I REMEMBER WHEN I FIRST MET YOU

I remember vividly how much I hated the underground. Though the safest haven from the field of prosperity that is only overbalanced by titans out the front door and noblemen gnawing at whatever chance they get to make more money, even though they're more than comfortable than the average starving person.
To say it surprised my section squad leader Commander Erwin that I 'allegedly' fought with him not to go back for the mission, it was overlooking the fact that I will punch a tall blonde man from the upper ground with a hell of an eyebrow problem. To say I was silent was the fact I was reserved, I've learnt well in my twenty-three years that word of the mouth and the freedom of speech can cost you something worst than a quick death swing.
But to say I was docile was mostly a word of man's assumption or hormones by my appearance and the misunderstanding that I was reserved was just another person on my list not to save when they're getting chomped on by a titan.
"My queen!" a familiar exclaiming voice yelled from the hallway as I only sigh as Hange Zoe, the brunette friend of mine tackles me into what she would call a hug.
Keeping my balance from her brutal velocity and height that differs from mine greatly my face is squashed as Hange squishes it with hers.
"Hange," I exasperate tiredly.
"Why is commander eyebrows taking you to that horrid place?! How dare they refund you! You know what! I'll move there! Yeah! I'll start an army of titanic fungi over there and take over-,"
"Hange, as much as that sounds fun," a small smile crept up the corner of my lips, "Erwin's not going to toss me in that dump or else I would dump him there first. As his lieutenant, he's making me go with him."
"Well, if Commander Erwin tries anything and leave you there," Hange's eyes smiled wickedly, "I've been experimenting and researching about the male human body, so I might know how to make his gentile disappear-,"
"Hange!"
"Is everything alright Lieutenant?" Commander Erwin inquired as the two of us froze as they rigidly turned around as I cleared my throat.
"Everything is fine Sir," I confirmed as I looked from the corner of her eyes that Hange was shivering in fear as she gulped.
"Is everything alright?" He looked to Hange as she nodded rapidly.
"Oh yes! Yes, yes! Everything certainly-, indeedly perfect!" She smiled.
"Indeedly isn't a word-," I was about to finish only to be stepped on the foot by Hange.
"I see," Erwin raised a brow, I knew he wasn't a fool to not let Hange's expression pass him.
"Well if that's all, Adaline we'll be going now. The others are waiting," the commander concluded as he turned around only to halt, "Oh Hange, what did you say about making something disappear?"
I only choked as Hange was shaking nervously.
"Well, won't you at the dic-, I mean tick-! Time, ah yes time! The time! Well keep my child safe for me, please or-,"
"I'm older than you-,"
"Or what Hange?" Erwin interrogated as Hange gulped.
"Again the dic-, dickety, hickety clock-, I mean time! Bye!" Hange had dashed down the hall as her life depended on it.
"May the heavens bless her," I sighed as she looked at Erwin, "Shall we go?"
"Indeed," Erwin said as we walked silently down the hall.
"Adaline, I don't mean to trigger any bad memories when we go to the-,"
"It's fine Erwin, we are what we are because of our pasts. Bad pasts are just like rubble waiting to be put to good use," I said nonchalantly.
"That's good to hear Adaline," he smiled.
"Why are you going to the underground anyways for some crew of three? Wouldn't the military police suffice?" I quipped.
"They have ODM gear, Adaline, they're skilled from recent reports."
"And what? They're nothing more than people trying to make it by. Let the underground do their business unless you're going to shake up the whole system for good," I chided, "We have bigger problems to deal with, literally, titans. On our doorstep heavens knows when."
"Well, they've enough to capture our attention-,"
"Military police can't do enough for shit so they send us out," I scoffed.
"That's enough Adaline-,"
"But why should they be penalised for this. I've read the files, Erwin, I think you overlooking the fact that they do some good."
"That's enough Adaline," Erwin admonished as they stopped at the door as what was dubbed my innocent eyes didn't match the sinuously wicked glare I threw at my superior.
"It's called looking beyond one's walls Erwin," I remarked as I opened the door.
---
The familiar taste of the wet puddles on the dry to the bone surface doesn't seem to be welcoming; well it was never welcoming, only bearable to the survivors. Walking down the stairs is like descending from heaven after one worked hard to get to such a gift.
"It's like everyone is on drugs," Mike ridicules the people on the sidewalk as I glare at him as feels it piercing through his back.
"Everyone we are walking by Mike, are the people who thought they had the chance to see the light but were scammed. They wasted all their money on false hope," I say as the team silences and thoughts diminish of the negative things about the underground inhabitants.
"Enough judgement everyone, you know the plan has gone over in the carriage. Lieutenant," Erwin looks to me as if I have anything else to add.
"Watch where you shoot your lines ODM gear, not every structure can take the impact of gushing hook like a tree does. Short lines, not long, pathways aren't long and given, if you change too quickly you'll snap your back or land onto something. No killing till further discussion," I look to Erwin on the last bit as he nods in agreement.
"Capture them alive, we'll take further actions when all are captured. Understood?"
"Yessir-," Before we could even finish a shout came from just around the corner as three figures blast their way down the street above us.
"Go!" Erwin shouts as I put on my hood and make blast the lines of my ODM gear. Agile my moves were as the convoy of us scouts race down the alleys and narrow pathways that the buildings cave.
In the vision, I see of the somewhat blurred figures dashing dexterously in front of us I look to Erwin who only signals for me to go solo entrusting in my skills as I de route myself from the path of pursuant that my other comrades chasing the trio of undergrounders.
Flying through the narrow pathways and a few windows I finally let myself stand on a tall building with a tanned narrow cone roof as I watch the trio separate like loose cattle. Finally, I jump as I free-fall and let out a little gas from my gear to avoid snapping my back to give me enough acceleration to swing forward at a rapid pace.
Choosing the small raven-haired male who seems to have lost his other two comrades I dive in only for him to dexterously avoid me as he changed direction.
Dammit, that always worked I mutter to myself as I continue to be on his table. In the few moments, I pursue the chase with him, flying at a supernatural rate I admit it was wearing me out more than I believe I should be capable of.
Panting I look to see Mike as for a brief few seconds I nod as I play out the chaser leading this person into a trap (Mike). After sharp turns I chase him into a bridge as he looks back at me he is distracted granting the opportunity for Mike to launch at him making the two land roughly on the ground.
But as I descended down I spotted the ravennette quickly pulling out a knife as Mika barely dodged his attack making him lose his sword from a small dagger. Before any other advancement, I pull out a blade and perfectly time myself to intervene between the fight as I slash his dagger out of his hand I kick him in the hip and pin him onto the grown.
But, it was something about him as I stared at him without an aggravated persona, as my eyes softened.
Stormy eyes met a calm oceanic one.
"Lieutenant," I hear Erwin order as I turn my head around to see him pull down his hood as I get off the male letting Mike hold him as I stand beside my commander as we turn our heads to see the rest of the team bring in the other two, the female red-haired one in particular retaliating.
The ravenette seemed to calm down, loosening his once tense shoulders knowing who held the upper hand. I scan my eyes back to the other two who are now put beside him, the older looking one with blonde hair seemed to mirror the other male's expression as I assume he has more experience than the female who I believe to be younger.
Erwin approaches them inspecting the gear piece that Mike had given him and asks: "Where did you get this?"
The trio remains silent as the rest of my crew with their hoods off, showing a dreadful glare at them for not answering. I keep mine on as I watch Erwin continue.
"You guys are skilled with 3D Maneuver Gear," he states, "Who taught you all that?"
With nothing said Erwin only approaches the ravenette I pinned down earlier and asks "You're their leader, right? Were you trained in the military police?"
The male with stormy eyes only looks up and remains silent as Mike aggressively shoves his face into the mud aggravating the two companions.
"Zacharias that's enough-" I admonish stepping forward as Erwin only stops me with his arm as I look to him wanting him to do something.
"I'll ask you one more time," Erwin bellows, "Where did you learn how to use 3d Maneuver Gear?"
"Not from anyone!" We learnt it by ourselves!" The other male with ash blonde hair ventured.
"Self-taught, you say? I don't buy it."
"It's just so we're able to rise even a bit in this dirty garbage place! People who're used to sunlight like you guys won't understand!" He scowled as his words hit me hard.
"That's enough! Let Bro go!" the girl barks, "Don't be cocky just because you're soldiers!"
"Enough!" I snap as I take off my hood leaving my quotidian cold persona on as the two silence in shock.
I only crouch in front of what the female called 'bro' who is still pushed into the murky puddle by Mike. Glaring at Mike to let go of his hand pushing down the male, he let's go as I look face to face with him.
"My name is Ada-,"
"Sir!" Another soldier in the back shouts as Erwin glares at him and lets me carry on.
"My name is Adaline Young, what's your's?" I inquire as he only glares at me and thinks.
"Levi," he answers.
"Levi, why don't we make a deal?" I began.
"A deal?"
"We'll let go of you're crimes unpunished. In return lend us your strength."
"What do you mean?" He seethed.
"Join the Survey Corps," Erwin interrupts overshadowing us both taking the three by shock with the request.
"And if I refuse?" he continues.
"The military police will have you. And if they do I assure you they look down and have prejudice worst then the ones the soldiers have treated you here. Without hesitation, they would hang all three of you after they've beaten you up." I say then tilt my head, "And if you escape you'll only be stuck here for heaven's sake how long. No matter how many underground offers you take, no matter how you claim you want to rise up, you will have the that above you," I point to the cavern above them.
"The choice is yours," I say as I let out a hand as he hesitates. The male only looks at me, his eyes still stoic and cold yet not glaring at me as he takes my hand and gets up.
"Fine," he responds simply yet in a distasteful manner like he had nothing to lose.
"I'll join the survey corps."

Hey! Thanks for reading the first chapter and baring with me!
Also! I am sorry for the future if my chapter are either a bit shorter or longer than usual. Inspiration comes differently to me.
Whoever the first banner is will be from whose point of view it will be in. Each chapter will switch and remain the point of view. Just like the first banner was with Adaline's, hence it will be from Adaline's point of view.
Anyways, vote, comment, add and share!
