Part 17: Not Your Fight

I wish I knew who drew this picture, because I want to hug them! It's so freaking amazing! Anyway enjoy the chapter.

We had gotten back to the guild hall, and just had a normal day. Well whatever fairy tail calls normal. As it started getting later and later slowly the members started to leave, till I was practically the only one there. I yawned feeling my eyes droop slightly.

"You should sleep you know." I heard a voice.

"Oh... Hey Lyon I didn't know you were still here." I muttered. "I-I really don't want to sleep."

"Because of the nightmares?" He asked. He then sat down across from me. "They're about your past aren't they?"

"Yeah, how'd you know?" I tilted my head slightly.

"Lucky guess." He replied. "But you can't stop sleeping forever, it's not healthy."

"I know, but the memories just keep playing through in my head, like a movie." I frowned.

"Well maybe if you finished it they would stop." He suggested. "Have you ever tried that?"

"No..." I replied thinking about it. "But I'm scared. Stay with me?"

He smiled at me. "Yeah sure."

"Do you promise?" I asked.

"Yeah I promise." He replied.

The familiarity of the conversation pierced me in the heart slightly, but then I sighed and leaned back in my seat.

Lyon put a comforting arm around me, and I closed my eyes. Due to my tiredness I quickly drifted off.

I sat in the cell across from Lilah. Me and her were two of the few left of our original group. I was greatfull that she was still with me, otherwise I don't think I could make it through even a single day. We had been in this place for years, how many, I've lost count, but I do know we were staring to age into young teens. I still can't believe my life is destined to forever be in this hell, never to see the light again. What kind of a screwed up destiny is that. One I don't want to follow. What scared me more is they had brought in a new group of children, just as young as we once were. We tried to comfort them, and give them some sort of hope, but that was hard to do in a place like this. Plus without being shown any compassion for a while, our people skills were a little rusty. I was sick of this place. I was sick of pain. I was sick of watching the suffering of others. I was sick of never being called a name, but just my identification number,167. I was sick of following someone's so called destiny for me. I was done with that. Screw destiny. So now I have a plan.

"(Y/n) that's insane." Lilah whispered to me.

"What is? Do you really want to spend the rest of your life here?" I asked. "we need to break out. If we all work together we can do it."

"If we fail the consequences-" I cut her off.

"Will be nothing worse than what we've already been through." I sighed. "What about these kids, do you really want them to go through what we did. We can save them Lilah."

"Ok you're right." She sighed. "We'll do it tonight. When some of the guards are gone."

"Alright it's a plan." I nodded.

That night was disastrous. I had gotten separated from my group. The prisoners fought bravely against the evil men that made them suffer. We had lost many, I prayed that Lilah and the others were safe. Right now I was trying to run toward an exit. I could see the starting to rise sunlight. I was tired, so tiered, and hurt. The men were relentless. My leg felt like I could hardly walk on it. A familiar figure jumped in front of me. Using his magic on my good leg. I was sent crashing to the ground, with a cry of pain. I tried to get up but failed. My legs hurt too badly. I laid there crying as I realized. There's no hope. I failed. I'll always be trapped here.

"Stupid stupid girl." The doctor growled. "Did you really think you could win? You'll never be free. You are useless to me now. I should just kill you." He charged up and other magic attack.

Just then a magic spell hit him and sent him flying back. I heard men's voices, and the stomping of metal boots.

"Magic council enforcement units, quickly move out! Arrest anyone working here, and help the prisoners!"

The men charged into the place, and a soldier came up to me. He kneeled to my level, placed down his weapon, and smiled at me sympathetically. "It's ok." He said as he picked up my still trembling body. "You're safe now."

/Lyon's p.o.v./

After some tossing and turning (y/n) had opened her eyes again.

"That's right." she whispered she still seemed half a asleep. "I'm safe now..."

"Yes you are, so get some proper sleep." I told her. "And sweet dreams."

She slowly drifted into a deep sleep, this time a peaceful one.

The next morning everyone started arriving back at the guild. I had carried (y/n) up to the spare room last nigh, but decided to stay just in case.

Gray walked up to me. "Woah what's with you?"

"I slept in a chair." I replied grumpily stretching my back. "What do you think is with me?"

"Ok geez grumpy. What are you still doing here anyways, shouldn't you go back to your guild?" He asked. "Are you staying because of (y/n)?"

"What would she have to do with it?" I asked.

He just sighed. "Never mind."

"Where is (y/n)?" Levy asked.

"Sleeping." I replied simply.

The doors to the guild opened, and a man that I didn't recognize as any of the other members walked in.

"May I help you?" Mira asked politely, but I could tell by her tone of voice that she was skeptical.

"I'm looking for someone." He said with a smile, that looked more like a smirk. Something about him just made me feel strange.

"No fucking way." Nazar suddenly got up from his seat abruptly, and moved over to the man.

"Nazar what's wrong?" Kaya asked with genuine worry, as she followed him.

"I'm sorry." The man addressed Nazar. "Have we met?"

"Not personally." Nazar gritted through his teeth. "But I really think you should leave."

"I think you shouldn't be so rude." The man replied with a hint of sass.

"What's going on?" I heard (y/n)'s voice as she walked over to the group. She froze when she saw the man. I saw a slight flash of terror in her eyes.

"Ah there you are, number 167, one of my personal favorites." He used his magic to pull her over to him and hold her in place threateningly. "Nobody move."

I stopped, reluctantly, from lunging at the man.

(Y/n) struggled against his grip. She still seemed really scared, almost like she had after her nightmares.

"Now now behave, you don't want me to have remind you who gave you those scars." He sighed. "I do miss the old days, your screams were like music to my ears."

It took all the strength in me not to kill him right then and there. I glared at him, and clenched my hands into fists. I wasn't the only one who was so angry. The whole guild was giving off a dangerous aura.

"Water slicer!" (Y/n)'s voice echoed through the practically silent guild hall, as her attack sent him flying back. "I'm not your Goddamn test subject anymore!" She yelled with more anger than I had ever seen before. "I'm not the same scared little girl that I was back then."

The man chuckled sarcastically as he got up from the floor. "Ha wow I have to say I wasn't quite expecting that."

Kaya started to run toward the starting brawl, but Nazar stopped her.

"It's not your fight." He told her. "She has to do this on her own."

"Do you really think you can win against me?" The man asked.

"Like I said." (Y/n) looked at him with such a serious glare that it almost was scary. He magic energy pulsed around her. "I'm not the same scared little girl that I used to be."

-&-(time skip because fighting scenes are boring to write all the way through)

/your p.o.v./

I stood across from the 'doctor', as we both tried to catch our breaths. It was a hard fight, but I wasn't really expecting it to be easy. We had eventually ended up by the big tree in town, and luckily not many towns people were out. It was raining lightly, giving me a slight advantage, but he was strong, and I was running out of magic energy. I knew my water attacks would do little to help me now. I knew what I had to do, I just hoped I could muster up enough magic. One spell should finish him off.

I got in my stance, using both hands, and charged up my power. "Ice make..." I paused to take a breath. "Glacier!"

The large piece of ice shot up from the ground sending him flying. The ice soon dispersed, and he landed onto the dirt below.

He tried to get up, but failed and was left lying unconscious on the ground.

I've finally won. My legs shook, and I was very weak from the lack of magic energy.

"(Y/n)!" I heard a voice call, and my friends ran up behind me.

I started to fall to the ground, but someone caught me just in time.

"Damn." Lyon said as he gently laid me on the ground, and kneeled by me. "You look like shit."

"Yeah but... I beat him..." I managed a small laugh.

He smiled slightly. "That you did. Now get some rest."

I closed my eyes and drifted off, the weak smile still on my face.

Hey guys, hope you liked the new part! Just a reminder Nazar has seen you memories, which is how he recognized the doctor. Anyway I hope you like how you finally kicked that no good shit head's ass. More romance coming soon. ;) Vote and comment, bye!
