Tw: Child abuse

Mass goes to check his temperature, freezing at how the other flinches, "Hey- hey- I'm not going to hurt you, I just need to check your temperature," he makes sure his tone is soft. "I'm not going to hurt you." Florida doesn't react when he tries again.

Mass moves to pull Florida into his side, shifting so they both fit on the bed.

"'M s'rry," he sniffles, leaning more into Mass' side, "Dad would hit me, when I was younger." Florida stops, taking in a shuddering breath, "'s fine though, I deserved it." He whimpers, grabbing fistfuls of Mass' shirt in an attempt sit up, "I talked too- talked too much anyway-"

Mass stops him, grabbing his wrists in one hand and using the other to push him back down.

"Stop- stop!" Florida shrieks, " I'm sorry! Please! I don't want to be alone!" He kicks his feet out, trying to wriggle out of Mass' hold, "I can be good! I promise- I'll be quiet! Please, don't make me go back!"

Florida chokes back a sob, and Mass worries he's going to hurt himself trying trying to get up, "I'm not, I'm not doing anything," he lets go, putting his hand behind Florida's head to stop him from hitting the headboard, "just relax, I don't want you to hurt yourself."

Florida sobs, burying his head in the crook of Mass' neck, "I'm sorry!"

"You don't have to be sorry." Mass whispers, running a hand through his hair.

He leans into the touch immediately, sobs quieting slightly. 

He tugs on Mass' shirt and looks up pleadingly, "could you- uhm- lay on me? Not in a weird way! It helps....sometimes." He's glancing around nervously, trying to avoid eye contact. 

"Sure," Mass replies, pulling Florida into his chest and laying on top of him, "better?" 

"Yeah." Florida falls asleep eventually, still clinging to Mass.
