Juvia's POV

Juvia felt a gash open up in her shoulder, the warm sickly blood beginning to pool on her cloak.

The teeth surrounded her, the heat unbearable. Dark. Light. She knew she was dying.

She inhaled sharply as another tooth impaled her right thigh. Tears began to pour. She couldn't move. She couldn't think. This was it. She closed her eyes.

Suddenly, she felt something wrap around her back. A sharp tug. And then- fresh air. She cracked open her eyes.

"Juvia, you're gonna be okay." It was Loki, face ashen, scaling down the side of the dragon.

She took in her surroundings. They were on what appeared to be a giant crystal, sharp points jutting out at random. On closer inspection, she realized that it was the dragon itself that was the crystal. It seemed the dragons entire outer skin mass was composed entirely of sharp, white crystals.

She then remembered they were hundreds of feet off the ground.

"Loki! How'd you get up here? How are we going to get down?" Juvia shouted urgently.

Loki could barely hear her over the roar of the wind, but instead motioned with his head down.

Juvia glanced down to see Happy near the foot of the dragon, fighting to stay afloat among the heavy flapping of the dragon's wings.

When they reached the bottom of the dragon, near its foot, Loki set her down.

"I can't stay out here for much longer or else I'll disappear. I'm sorry Juvia. Have faith."

Juvia nodded his way as he disappeared in a flash of bright light.

She then returned to the task at hand. Glancing down, she noticed Happy, hands outstretched.

"Juvia! You're gonna have to jump!" He shouted through the wind.

Juvia was losing blood by the second, and the Deathlock had fully taken over her head. She was freezing in such a  high altitude, her teeth chattering. She felt herself blacking out. But she knew she had to give it one last push.

Using all remaining energy, she pushed off the dragon, into the air.

Out of nowhere, she was pushed out of the air by what seemed a wall of brute force.

The wind was knocked out of her lungs, and she could barely tell what was going on.

Then she realized she had been grabbed once again by the dragon's claw.

She tried to make out where Happy was, but she was being flung around in the claw. She couldn't even tell which way was up. She didn't even think she cared anymore.

She saw a light in the distance, getting closer and closer. She started getting hotter and hotter. Was this it?

Then she started to make out a figure- it wasn't just a light, it was a person.

"N-Natsu!" His name escaped her lips.

The two made eye contact for a split second, his body engulfed in a thick flame. But this contact lasted only a moment. He immediately sped past her.

She suddenly felt something wrap around her back. Blue paws?

"Happy!" She made out.

"Don't worry Juvia! I got you this time! Just hang on!"

Juvia felt herself being lifted off of the dragons claw, into the air, being propelled by Happy's wings.

As they soared through the air, descending back towards the earth, Juvia looked up in a panic.

"What about Natsu?" She struggled.

"Not sure. I think he said he was going to kill that thing or something."

Juvia panicked. There was no way this thing could be defeated. It's skin was made entirely of impenetrable crystals. Not even Natsu could break through them.

"We have to go back!" She flustered. "He's being too reckless. He can't defeat that thing!"

Happy remained silent.

Juvia looked up, and her fears were confirmed.

Natsu's POV

His body aflame, he raced up the side of the dragon.

"Hey! Dragon freak! I don't know what you were thinking, messing with our guild members. But you're gonna pay!"

With that, he clasped his hands together, pulling in all of the power he could muster.

"Fire Dragon Fists!" He brought all of the attack channeled at the neck of the beast.

There was a sharp rumble, the dragon being propelled back a few feet. And then-

"What?" Natsu could barely hold back his confusion.

He didn't even leave a scratch.

Before he could react, the dragon snatched him out of the air with his claw. Natsu struggled, but couldn't break free.

He found himself staring into the mouth of the beast, and for a small moment, he pictured Juvia, him dead and leaving her alone. He could never do that to her.

He shouted out into the open air, struggling all the more- to no avail.

With a jarring rumble, Natsu found himself being thrown through the air, and into the mouth of the dragon.

Juvia's POV

"NO! NATSU!" She screamed.

Happy stopped flying.

"He- he's not actually..."

They were faced with only silence. The dragon paused for a few seconds, then continued its flight on.

Tears streamed down Juvia's eyes, rain beginning to pour. Thunder clapped sharply.

Then, a boom.

Juvia looked up, to see smoke billowing from the mouth of the dragon.

It had stopped flying, head swerving in random directions. It seemed confused.

And then- an earth shattering explosion from within the beast.

The inside of the dragons stomach exploded, shattering into thousands of shards of crystal dust. It drifted down, covering Juvia with a thin layer of sparkling light.

And then appeared Natsu.

He continued attacking the dragon from the inside on the gash he had made from the inside, breaking apart more and more until the dragon fell straight out of the sky, shooting down through the clouds and out of sight.

And then Natsu fell.

Juvia shouted in terror. All of the time she had ever spent with Natsu flashed through her eyes. She couldn't lose him. Not yet.

Although the deathlock had taken her powers with it, she searched deep inside, channelling whatever power she had left, and flung it at Natsu.

Within seconds, a stream of water flew down, catching Natsu on his fast descent, and lowering him down to the ground slowly.

Juvia sighed in relief, before exhaling sharply as she felt whatever energy she had left leave her.

Before she knew it, Happy had lowered her to the ground safely, where she collapsed in a heap on the grass.

"I'm flying to get help. You stay here." Happy shouted distantly before flying away quickly. Juvia paid him no mind. She could barely stay conscious.

It was at this moment that Juvia fully felt the effects of the Deathlock pulling at her. She gazed up at the sky, blood pouring from her wounds. The sun had come out once again.

Before she reached her acceptance of her fate, she heard a voice echo in the distance.

"Juvia. Juvia! Juvia are you alright?!" It was Natsu, though she couldn't tell where he was coming from.

"Stay with me. Stay with me please, Juves."

Juvia felt tears brim up in her eyes. She smiled. This truly was the way she wanted to die.

"Juvia please. Not yet. You're the only person in life I really do love. Actually. And I've always wanted to tell you that I love you, I've just never gotten the guts to say it. I've been so stupid. Dammit!" He choked, tears falling.

"Juvia. Please. No." With that, he knelt over, cradling her in his arms, and pressed his lips to hers.

In that sudden moment, Juvia suddenly felt her powers rush back to her. Her energy coursed through her veins once again. She inhaled sharply, and opened her eyes.

Natsu let out a cry of relief.

She smiled weakly back at him.

Natsu wiped his tears away in confusion.

"Hey, I think your hair is turning blue again."

Juvia tilted her head to the side, a strand of hair falling over her eye. Indeed, it was blue again.

She realized- the Deathlock had been reversed. In the end, it was Natsu that was the cause of the heartbreak.

She let out a sob, pulling him into another kiss, this time kissing him back.

The two remained like that for a few more moments, until Juvia snapped back to reality, noticing blood pooling up on the grass around her.

Before she could come to her senses, she felt herself blacking out once again. The last thing she heard was the sound of Natsu, calling her name.
