Chapter 5
I blinked a few times, waking up groggily and checking my surroundings. Needless to say, I have a massive bloody hangover.
"Aw you're finally up, how'd you sleep, princess?" I looked up, being met by red hair and eyes: it was Seth.
"Is that even a real question? I believe I'm what the natives call 'hungover'"
"You must have a killer headache, yet you're still being patronising and sarcastic; we have a true Brit in the midst it seems."
"Shut up you bloody nob-jockey, or I'll scream at you until you do."
"Not a great idea when you have a hangover." I glared up at the boy, only to wince when I was met with a bright light.
"Got any paracetamol?"
"First you call me nob-jockey and now you try to use my painkillers? You truly are an unreadable character." I just groaned, trying to get up. After a few minutes of attempting to get up, while an annoying red-head watched me in amusement, I finally managed to somewhat stand: and by that, I mean that I was putting all of my weight on my hands which were placed on the couch for support.
"What even bloody happened last night?" I reached my hands up to touch my aching head, bad idea. I immediately fell down, my head landing in his lap with my arms sprawled out in front of me.
"Damn, you're really eager, aren't you?" I just blinked, trying to work out what he meant as I slowly lifted my head.
"...what do y- OH MY FUCKING GOD YOU BLOODY TWAT, FIGHT M- agggghhhhhhh, my head." I once again dropped my head into his lap, groaning in pain after I worsened my headache by screaming. I felt him stroke my hair, starting to play with it.
"Awwwwwww, you're so cute~"
"I'm not cute, I'm a vicious anim- oh fuck me, my bloody head."
"Can you two shut up?! I'm trying to sleep." I heard a new voice demand, looking to the side I notice it belonged to a groggy Aaron, who was holding his head next to a barely awake Ren and a fast asleep Royce.
"...How come you're completely fine and we look as bad as the choices made in 2016?!" I noticed the comparison, everyone apart from Seth clearly tremendously hungover whereas he looks like a bloody angel.
"Simple, I didn't drink too much. I must admit, though, I never thought you'd be an overly affectionate drunk; you made me promise to never leave you and started crying when I tried to make you go home." I, once again, let out a loud groan as I processed what he said. "Oh, it only gets better. You even started dragging me towards the bedroom claiming I was some guy called Karma." This time, my head immediately shot up and I easily ignored the pain in my head, repeating his words in my mind to make sure I had heard him correctly.
"Don't tell me..."
"Don't worry, we didn't do anything... But you did threaten to kill me if I didn't 'spoon you and kiss your neck before you fall asleep like I always used to'." At this point I was just banging my head lightly against his leg, regretting ever existing. "Don't worry, I didn't, you passed out before I got the chance."
"You weren't supposed to get the chance in the first place, I was drunk."
"So... Who's Karma?" the room then went dead silent, but the doorbell ripped through the silence shortly after.
"IT'S THE BLOODY DOORBELL! I'LL GET IT!!" I scrambled up awkwardly, getting to the small corridor and imitating good ol' Douglas Reynholm (A/N: it's the YouTube link.) when I reached the door, I opened it to see Gray standing there awkwardly.
"(y/n)! Hey! I got a text from you saying that you were reunited with Karma and you wanted me to meet him...? You also gave me a lecture on quantum mechanics over the phone... Are you okay?"
"No... I was drunk..." I was about to ask if he can drive me home, but I was cut off by the sound of me screaming coming from his phone, something along the lines of
'WHY DO WE EXIST?!?! KILL ME RIGHT NOW, BRRRRRUUUUUUUTTTTHHHEEEERRR WHYY?!?!'
"...Is that your ringtone? You recorded me in a drunk fit? That's just sad, man."
"I didn't want to but you made me..."
"AND I DIDNT WANT TO LEAVE THE EU, BUT-...what am I talking about?" (A/N: I feel like this chapter is just about my political rants tbh...) my hand once again flew up to my head as a headache erupted. "You know what, let's just go home..." I turned around to go tell the others I'm leaving but just ran into a chest which knocked me back.
"Leaving so soon? Don't forget your phone." I looked up at the smiling Seth who was holding my phone, the only thing I brought with me.
"...Yeah, thanks... Bye, Seth..." I waved him off tiredly, walking towards the car and getting in when Gray unlocked the doors. I sat in the car for a good few minutes until I decided to get out and check on Gray who seemed to be glaring at Seth while he spoke.
Walking up to them, I only heard Seth say, "Mine, so back o-" before he turned to me with a smile, "Hey, (y/n)! Just catching up!"
"...Okay." I didn't exactly want to intrude so I turned around to go back and sit in the car, Gray coming in soon and immediately driving off. "Ummmm, Gray? Are you okay? Your knuckles are white, you're gripping the steering wheel pretty tightly..."
"Yeah, I'm fine... Sorry." he loosened his grip and smiled at me for a split second before turning back towards the road. "Hey, (y/n)... I hope you find Karma again, just don't try to replace him with someone else. It might cloud your judgement." and after that, the rest of the journey was completely silent.
