Part 6: Teamwork (gone wrong) part 1

Gray, Juvia, Lyon, and I were making out way to the train station. Master had given us a special mission. There was a special request for ice, and water wizards. Why Lyon was there, I don't know, but I wasn't happy about it.

"Lyon, why did you tag along?" Gray asked the question we all were thinking.

Ha ha I find it funny how forward he is about everything, but then when it comes to his feelings he can't seem to say anything. Not that I'm any different.

"Because I wasn't going to let Juvia be alone with just you to protect her." Lyon answered smugly.

"Uh I'm here to." I said slightly offended.

"Tch Yeah well a child like you isn't gonna be much protection either." Lyon said coldly.

"Would you quit calling me a child! You are such a pompous asshole!" I snapped causing some people in the train station to look, but I didn't care I just stomped my foot and got into the train, handing the conductor my ticket. The others soon followed, and started fighting over who sat next to Juvia.

Yeah and I'm the child. I sighed and pulled Juvia down next to me. She gave me a thanking smile seeming stressed with the 'love triangle'.

Lyon and Gray sat down with their arms crossed.

-&-

Me and Lyon had been arguing pretty much the whole train ride, and it was over such stupid stuff, that I don't my even remember what that stupid stuff was.

We were now getting off the train, and Gray seemed annoyed, while Juvia ended up just in her own little world, watching him.

I swear I'm glad in not in that girls mind. It's probably scary in there.

"We are going to go meet the client, so can you two get along, and act professional for five minutes?" Gray asked looking at us.

"I can but I don't know about her." Lyon replied crossing his arms.

I was going to retaliate, but then sighed. "Whatever let's go."

-&-

The client was an older man. He had a nice house, and it seemed slightly big for only him. He seemed to like books, considering he had walls lined with them. If levy knew she'd be so jealous. I couldn't help, but wonder if there was a dictionary among the many books, because the man spoke with a very educated vocabulary.

"I have to stress the importance that the information I'm about to manifest to you stays secret." He explained.

"Of course sir, we promise that no one else will know." Juvia agreed.

He sat down in the armchair across from the couch we were all sitting on. He sighed and his hands started to tremble, seeming like he was troubled. "There has always been a fear that this could happen, but I'm afraid now the situation is becoming increasingly more dire." He said with a deep breath.

"Please sir, what has become more dire?" I asked him.

"Operation Ekklesia, that's what they call themselves." He said. "and their goal is very extreme."

"What is their goal?" Gray asked.

"There is a old legend...." The man trailed off he got up, and removed a book from the shelf he walked back over, and handed it to me.

"The city of Esteven?" I read the title out loud. "But that's just a fairytale."

"So you've heard of it?" He asked.

"Yes..." I replied, but I looked down sadly remembering how the story was told to me. "a lady I once knew... She told me, and the other children the story almost every night." I shook my head, and pushed back the emotions. "But I don't understand. What does a bedtime story have to do with this ekklesia group?"

"Because there has been a recent spike in their activity, and I recently found out what their goal was." He explained. "To find Esteven."

I widened my eyes in shock. "That's impossible... There is no such place."

"Actually there is." The man took a deep breath before continuing. "My family has known for generations. We were sworn to secrecy, the town under no circumstances, should be know to exist."

"And Ekklesia... They're looking for it?" I asked starting to feel panic spark in me.

"Yes they broke in and forced me to tell them if it were real, and ask me where it is, but I answered truthfully. I don't know where it is, no one ever did." He looked down sadly. "They took my son."

"Don't worry, we will get your son back, and stop them." Juvia said comfortingly.

"We have to stop them..." I whispered feeling the tension build.

"Huh?" Gray asked me.

"The city of Esteven... I practically have the story memorized." I got up and moved over to look out the window. "The city of Esteven is not known to many people, only the locals, and they like to keep it that way. There is a great power there. One that was made to keep peace. Made with a sensitive type of magic that can teeter the events of almost anything. It can change the outcome of every event that may happen. From as small as to weather or not a tree looses its leaves, to the outcome of if a sick person will live or die. In the wrong hands it can decide who has power, it can make two friends turn against each other, peaceful people can suddenly murder each other, as the person in control sits back and watches. This is why only a small group knows about it. One day a group of men claiming to be researchers stumbled upon the city. No matter how unwelcome they were by the people, they still insisted on staying. Once they discovered the truth about the city, they forcefully took control of the power, and in turn almost destroyed the word in the process."

"Does such a power actually exist?" Juvia asked seeming slightly scared.

"I'm afraid I don't know for sure, how much of the story is true." The man answered.

"So why did you need ice, and water wizards?" Lyon asked finally speaking.

"In the story a local ice wizard, and a water mage team up, and end up stopping the men, but the power was too corrupt. In order for them to keep the effects of it in the ice wizard used an ancient spell that would hold anything, at the price of the casters body.... Iced shell." I explained.

Gray and Lyon seemed effected when I said the name of the spell, and I knew why Lucy had explained to me what happened to their old master.

"The town at the price of saving the world was thrown into hiding, and never seen again, and the people never heard from." I finished.

"Exactly, so you can see why a power like this can not fall into the wrong hands, and I'm sure that Ekklesia does not have good intentions." He replied.

"They made that clear by the force they used to get the information they needed." Juvia stated.

"You can see how drastic the situation has become." The man sighed.

"We will stop them." Gray said with determination.

"I have no doubt." The man smiled. "But for tonight enjoy the town, your rooms have already been taken care of."

"Thank you sir." Juvia replied, and we all stood and bowed to him. Then we walked out, and made our way to the hotel.

Ekklesia? I thought to myself as we walked. Why does that name sound familiar? I couldn't have heard it before... Could I? And Esteven how could such a story be true. The lady, I never even knew her name, she always told us the story, but she always told it like she believed it was real. I always thought it was just to make us feel like there was hope. I wonder... could she have known it was real?

"(Y/n)?" Gray called.

"Huh?" I snapped out of my thoughts and noticed they were all staring at me.

"You're acting very quiet. Are you ok?" He asked.

"Oh... Uh yes I'm fine." I forced a smile. "Just lost in thought."

"Ok." He said seeming not to fully believe me, but I didn't care I was to busy worrying about how I may connect to all this.

Hey guys hope you liked the new part. It's getting intense. No? Yes? I don't know you tell me. Vote and comment, bye!
