A Tyrant's Purple
===

Your POV

There was a soft breeze blowing past as you walk down the dusty, gravelly path. The horse stables pointed you in the direction of a long and bendy canyon, which eventually led to the Digdogg Suspension Bridge. They said a few minutes after crossing the bridge, and you'll run into Outskirt Stable, who'd be able to sort you out with a horse.

It's been about forty-five minutes of walking, and forty-five minutes of longing for water. With no one to accompany you, the walk was long and tedious. The only thing that helped speed it up was the fact that you were worried that the Champions would still be on your tail. For that reason, and that reason alone, you walked quickly, your stride long and purposeful.

Sure, you attracted a few weird glance from random travellers passing through, but you paid no heed. Although you dearly wished that you had your knapsack, and most of all, the bloody map that Revali stole from you. You were quite annoyed about it, so next time you run into those four, you'd make sure it came back to you.

You finally reach Digdogg Suspension bridge, relieved that the Outskirt stables were so close. As you grow closer to the main island of the Suspension bridge, your heart drops in your chest. There was a massive blue Hinox sleeping lazily on the circular bit of land. You didn't think the chipped, iron sword would be able to defeat it, no matter how good you thought you were.

Your best bet no doubt will be to sneak around. There was enough of a space around the Hinox for you to walk on, so you weighed up your options. Shelter, horses and cooler temperatures were waiting on the other side, as long as you got past the Hinox. Or, you can go back to the sweltering desert, and head back to the base, where you might run into the Champions once more.

You take the first step near the beast, being careful not to step on any nearby twigs. You tip toe around it, keeping yourself as far as you could possibly get. The monster subconsciously scratches its belly, the sudden movement making you freeze in your skin. After you reassure yourself that it wasn't awake, you continue making your way past the Hinox, stopping occasionally to see its status.

After mere minutes, you were safely on the other side, sighing in relief. Your regular stride resumes as you walk across the last of the rickety wooden bridges. You made sure not to look down, as you're sure the height from the top of the bridge to the very bottom would trigger your fear of heights.

You finally walk upon the grass, seeing a few restless crickets jumping around with each other. You look up ahead and follow the path once more, taking note of the abundance of pretty flowers dotting the landscape. There were trees everywhere, a few of them housing Courser Bees. Birds chirped happily, the beautiful trill entering your mind, acting like a lullaby to soothe your wild thoughts.

The breeze blows gently through your hair, lifting it from your hot neck. You finally allow a small, content smile to appear on your face, no matter of the things that had happened. You knew you'll have to return to the Clan at some point, but for now, you were free. You'd get that sword, and you'd show it to your clan, proving your worth once and for all. You just hoped that you'd have the strength to own the sword.

"You'll just have to mount it, and ride it back here," the stable hand, Embry, explains to you. "Then we'll have it saddled for you. And what's even better, is that your first horse is for free!" It was lightening to know you wouldn't have to pay for a horse to be saddled. The only thing, was how in the world were you supposed to mount a horse from behind?

"I'll be back in a few, then," you respond, waving at him and walking off. You now had to find a herd, which didn't prove too tricky as you spotted one to the north of the stables. You squint your eyes a little, noticing a blue and white spotted horse, a grey horse with white speckles, and a pure black horse.

You didn't know why, but the black horse was calling out to you. So that's the one you try to catch. You wish you had your Yiga armour with you for this, as the armour muffled any and all noise. For now, you just had to use raw talent to catch this horse.

You crouch down low, letting the height of the blades of grass tower over you. You waited a good ten minutes before the black horse finally decided to break away from its herd. The other horses had their backs turned to the black horse, which was your opportunity.

You take delicate steps towards the back of the horse, being careful to stop when she stops, and move when she moves–the sound of her hoofs would drown out any sort of noise from your steps.

With your breath held tight, you walk up to the horse, and soon enough, you were in arm's reach. You didn't know how to mount a horse from behind, so you did what you thought would be best. You stand up silently and quickly jump up, placing your hands on her backside, and vaulting yourself onto her back. Your hands quickly wrap around her neck and you cling onto her back as she jumps around, trying to buck you off. Her efforts were strong, but you only just remained on. You breathe in and out, trying to delicately pat her mane, letting her know you weren't a threat. After about a minute, she finally calms down and stands normally, stomping occasionally at the ground. She swivelled her head around to try and bite at your feet, so you had to move them out of the way.

You correct your posture on the mount, taking a firm grip of a section of her mane. She snorted at the pull of her mane, and walked slowly. The pace would not be enough to get you to the stables quick enough, so with the softest part of your heel, you nudge her sides, urging her to go quicker. She gallops at a steady pace, only occasionally veering herself off the intended path. You pat her mane soothingly every time she does so, muttering sweet nothings into her ear, with the intention of calming her down.

When you stop at the stables, Embry looks at you with an impressed expression. "You've caught yourself a magnificent steed, I see! We'll get her tacked up right now." You then dismount your horse, giving her a gentle pat on her muzzle before you stand back and let the stable hands saddle her up. She gives you a curious look, feeling herself slowly warm up to you.

After the stable hands were done, Embry turns back to you with a logbook in his hand. "What'll you name her?" You think for a second, turning back to your horse.

"I'll call her Nyx." You say, and she snorts happily at the name. You thought of it because its hidden meaning meant Goddess of the Night, which was fitting for a pure black horse. Embry nods, writing the name down in his book. He then hands you the reins, refraining from questioning about the unusual name.

You place your left foot in the stirrup, gracefully pulling yourself up, swinging your right leg over her back and placing it in its desired stirrup. You settle yourself comfortably in the musty leather saddle, and you cradle the reins in both of your hands. After enough people moved out of the way, you urged Nyx into a trot. She advances to a gallop when you leave the vicinity of the horse stables.

From the fading memory of the map, you had planned the path you'd take. You surmised that it'll be best to travel east from Outskirt stable, following along the Great Plateau until you come across a y-intersection. You believed you then had to go left, then right at the next intersection. Then you had to follow on that path until you reached the next stables. You just hope you could buy a map there, and you hoped even more that you could find some way to obtain rupees quickly.

You stroke Nyx's mane lovingly as the two of you continue down the path. The ride was now a lot faster, as the time taken to reach the next stable was estimated to be an hour on foot, but on horseback, you believed it'd only take about twenty minutes, give or take five minutes.

"Well, looks like it's just you and me, girl," you murmur into your steeds' ear, satisfied when you hear a whinny in response. You were slowly growing on her, which was noticeable in the way she behaved herself more. She was growing on you simply because you believed there to be a connection the two of you, as if she could understand you. It soothed you, in a way, to have someone to talk to. Someone who wouldn't judge, no matter what. In a ways, a horse is way better than most people.

You arrive at Riverside Stable in record time, dismounting Nyx and letting the stable hand brush her mane and feed her. She whinny's gently as you walk away, so you turn back and offer her a calming smile. She nods at you, giving you the beautiful feeling of connection once more. You then turn back and head inside the stable, where there were a few people mingling about.

Beedle was sitting down at the back of the room, holding up a clear jar which contained a beetle of some sort. Typical. You noticed a few people mulling about near a poster, which you thought to be a map of Hyrule, so you walked up to them.

When they disperse, your hopes deflate as your gaze lands on a recipe poster for Crab Stir-Fry. It simply required one bright-eyed crab and some Goron spice. Which you had neither of, so a fancy Stir-Fry was off the menu. Sadly, when your eyes land on the food, your stomach lets out an involuntary rumble, which alerts your attention to the last time which you ate. Which was yesterday.

You groan slightly, before walking up to Beedle. "Hey, have you got any free copies of the map of Hyrule?" You ask as kindly as you possibly could at that moment. He nods quickly, reaching into his backpack for a rolled up piece of parchment, being contained by only a tan coloured piece of string. "Is it free?" You ask, tentatively taking it. He nods again, which filled your mind with relief. You offer a goodbye wave to him, which he happily reciprocates. You wonder why he didn't talk whatsoever, though.

Even if your stomach was growling, you forced yourself to walk back outside and to Nyx, who had a perfectly brushed mane. You then notice she was delicately holding an apple in her mouth, not eating it.

"Girl, you need to eat," you mumble, until she nudges your hand with her muzzle. You bring your hand up, and she drops the apple into your palm, whinnying gently. "Don't tell me... you saved this apple for me?" You ask in bewilderment, wiping the horse saliva from the ruby red piece of fruit. She nods happily, which caused a graceful smile to blossom on your face.

When the apple was clean enough, you take a much needed bite out of it–after all, beggars weren't choosers. After hurriedly eating about half of it, you mount her again, and open the map you had received from Beedle.

"Okay, so..." you trace your finger along the path you were currently on. "I'm going to need to travel north till I reach Wetland Stable..." you mumble to yourself, absentmindedly urging Nyx to move. She complies, trotting obediently down the path you intended to go on. You noticed that you'll have to turn right after crossing the bridge near Crenel Hills, then you just have to make sure you don't go astray off the path.

You shrug, taking another bite of your apple, pocketing the map carefully. In one hand, holds Nyx's reins, and in the other, you hold the piece of fruit, greedily eating it. The apple wasn't much, but at least now you could say you stomached something.

"Well, not far now, till we reach our third stable.." you whisper, mostly to yourself, yet your words were open for Nyx to listen to. You stretch in the saddle, feeling your bones click in their place. You knew, at some point, you'll have to camp out and train. Who knew what would be awaiting you at Skull Lake.

You then remember Zelda's words, Although if she's intent on travelling out and finding it, our best bet would be to ask her herself.' You'd have to be careful on your way into Akkala, as you're almost certain they'll be on the hunt for you.

You contently ride with Nyx until a familiar voice cuts through your daydreams.

"Hey! Wait up!"
