Not Nice to Meet You
The town of Greenhills was alive today. Pokémon were everywhere. How could they not be? It was a beautiful day! A Jolteon was casually walking through town, simply enjoying a stroll. He looked around and had to smile. Everywhere he looked Pokémon were laughing and smiling. It made him happy to see them like that.
Greenhills was his hometown and he knew most of these Pokémon. They were good people. They deserved to be happy. He continued his midday walk through the cheery town, whistling quietly to himself.
'Another beautiful day,' he thought. 'Eh?'
His head tilted as he caught sight of her. A Glaceon, spinning in slow circles. She was obviously lost. He chuckled to himself as he approached. 'Suppose I should help.'
He walked right up to her with a big smile. "Hi there."
"Um, hi?" She replied cautiously.
"You lost?"
"No. I'm just looking for someone."
"Maybe I can help. What kind of Pokémon are they?"
"I can find her myself thank you."
Jolteon frowned. "Are you sure? I know most of the Pokémon around here. I could help."
Glaceon sighed and looked at him. "Thank you but no. Besides, this is her first time here. You wouldn't know her."
"I can still help."
"Seriously? Take a hint! I'm not interested."
She huffed and walked away, leaving Jolteon very confused. Slowly it dawned on him. She thought he was hitting on her.
He scoffed and continued his walk. 'Wow. I offer to help, and she thinks I'm flirting? She must be pretty up-herself.'
Lost in his thoughts, he didn't notice the Pokémon walking towards him, and they collided.
"Ow, sorry," he said, rubbing his head.
"That's alright. I wasn't watching where I was going," she replied. "Are you alright?"
"Yeah I'm fine. What about you?"
"I'm okay."
"Well I'm glad," he said with a small laugh.
Finally, he stopped rubbing his head and looked up. His jaw dropped, standing before him was the most beautiful Pokémon he'd ever seen. She laughed cutely as she raised her head and smiled at him. Her eyes were brown; they were simple, but gorgeous.
He gulped and smiled shakily. "Uh, hi. I'm Dash."
"Well Dash, it's nice to meet you. My name's Emily."
Dash's brain raced too fast; he couldn't think of what to say. In the end he smiled and just blurted out the first thing he thought of.
"I haven't seen you around before. Are you from out of town?"
"Yes actually. I just moved here with my sister."
"Your sister?"
"Yeah. We were supposed to be going to our new house together, but I got lost and we got separated."
"I'm sure it wasn't your fault."
Emily laughed softly. "Oh, it was. I have a terrible sense of direction. I'm always getting lost. I'm actually older than her, but my sister always has to look after me."
Dash's brain had finally slowed down; he was thinking properly again. When he'd tried this earlier it had ended bad, but Emily seemed sweet and kind: The total opposite of that Glaceon.
He smiled at her. "Well, if you like, I can help you look for your sister."
Emily's jaw dropped a little. "Would you?"
Dash laughed. "Yeah, no problem."
They started walking side-by-side; searching the town. As they went Pokémon smiled and waved to them.
"Hey, Dash, how's it going?" Called an Arcanine.
"Good, Flash. You?"
"Great!"
"That's good. I gotta go but have a good one."
"Hey thanks, you too!"
And that was just the start. They were greeted by an Ampharos, a Pelipper and a Dewott. Every time, Dash would laugh, say something nice and keep walking.
Emily smiled at him. "Wow, someone's popular."
Dash chuckled. "Eh. I've lived here all my life, so I know almost everyone. Living here is pretty great. I think you'll like it."
Emily smiled sweetly. "Well I'm liking the Pokémon here already."
Dash blushed a little and hoped she didn't see it.
Emily suddenly gasped and Dash whipped his head around to see what she was looking at it.
"Sis!" Shouted Emily.
Across the square a Pokémon turned her head at the call and saw both Emily and Dash. Dash's face fell when he recognised the Glaceon from earlier. Emily ran towards her sister with a big smile, but Glaceon leapt right past Leafeon and crashed into Jolteon.
"Creep! What did you do to my sister!?"
Glaceon lashed out with a volley of rapid-fire punches. Poor Jolteon got pummelled.
"Glacey!" Yelped Leafeon. "Get off him! He helped me find you!"
Still punching Dash, Glaceon frowned at Emily. "Em! You know better than to talk to strangers!"
"But... I was lost, and I couldn't find you and, and..." Leafeon's lips trembled. She was on the verge of tears.
Glaceon stopped punching Dash and hugged her sister. "I know. I'm sorry. You did nothing wrong."
Emily sniffled. "I didn't?"
"No, you didn't. It was Jolteon's fault!"
Dash yelped. "What?!"
"Stay away from my sister!"
"Glacey, calm down. What's wrong?" Asked Emily.
"I was looking for you when this guy comes up out of nowhere and starts hitting on me!"
Emily gasped dramatically and looked at Dash with a shocked expression.
"I did not! I saw Glaceon looking lost and I offered to help. That's all there is to it."
Glaceon 'Hmphed' and turned around. "Leafy, we're leaving," she said, walking away.
Leafeon smiled sweetly at Jolteon. "Sorry about her. Thanks for your help."
Dash blushed a little. "No worries. It was nice meeting you."
"You too."
"Uh, Glaceon's almost gone."
Emily yelped and raced after her sister. "Bye Dash!" She shouted over her shoulder.
Smiling, he waved goodbye. That Glaceon was a nightmare, so violent, but that Leafeon was beautiful, sweet and so kind. He was glad that she'd be staying around.
With a happy sigh he looked around. The sun was beginning to reach for the distant horizon. He'd stayed out longer then he meant to. He should be getting home.
Turning towards home, he ran. He enjoyed running. He was good at it. He was moving fast; though he could go much quicker if he wanted. Leaving the town's paved roads, he ran along the old forest path.
He laughed loudly as the wind raced by. It was a good life. He slowed down upon reaching his house. It was a tall two-storey treehouse. He pushed the door open and walked inside.
"Hey! I'm home!" He called loudly.
"Attack!"
A Pokémon dropped from above, squashing him flat. Grunting, he stumbled but stayed standing. Though he fell when another Pokémon crash tackled him.
Dash was lying on the ground, a Vaporeon on top of him. An Eevee giggled in front of him.
"Ow," said Dash.
"Gotcha!" Yelled Vaporeon.
Dash laughed and stood up. Vaporeon hung limply over his back, giggling happily.
"Hey, sorry I'm late."
"That's alright," said Vaporeon.
"What took you so long?" Whined Eevee.
Jolteon chuckled. "I met some new Pokémon and they needed my help."
Someone knocked on the door.
Vaporeon frowned. "Who's that? Your new friends?"
Dash tilted his head. "Probably not."
He opened the door and before him stood a surprised Leafeon.
"Dash?" Asked Emily.
"Em?"
"Called it!" Shouted Vaporeon.
Ignoring her, Dash looked at Emily. "What're you doing here?"
"I live here. What about you?"
"Oh, Glacey and I got lost again."
Dash chuckled. "Where are you trying to go?"
"162 Cheri Tree road."
He nodded. "Ah, that's just up the road a little ways. Would you like me to show you?"
"Please."
"No problem." Dash looked over his shoulder. "Bambi? Sophie? You wanna come for a quick walk?"
Vaporeon was still lying across his back, but she cheered nonetheless. "Yeah! You're carrying me though."
Dash sighed and accepted his fate. "Fine. Bambi?"
Dash looked this way and that, searching for the little Eevee. A small, bushy tail gave her away. She was fearfully crouched behind his rear paw and was cautiously watching Leafeon.
Dash chuckled. "Bambi, come and say hi."
Slowly, Bambi peeled herself away from his. Instead of hiding behind him she crawled underneath him, until she was huddled behind his forepaws; looking up at Leafeon.
Emily smiled at the young Eevee. "Hi there."
"Hello," whispered Bambi.
"I'm lost. Can you help me?"
Bambi nodded slowly. Dash smiled at Emily. He was impressed, Bambi was pretty shy around new Pokémon.
"Bambi, go tell Chris where we're going and ask if he wants to come," said Dash.
Bambi ran off and came back seconds later, shaking her head. "He doesn't wanna come."
Dash shrugged. "Oh well. You can meet him some other time," he said to Emily. "Speaking of which, this might be a good time for introductions. Let's start walking and all introduce you all."
"Onwards steed!" Shouted Vaporeon.
Dash sighed. He stepped out and closed the door after him. They walked down the short pathway to the road where Glaceon was waiting. She was not happy to see him.
"Stalker!"
Leafeon sighed. "Glacey, that's rude."
"What's a stalker?" Bambi asked Dash.
Glaceon saw the little Eevee standing beside Jolteon and lost it. "Children too? You're sick! Take this!"
Dash stood perfectly still and watched with a confused expression. This made him an easy target for Glaceon's flying ninja kick. She kicked him in the face; sending Vaporeon flying.
Glaceon trapped him in a wicked headlock and she glared menacingly: Though she stopped when a small voice spoke up.
"What are you doing to my daddy?" Bambi asked quietly.
Eevee was scared. This mean Glaceon was attacking her dad. Tears sprung to her eyes and she watched helplessly. Glaceon gulped and slowly released Dash. He coughed and choked.
"Glaceon!" Scolded Emily.
Glaceon flinched. If Emily was calling her Glaceon then she'd done something wrong.
Emily sighed. "Dash, maybe now would be a good time for those introductions you mentioned."
Dash coughed a little more before nodding. "Right. I'm Dash. The Eevee is Bambi. My brother Chris, a Flareon, is in the house. He's shy. And the Vaporeon... wait. Where'd she go?"
As if on cue a Vaporeon leapt from the bushes, onto the road. "Dash! Did you see me? I flew! I evolved into a Flyeon!"
Dash sighed. "That's my sister Sophie. She is not shy."
Leafeon smiled. "Well it's nice to meet you all. I'm Emily and this is my sister Bella."
Bella frowned. "Bambi, Sophie, nice to meet you. What's with the Jolteon?"
Emily frowned. "Be nice. They're showing us the way to our house."
Bella sighed. "Okay. Which way?"
"Follow me," said Dash, smiling.
He started walking and they all followed after. Sophie talked nonstop. Emily replied when she could, but Bella was silent. Bambi was quiet too. She was walking close beside Dash.
After a short walk they came to a small house on the roadside. It was an old hut, falling apart at the seams. Dash looked at it sceptically. It wasn't even a house. It was literally collapsing as they looked at it.
Sophie frowned. "This is your house? Talk about your fixer-upper. You sure this is the right place?"
Emily smiled gently. "Don't worry about it. This was the only house in our price range. We knew it was gonna need some work."
Dash looked at her with wide eyes. "Some work? That thing isn't safe!"
Emily smiled. "We'll make do. Thank you for everything Dash."
"You can't be serious," said Dash. "I've seen Garbodor that look better than that! And Garbodor is literal trash!"
Emily placed her paw over his and smiled sweetly. "Thank you for your concern, but we'll be fine. We always are."
Sophie jumped on Dash's back. Leaning over his head she grinned at Emily. "You could be fine oooor you could stay with us!"
Dash stood up straight, so he was looking Emily in the eye again. "You know she's right. We have a spare room. You and Bella could stay there while this place gets, uh, renovated."
Emily frowned. "We couldn't do that to you. Besides we don't have any money to pay for renovations."
Dash smiled; It was time to impress the ladies! And help. That too. He's doing this for Leafeon and Glaceon. Though mainly Leafeon.
"I'm not working at the moment, I could renovate for you," he offered.
"I'm putting my paw down!" Shouted Bella. "We don't need any help."
The house chose this moment to creak and tip and fall over. It collapsed with a loud 'crash'.
Bella glared at the fallen wreck.
Dash frowned. "That's a shame," he said. Though inwardly he was rejoicing. If the sisters stayed with him that meant he could spend time with Leafeon.
Emily sighed and dropped her head. "Dash, may we stay at your house for a short while?"
"You may."
Emily smiled sadly. "Thank you."
Bella groaned and rolled eyes. "Fine, but if you, Jolteon, try anything, so help me!"
