Part 23: loss...

Hey, see I told you I'd update soon. Anyway the picture is Jackson I didn't draw it nor do I know who did, but this is how I envision him so there ya go!

Warning: prepare for feels.

/your p.o.v./

Jackson brought me to a small base in the middle of the woods. There wasn't much there besides a jail cell, one room that served as both the kitchen and living area, and a bathroom. I was placed in the jail where I was watching him sit at the table, playing cards by himself. He told me we had to wait until his boss got there.

He pulled out a cigarette, put it between his lips before lighting it, and breathing out a cloud of the grey smoke.

"That's a filthy habit you know." I told him, still not breaking my ice-cold glare.

He chuckled breathing out yet another cloud. "Yeah well." He tapped it on the edge of an ash tray to get rid of the excess ash. "I don't do it too often. Please don't look at me like that, I am actually a nice guy you know."

We then went back to sitting in silence for a while.

"I have a wife." He suddenly spoke.

"Huh?" I asked in confusion, and slight shock.

"Yep I have a wife, and a little three year old daughter." He continued. "After I got into trouble, and started working for my boss, my wife left. She told me to sort out my life, and then I could come back. I haven't seen my daughter for two years, she probably doesn't even remember me." He paused and puffed more smoke. "My boss told me that if I didn't follow his orders, he'd find a way to hurt them... That's why I did what I did... There's no excuse to justify what I did to you. I'm sorry (y/n) I never really wanted to hurt you. You really are an amazing person, better than I'll ever be."

"Oh..." Was all I could manage.

"Jackson!" We heard a voice call from outside.

He sighed his shoulders drooping slightly as he got up. He snuffed out the remaining cigarette in the ash tray and then walked over to open the door.

"Did you bring her?" The voice asked.

"Yeah I brought her." Jackson mumbled.

"Great bring her out here." I could almost hear the snarl in the other man's voice.

Jackson walked over to the cell, and unlocked the door. He came over and picked me up gently seeing as though my whole body was tightly bound. "Alright come on." There was a flash of some emotion in his golden eyes. But what was it? What is going on in his head?

I was brought outside again and placed on the ground to be met by the other man. "Well well well if it isn't the girl who seems to be impossible to kill." He chuckled.

"Who are you? What do you even want from me?" I asked him.

"I want you to follow your godamn Destiny!" He barked at me. "The leader of Ekklesia who tried to kill you back in Esteven, he was my brother. You made him look like a fool, and you made us lose what we had spent years fighting for! So now I want you to die like you should have back then. Jackson?"

"But father I-" Jackson said seeming almost desperate.

He's Jackson's father?!

"Do not defy my orders! You know what is at stake here boy! You were the one who gave the opportunity for her to escape last time, you are walking on thin ice!" The man yelled at him.

"Yes sir." Jackson said quietly averting his gaze to the ground.

"Now undo her bindings and finish the job I asked of you." His. Father ordered.

Jackson untied me with his magic, leaving a little of the magic rope left so I couldn't fight back. I thought about running, but my body was still to weak. He must have given me something that made my body want to stop working. He then looked over at me, and started to charge a magic attack. "I'm sorry." He whispered so quietly I almost didn't hear him. The look of overwhelming sadness in his eyes was obvious now. I looked away from him waiting for the pain to come. But it didn't.... "God damn it!" He yelled and fell to his knees. "I can't..."

I looked back over at him. I forced myself to stand, but my legs wobbled. I can't run I just can't... Why did this have to happen now. When I was so happy. Jackson was on the ground not even able to look up. He was shaking...

"Tch, Pathetic." The other man said. He then turned to me and started to use his magic. "If you won't do it I will."

Before I even knew what was happening a magic attack strong enough to kill, was sent towards me. Suddenly I was pushed out of the way. When I looked up, Jackson was hit by the attack instead. He fell to the ground, and I crawled over to him.

"Jackson?" I leaned over him and pulled him toward me to look at his injuries. My hand on his stomach felt a warm liquid, I looked to realize it was covered in blood.

"See..." He opened his eyes slowly. He was breathing heavy and was struggling to speak. "Told you... I was actually a nice guy."

It was just then that I realized. Back when we met, and he was so nice, it wasn't a lie. Even though what he did was wrong, when he said all those nice things, tried to cheer me up, and told me he enjoyed spending time with me, that wasn't an act. He wanted to be my friend. Looking back at it now I could see it in his eyes. When he hugged me and held on for a little longer that I was expecting, why didn't I realize. That hug was real and he was in pain. He was in pain and I couldn't help him... And now it's to late.

I felt tears start to form in my eyes as I held his body.

"Don't cry (y/n)" he managed a weak smile. "I told you you are prettier when you smile."

That sentence that at one point I pushed off as causal now pierced me through the heart.

"J-Jackson?" I choked out. "Why? Why were you so kind to me?"

"Because of your eyes." He replied. "They look just like my daughter's. Promise me you'll protect them... Protect my family... They live on the edge of town."

"No... Why are you talking like you are gonna die...?" I asked between cries. "W-we can get you to a healer, and you'll be ok, j-just hold on. J-just p-please don't die."

"(Y/n)..." He said before he coughed out some blood. "This wasn't your fault..." Then his eyes closed. His heavy breathing stopped.

I checked his wrist desperately, there was no pulse...

"Jackson? Jackson please... Don't leave... Don't die." I then let out a loud pain filled cry. "Jackson?!"

"Foolish boy." His father grumbled, and shook his head. "What an idiot." He didn't even seem to care.

"How could you...?" I asked in between sobs. "How could you do that, and feel no remorse?" I shot up. "He was your son! He was your own flesh and blood and now he's dead, and you don't even care! YOU HEARTLESS BASTARD!" My legs gave out and I fell to my knees.

"You think that's the sad part? Oh no, the sad part is that his sacrifice will be for nothing." He began to charge another attack.

Before he could shoot it at me some soldiers from the magic council suddenly stormed the place. They arrested him, and locked him into one of their wagons.

I just sat there and cried. Why Jackson? Why did you have to die for me...?

/Lyon's p.o.v./

When I went outside after talking to Jura (y/n) was no where in sight. I looked everywhere, and started to go into a panic. Where could she have gone?! There's no way she's run off without telling me! So I decided to go back to Lamia Scale, and tell them what happened. I even informed the magic council for safe measures.

To my relief the magic council ended up finding her. They didn't tell me much other than she had been kidnapped. I now was at the place where they found her, and walked up to one of the officers.

"How is she?" I asked trying to seem as calm as I could.

"She wasn't hurt... Physically." The officer said slowly. "But sadly there was a causality." He stopped talking, and then I watched as a familiar figure was carried out on a stretcher. Isn't that Jackson? B-but he's not breathing...

"Where is she?" I asked in worry.

"Over there." He pointed to a small cliff that (y/n) was sitting on the edge of. "She said she didn't want to talk to anyone right now, but you can try. She may still be in shock."

"Ok thank you." I nodded and then walked over to where she was sitting. I sat next to her. She looked up at me with tear-filled eyes, and a look that broke my heart.

"Lyon!" She exclaimed and wrapped her arms around me.

"Are you ok?" I asked as I hugged her back comfortingly.

"Yes." She replied and then pulled away, and looked back down.

I didn't even know what to do. The fragile state she was in now kind of shocked me. It was different then before when she had nightmares. Then she was afraid but now she just seemed like she could fall apart at any moment. "(Y/n) what's wrong?"

She began to cry again. "He died..." She sniffled. "Jackson, he died to protect me..."

"You can't blame yourself." I told her.

"I'm not, but... He had a family Lyon." She held back her crying more. "Now his daughter will have to grow up without a father, b-because he decided to save me."

"(Y/n)." I wrapped my arms around her and pulled her close. She leaned in to me and started to cry into my chest. "Jackson made a decision to save you. That shows that he did really care about you. No matter how short of a time you knew him. He was one of your friends, a part of your family. It's going to hurt, but he wouldn't want you destroying yourself. And the rest of your family wouldn't want you to either. You live on, and find the joys in life for the people you lost, and for the people you still have."

She then slowly stopped crying. She lifted her head to meet my gaze. "Than will you do something for me?"

"Anything." I told her. And I really meant it. I would do absolutely anything for her.

"Take me to see his family." She said.

I smiled at her. "Okay."

/your p.o.v/

Lyon did what I asked and brought me to Jackson's family. I stayed strong as I explained to his wife what had happened.

She cried, and had to wipe her nose a few times, but let me finish.

"I-I haven't seen him in a while. I should have talked to him. I should have told him he could have come home. I just knew that him working for his father was a bad Idea, but I never thought..." She stopped and started to cry again. I waited patiently for her to stop.

"We just wanted to tell you that we, and the magic council, will make sure nothing will ever happen to you and your daughter." I said and bowed to her.

"Th-thank you." She managed a smile. "I-I have something I want to give you. Wait here and I'll get it." She walked into her house.

I let out a deep breath that I didn't know I was holding in.

"So he's gone?" I heard a small voice, I looked down to see a little girl. Jackson was right she had the exact eyes that I did.

"Yes." I replied simply.

"I don't remember my daddy." She admitted. "What was he like?"

I smiled and leaned down to her level. "Your father was a great man. And he loved you more than anything in the world."

She smiled at me. The same smile that Jackson had wore.

I stood up as her mother came back.

"Here." She placed something in my hand.

I looked to see it was a lighter with the letters J.D. Inscribed on it.

"It stands for Jackson Draker." She explained. "That was his favourite one."

"I can't take this." I said.

"No please, you were his friend, I want you to have it." She said with a smile. She then wrapped her arms around me. "Don't worry too much about this, okay? I'm glad he died to protect such an amazing young girl."

I felt tears form in my eyes again. They weren't exactly sad tears though. More like ones of relief. I hugged her back. "Thank you."

Hey guys! Uhhhh. UUUHHHH! My little fangirl heart! I wrote the death scene during school, and was reading it aloud to one of my friends to make sure it sounded alright, and we both almost cried. Jackson was my character, and it feels like I lost a child! But it's ok I'll be fine. And yes he die, and no he will not come back. Sorry but I feel this is very important for the story. I had this plan for him ever since I thought him up. Anyway tell me what you thought. Vote and comment, bye!
