Maddie continued flying until she reached a small town. It had a pond, and Maddie hoped she had money for some food, she was beginning to get hungry. Maddie landed at the edge of the pond and folded her wings tightly to keep people from noticing her. Maddie took a long, slow drink from the pond. The dark water felt cool and refreshing. When she saw no one, Maddie opened and shook her wings out. Big mistake. A man who had seen her simply ran and screeched, "DEMON WOLF! DEMON WOLF!! IT'S GOING TO KILL US ALL!!!!!!!"   He ran around frantically and and blindly, and ran into a  lamp post. The man  just moved his hands around in the dirt. "I'm okay!" He shouted. A door opened  from somewhere and Maddie  decided  it was time to skiddadle. She flew into the  woods and rested for a few moments before continuing to the next town.  Maddie shifted at the edge of the town where she couldn't be seen and check ed her bag.  She had $10. Maddie walked around town until she found what she was looking for: dollar tree. It was cheap, so she could get  more items for less money than  Walmart or Target.             Maddie bought a six pack of coconut waters to keep her better hydrated,   a  a large bag of beef jerky for protein, an apple, some nuts, and dried fruits.  $5 spent, $5 left.  Maddie ate the   Apple and one peice of beef jerky before  going to a Starbucks to sit and write before she  moved on. She was almost to her destination.

Dear Journal,

 My whole pack is safe,  and so are most of my friends, even tho I stil hav no idea who they are. The friend and  pack member who are in North Carolina....... I have a feeling they are in troubl, and thats y I need to  get there as soon as I can. My riding is geting better tho! I hav to go now, and save. My friends.

Maddie set off again as soon as she reached the city's limits.  She flew for hours until she finall y reached her destination. She howled, hoping the would remember here howl, at least. Another howl replied, <Over here! One of us is injured!! We need help! > Maddie followed the howl to a cave. She howled again, <Where are you?> a reply  came back louder than ever, <in this cave! Please help us!! >  Maddie walked into the cave and with her night vision, found where the cry for help was. It came from another she wolf like her, except without wings. The wolf was black as the night. Next to her was an elderly man with fading red hair and a doctor's  lab coat.  Maddie inspected the two. She recognizedthem, but couldn't remember who they were other than part of  her pack. Upon a closer look, the man's leg was bent in an unnatural way. "who are you?" The man asked in a raspy voice. " I think I was called.... Moon.. Who are you?" Maddie  replied, shifting back to a human. The she wolf also shifted and answered. "I was once called Shadow, and he was Ratchet."   Ratchet tried to stand up,   but Moon/Maddie realized his arm  was also caught under a rock. "Shadow.. Are you.... Injured?" Inquire d Moon. "No, I'm not... But... " Shadow said worriedly. "He isn't well. We need to find a doctor. Fast."
