Chapter 3
(This happens the exact same time as the last chaptie with Clove)
Leo POV
Romans.... Eagles.... Ugh.... I was done. Just plain done. I had lost my mom, my dragon, the trust with my friends, and now I was about to loose everything else. The whole quest could crumble to pieces....
And it was my fault.
I yanked the Argo II's wheel to the right. The ship groaned and tilted that way. Hazel, who was on deck with me, slammed into the railing.
"Leo! Watch out!" (Hmm... Where have I heard that?! *sarcasm*) She called, pointing to my left. I peered into the foggy darkness, seeing nothing. Then a sound pierced my ears.
"SHHHARRRRRRRAAAAWWWWWRRRRRRRRLLLLLLLLL!!!!!!!!!"
The noise was so loud, it vibrated all of my controls. A bright red, hot flame shot out of nowhere. I didn't even flinch. The column of flame blew over me. It was a fire hose of heat. I reached in my tool belt and pulled out a huge hammer.
The creature that had blown fire landed on the deck, whacking Hazel with its serpent tail. Hazel pulled out her cavalry sword, but the monster used its serpent tail to pluck her off the deck.
"Leo!!!" She screamed, trying her hardest to break free. The monster lifted her up by her foot and hissed in delight at its catch.
"Hold on Hazel!" I called. I pressed a button on the control panel and alarm bells blared. I ran at the monster, swinging my hammer, and ducked one of its massive wings. I dropped the hammer on one of the creatures feet and it let out another screech. I grit my teeth and swung again, this time hitting it in the knee. It swiped at me with its massive claws and sent me flying. I smacked my head in the mast and my eyesight got blurry. I rubbed my head and blinked repeativly. A blurry object came from the sky and collapsed on the beast, turning it to dust. I tried to focus, and got the shape of an.... Elephant?
"Hazel! Leo!" I turned and saw Piper run out on deck, with Jason following,
"Are you guys okay?" Jason asked, running over to the dust pile and kicking it over the side. Hazel, who looked just as beat up as l was, was leaning heavily on Frank, who I had just realized had been the flying object and elephant. I sat down on the ground and breathed hard.
"I think so man... Just don't get to close." Piper turned to me,
"Why?" She asked. I hugged my stomach and groaned,
"I think I'm going to puke...." After I finished, Piper slowly stepped away from me. Hazel clutched her stomach as well, groaning.
"I agree with Leo... I don't feel so well...." Frank looked at her, concern filling his face.
"Are you sure your okay Hazel? We can get some ambrosia or something." Hazel shook her head,
"No... I'm okay...."
Great... I thought, Ask her if she's okay... I just slammed a giant monster in the foot and I'm not okay.... Sounds reasonable....
Then, Nico Di Angelo trudged up the deck stairs. He was a lot paler then he was earlier, and possibly even thinner. His clothes looked 4 sizes too big and they hung off his boney form. He was leaning against the railing, taking some deep breaths of air.
"Wha... What happened...?" He asked, his voice raspy. Hazel took back some if her weight from Frank's shoulders and stood up taller.
"Nothing Nico," she said, her accent catching the 'co' in his name, "Just a monster. Go back to bed, before you die in the process if simple walking." Nico nodded, but stayed there.
"Looks like it got you and Leo..." He said, "it feeds off of weakness in the body. Just so you know." I understood, but I didn't have to like it. Hazel and I didn't have very strong stomachs. She got sea sick while I got car sick.
"Will it go away?" Frank asked, helping Hazel again by holding her weight. Nico nodded.
"Yes. It will go away, but I can't promise they won't be sick first."
Got that right... I thought.
Piper walked over and helped Nico down the stairs. I leaned my head back against the mast and took deep breaths, trying to calm my nerves. Frank assisted Hazel to the deck's stairs and headed toward the medical room. All of this, while I just sat on the ground. No one else was on the deck except Jason, who had a hand on his sword, staring into the fog.
"Am I forgotten?!" I yelled to myself. Jason turned and looked at me.
"No. How could we forget you?" I rolled my eyes.
"Oh, I don't know. Maybe by having everyone ask if Hazels alright and if Nicos alright. Me?!" I huffed, then hugged my stomach because it hurt "I'm just sitting here." Jason smirked,
"Leo, we, or uh, I, thought you were just fine. You didn't need help getting up or moving around." I clenched my teeth.
"Sure... All I have is a really bad stomach ache and a headache. Nothing that needs attention!" I banged the back of my head against the mast, then groaned and muttered, "Oww..."
"Come on then Leo, lets get you some ambrosia." Jason said. He walked over to me and helped me up. My nausea became worse. I groaned and covered my mouth. Jason smirked, again. (What is with him and smirking?!)
"We better hurry before you get puke all over the Coach's tennis shoes."
"Ha ha.." I mumbled and we descended down the steps. Then, as if it were hiding, a memory surfaced in my brain.
"Clover!" I exclaimed. Jason looked at me, puzzled,
"What?" He asked. I slapped my forehead, which hurt but I did it anyway because I felt so stupid.
"That's her name!" Jason patted my shoulder,
"Uh... Sure man. Sure..." I turned to him,
"I'm not crazy! I've seen her in dreams!" I said, then clutched my stomach again. "Ugh... I don't like this..." Jason smirked (AGAIN!!!)
"I can understand man. Don't worry. Come on. Let's get you some ambrosia before you loose your mind as well as your stomach." I sighed, but I knew I wasn't going crazy.
Clover... That was her name....
