, and crouches down slightly, placing a hand on her shoulder. "Little bird, look happier for us. Us Champions will be more than happy to follow them. We'll tell you everything, alright?" Her kind smile was enough to make babies stop crying.

"Alright," Zelda responds, giving a gentle nod of her head. "I'll write to both Goron City and Zora's Domain, asking for Mipha and Daruk to meet the both of you here." At Zelda's words, Link then turns around and walks to his horse–Epona–, grabbing some parchment paper and a quill. He hands them to Zelda before whistling quietly, noticing a particular small, ruby-red bird land in his cupped hands.

After finishing two notes, she hands both to the bird. Seemingly knowing where to go, the bird flies off, clutching a different note in each talon. "Now, Link and I must be off." Zelda waves goodbye to the two, before they both turn around and mount their horses. The colour of their horses was almost in perfect contrast–Zelda's horse was a beautiful white, and Link's was a gorgeous brown.

Urbosa and Revali wave at them–albeit Revali's wave was about 50% less enthusiastic. As soon as the two disappear from view, Urbosa turns to Revali with a serious look. He begrudgingly places the lid back on the container, feeling like he knew what was about to come.

"Now, I'm sure it'll be easy enough to find the Yiga. After all, you'd met with her only ten minutes ago, didn't you?" She places a hand on her hip, and he lets out an annoyed sigh.

"So what if I have? There's a thing called travelling horseback, which she's doing. Even if I knew where she and I talked, she'd be long gone by now." Revali snaps, feeling a sense of unease wash over him at the new topic brought up. A part of him knew he could keep nothing from Urbosa, but in a way, he thought he had a real chance. Evidently not.

"I assume you gave her her knapsack back?" She asks kindly, which causes Revali to falter. "Thought so," she murmurs with a curious look, "but why?"

"It was too bothersome to carry it," he tilts his head away, hiding his irked expression.

"Then just give it to one of us, if it was bothersome. Noone said you had to carry it," she raises an eyebrow, believing he wasn't letting on as much as he could have.

"Never mind," he grumbles, eliciting a jolly laugh to erupt from Urbosa's stomach.

She walks to her horse, Bronte, and runs her fingers through her mane. "Right, I think we should wait for the two, then we head off." Her horse nods, as if it understood her–which to an extent, it did.

"Well, I'm going off for a bit," Revali barks, leaving no room for debate. Urbosa gives a weary 'ok' before he flaps his wings aggressively, his Gale creating a blusterous updraft that carries him up and away from the makeshift camp. He'd just fly around the forest, gather his thoughts and calm himself down. He was more agitated than usual, that much was for certain. About what though, is the question everyone was asking–even himself.

He flew quickly between the trees, the sweet breeze blowing over him, keeping him cool.

He never paid much attention to the Yiga Clan, as they were Urbosa's area of expertise. Sure, there were a few disguised footsoldiers around Tabantha Region, but Revali wouldn't get himself caught up in them unless they attack the Rito–which they seldom did. It was only when he, Zelda, and Link were to meet with Urbosa at the stables, that they'd found your group. Yet when he brings his mind back to that event, it struck him as odd that they left you all alone–or more of that you couldn't teleport.

As he was awash in deep thoughts, he didn't see a branch up ahead, sticking out dangerously from one of the trees littering the forest. Just as his thoughts dissipate, he looks up to see the branch in his road. With little to no time to avoid it, his head smashes harshly into the branch, the piece of wood barely moving from the impact. He drops quickly to the ground, a strangled cry coming from his beak. He curses angrily at the branch, glaring savagely at it. He rubs his head gently, feeling a large lump forming on his forehead. Just great, he thinks.

When his wing touches his forehead however, he felt something warm and sticky. With a strong assumption, he brought his wing to his eyesight, where his feathers were tainted with a deep crimson colour. His eyes widen slightly, as he believed the collision wasn't too bad.

The only worrying thing at the moment, was that he was starting to feel dizzy. Way dizzier than he'd feel if he'd normally crashed to the ground. Another curse word slips past his beak as he stumbles to a nearby tree trunk. He collapses against the trunk, nursing his pounding head in his navy wing.

He tried thinking logically about why the injury was so bad, but as he introduced new thoughts into his mind, his head clouded up, his eyes rapidly fluttering open and shut. He summons a gentle wind to blow across his face, trying to help with his hot head. When he felt the breeze lulling him to sleep, he created a harsher gale to keep him awake.

The next thing he focused on was trying to stop the blood trickling down his head. With his mind foggy, Revali could only press his wing to the wound, albeit it hurt the bruising even more.

With a finally look around the forest, his eyes closed, his wings falling limp at his sides.

Your POV

You dismount Nyx to let her rest, letting her snack on a fallen apple on the forest floor. You were in the forest west of Crenel Hills. You had to collect a few apples for Nyx, after all.

You hum softly to yourself, holding the map of Hyrule in your hands. You looked at the location you were already in and decided to take the path that runs through the forest, stopping at Woodland stable. From there it'd be easy to follow the path at Trilby Plain to Akkala.

When you were sure you were satisfised with your new destination, you packed your belongings back into Nyx's saddlebags. Just as you're about to mount her, a sort of strained–yet angry–voice reaches your ears. The noise was faint, yet you could still easily hear it over the top of the blanket of quietness.

You turn your head to the right, your brow furrowing in worry. Since you had no idea what made the noise, you armed yourself with your sword. You had Nyx wait in her spot, keeping her entertained with a few swift carrots.

As your horse ate happily, you snuck towards the location in which you believed the noise was coming from. Another noise could be heard, and due to the closer proximity, you were able to make out what the noises really were. There was clearly someone swearing at someone–or something. Because of the fact you had only heard one voice, you thought they could be by themselves. Although the fact that there could be more than one person would still be a valid reason.

As you move around the scarce number of trees–ducking under the lower branches–you quickly saw a scene unravel in front of you. There was what appeared to be an injured and unconscious Rito laying against a tree. Their face was bowed down so you couldn't properly identify them–yet the colour of their feathers were strangely familiar. Although that wasn't what you were worried about when you saw fresh blood running down their forehead.

You quickly backtrack down the path, finding Nyx standing peacefully under a tree. Yet when she notices your worried composure, she trots up to you, facing her side towards you. You place your left foot into its stirrup, swinging your body up and over Nyx's back. Nyx runs at a canter, and the two of you reach the Rito in record time.

You grab one of the saddlebags with the medical supplies in it and rush over to them. Crouching down, you hold their head up to get a better look at their wound. It was then that you saw his face, as well as the garb he wore–the Champion's cloth. You sigh inwardly as you open the medical bag, searching for the bottle of disinfectant, a stream of bandaging, and a small packet of white dressings. You keep your ears tuned for any other noise, as you suspected that if Revali didn't return to the others soon, they'd come looking for him, and a bunch of Champions up your ass was not what you needed.

You apply some of the disinfectant to a clean cloth, before gently dabbing it onto his wound. You half expected him to arise upon the contact, yet he just laid there silently, his beak drawn in a straight line. Nervously, you reach a hand up to his neck, using two fingers to feel for his pulse. Luckily, you found it, feeling it beat steadily underneath your fingers. You deduced that he'd probably hit his head on something and had gotten concussion. Severe enough to cause unconsciousness.

After the wound was adequately cleaned, you got out one of the clean dressings, pressing it gently to his head. With your other hand, you took out a roll of the crepe bandaging, gently wrapping it around his head. You held the dressing in place until the bandaging held it, then you swiftly wrap the bandaging around his forehead with both hands.

He stirs slightly whilst you were bandaging his head, the action causing you to freeze up in place. After a few seconds of complete silence–except the restless crickets chirping in the background–you returned to bandaging his head as it seemed like he wasn't going to wake up.

After the bandaging was completed, you check his pulse once more to make sure there weren't any serious changes. After packing your medical supplies back into their bags, you stand up, glancing over at Revali. He looked so peaceful as he laid there. You hope that your bandaging would suffice enough until the Champions could get him to a proper healer.

You turn back to Nyx, attaching the saddlebags to her back once more. With a quiet sigh, you mount Nyx, and nudge her sides, urging her into a fast gallop across the path. As you rode back, you never noticed the small smile blossoming on his face.

Urbosa's POV

"Oh, where has he flown off to this time?" Her sharp voice cuts through the air like a blade through butter. There was an irritated note to her voice, yet you could still hear the plain quiver of worriedness in her tone. Daruk and Mipha had finally arrived, and the three were impatiently waiting for Revali to arrive.

"Shall we give him five minutes more?" Mipha questions, her elegant, soft voice a mirror opposite to Urbosa's. Daruk approaches them, his friendly smile strung into an uncertain line.

"You never know what could be causing his tardiness. He's usually always on time," Urbosa speaks, the calmer tone of her voice returning. She folds her arms across her chest, standing in her usual stance. "And we know he hates it when any of us are even a second late," she adds.

"Anyone know where he even went?" Daruk asks, looking towards a random forest opening. "Cuz, I know that these forests around are littered with monsters."

"Maybe we'll wait a few minutes, then we can split up and search if he doesn't show up," Mipha explains, attaching her Lightscale Trident to her back, in preparation for the upcoming search. Urbosa and Daruk both do the same, her scimitar and shield attached safely onto her waist, as Daruk haphazardly swings his Boulder Breaker onto his back. The Champions all nod to the Zora Princess, and they all sit themselves down on nearby fallen logs.
