Chapter 2
Leo POV
I sat bolt upright. My body trembled and my head hurt. I looked around and saw the engine room of the Argo II, the engine humming and clicking. I groaned and rubbed my head. I had had another one of those dreams… the one about the girl…. I still had no idea who she was, but I felt… connected to her….
The door to the engine room opened and Annabeth stuck her head in.
“Leo, did you fall asleep in here again?” she asked, putting a hand on her hip. I shrugged.
“I guess…” Annabeth walked over to me and helped me up.
“Come on Leo… It’s dinner time.” I rubbed my head,
“Do I have to come?” I asked in a whiny voice. Annabeth smirked,
“Yes. Leo, you haven’t eaten since yesterday morning. You need to get something to eat before you die from starvation.” I nodded and Annabeth walked out. I looked at the Argo II’s humming engine. I stepped closer to it and touched one of the computers. Something was telling me that the girl had something to do with the ship... I just couldn't put his finger on it.
I sighed and ran my nimble fingers through my curly hair. These dreams would stop soon... At least, I hoped.
I stepped away from the engine and walked out of the room. I trudged down the hall, thinking intently about what the girl looked like. I could only distinguish a few details. Blue grey eyes... Blonde hair.... And a necklace....
I had no idea where the necklace had come from, but the image was burned into my brain. I felt...
I sighed and smacked my cheek. It didn't matter what I thought. I was just the repair boy. The person who fixed and destroyed.
I opened the door to the lounge and saw the rest if the seven, including Couch Hedge, eating at the dining table. I took my seat and leaned on my head on my arm. I wasn't hungry.
"Leo, you okay?" Piper asked, taking a sip from her cup. I shrugged, fiddling with one of the pieces if silverware. Jason, who sat across from me, eyed me suspiciously.
"Come on Leo, you need to eat something." He said, taking a bite from a sandwich. I pushed my plate away,
"I'm not hungry man. Now, if we're going to talk quest, I'm in. But if we are going to talk about if I'm okay or not, I'm going back to the engine room." No one spoke. I sighed and stood.
"As I said. I'll be in the engine room." I walked toward the door and left....
I didn't care anymore....
Clover POV
As my 8th period history class ended by the sound of the bell, I pulls out my iPhone. Apparently I had some of my friends email me. I decided to check those later. I pulled up my google docs and clicked on a book I was writing. I began to type. Words filled my head as I tapped the keyboard on the screen. Pictures kept coming to me, but I only understood some of them. I quickly wrote down the quotes that filled my head. 'Repair Boy' 'Leaving' 'Love you' were only among the few that flew around inside my brain.
I picked up my bag, my eyes still on the phone, and walked out the door. Out of the corners if my eyes, I maneuvered around the people who were chatting, gossiping, or just messing around. I walked out the doors and began my journey home.
I walked home from school and my mom dropped me off in the morning, because she worked when I got out of school and my house was close enough to the school that it didn't matter.
My eyes were still fixed on my phone when someone grabbed my shoulders from behind. I yelped and almost dropped the device. I turned to see Westly, one of my friends, start to bust up.
"I so got you!" He said between his laughs. I rolled my eyes and playfully punched him.
"Shut up..." I put my phone into my hoodie pocket and asked, "sooo... What's up with you?" Westly's laughter was going down, but you could still see the traces if it in his eyes.
"Nothin. Just laughing over something that is almost impossible." He said with a huge smile. I smirked,
"Good point..." Westly began to fiddle with his straps to his backpack, his smile completely gone. I looked at him,
"Alright," I said, "what's up?" He shrugged, but I could tell something was bothering him.
"Nothing much... Probably just a stupid feeling..." I looked at him skeptically.
"Westly, I know it is more than that." He shrugged again, which made me want to squeeze the information out of him.
"Trust me Clover... It's... Nothing..." He said, twisting the backpack strap into a knot. I shrugged.
"Okay..." I said, "but you know I will find out anyway." Westly smirked,
"Yeah... You do that a lot..." I smirked, because, yes. It was true.
I fiddled with my necklace, doing it without noticing. My memories wouldn't go away... No matter how hard I tried. I had tried the snap trick when I had woken up, but it hadn't worked. I think it was because I wasn't a demigod anymore. I also wasn’t able to solve things very easily, unlike when I was a demigod. Things seemed harder to deal with too... Just the average problems of the day seemed harder to solve.
Westly looked at me curiously.
"Your doing it again." He said. I snapped out of my trance and looked at him.
"Doing what?" I asked. He shrugged
"Messing with that necklace of yours. Are you ever going to take it off?" Westly asked, kicking one if the pebbles on the sidewalk. I shook my head.
"No. I will never take it off. Ever." Westly looked up and studied me.
"Never? Like, never until you die?" I nodded,
"Yes. I will never take it off. Not even when I die. If it is a DIERE emergency, than maybe." Westly smirked and kicked another rock.
"Sounds unlikely." He said. I shrugged, but I knew the truth. It was a possibility. No doubt there. Especially with the risks I had taken....
"Westly," I said, "what do you know about.... Greek gods?" Westly looked up from the ground and thought about it.
"Well, they were gods... And their Greek.... Wasn't Zeus one of them?" I nodded.
"Yes. Zeus was lord of the sky." Westly looked at me,
"Why do you want to know?" He asked. I shrugged,
"I was just asking...." After that, Westly and I walked home in silence. My mind was still racing and pounding. So much information was crammed in there.... It was starting to become hard to tell which one was which. I rubbed my forehead, because my mind started to hurt.
"Clover? You okay?" Westly asked. I nodded,
"Yeah. I'm okay." In my mind I was thinking,
Great.... Leo's up and thinking of me again...
I had realized that we had some sort of mental link that connected us. When he tried to remember, it would tug on my brain for the information. I would never give it over, but it gave me some horrible migraines and headaches.
"This happened yesterday," Westly said "almost at the exact same time. Clover, are you sure you’re okay?" I took a deep breath and nodded once more, putting my hands down.
"Yes.... Don't worry about it Westly. I'm fine." Westly still gave me the look of worry, but I tried to ignore it. I saw my house up ahead and I turned to Westly,
"Well, I'll see you tomorrow!" I said and raced down the street to my house. Behind me, Westly called,
"Clover! Watch out!" I faced frontward and slammed into something hard. I fell to the ground, my backpack opening and spilling out all of its contents. I groaned and started to pick up the supplies.
“I am so sorry….” I said, stuffing my math book into my backpack. I saw someone bend down and start to pick up my stuff.
“Oh, its no biggy. Don’t worry about it.” The two of us finished picking up my stuff and placing it in my backpack. I looked up and caught my breath. It was a young man who had helped me out. His hair was a caramel color, like you might find that exact same color in a candy store. His eyes caught the light of the sun and seemed to match the color of the sky. His face was kind, and made me feel right at home. I looked at the ground, my face feeling red.
“Sorry again….” I said, standing up. I slung my bag over my shoulder and said with my head still toward the ground. “Please excuse me. I’ve got to go…” I started to walk off, but the young man put a hand on my shoulder. It was firm and solid, but calming at the same time.
“Hey, you can’t just go running off like that. What’s your name?” I looked up, and noticed he was looking me in the eye. I bit my lip, just to keep from making my mouth drop open, then replied,
“Clover… What about you..?” The boy smiled, making me feel warm and tingly. (SHUT UP! I know that sounds weird! XP)
“My name is Bryce. Do you live far from here?” I shook my head and motioned toward my house.
“I live there.” I said, starting to walk down the sidewalk. Bryce followed. “What about you? Where do you live?” I asked, twisting my the bottom of my shirt. Bryce shrugged and jabbed his thumb across the street.
“I live a few blocks over. How long have you lived here?” he asked. My mind sent me two different messages. One was ‘My whole life!’. The other was ‘About a month.’. I didn’t know which one to say, so I just shrugged.
“For a while. You?” Bryce kicked a rock down the sidewalk.
“Couple of months. Not many people know I exist.” I smirked and said,
“Well, I know you are alive and walking. That has to count for something.” Bryce smiled,
“And I can totally live with that!” I laughed and turned onto my lawn, my mind sending me a message something like ‘Flirting… Something I miss from Leo...’. I turned and waved.
“Bye! Thanks for talking!” Bryce waved back,
“Right back atcha!” I walked up the porch steps and opened the front door. When the door was fully closed, I leaned against it, dropping my backpack on the floor. One thought was going through my head...
