Chapter 7
I had no idea English could be so boring, I had to force myself to stay awake throughout the so called lecture. The teacher, Ms Baugh, only told us to read a few chapters of a book we would be using for the Semester. I read the book years ago, so I didn’t have to do it again. Everyone else either did the same or they were more interested on what’s on their phones. Kiran scrolled mindlessly through the pages while her eyes were glued to her phone.
“Do you plan on reading that?” She heard the irritation behind my words and glanced at me.
“No, I read it already, it’s pretty impressive if you ask me.” She responded and closed the book. “Oh my God, when will this end.” She groaned. The teacher looked up at us in the back, told us to be quite then went back to whenever she was watching. We weren’t the only ones making noise so I didn’t see why she pointed us out.
“I hope this isn’t how things will be throughout this semester.” Kiran whispered. “I learned better English when I travelled to Spain last year.”
I chuckled lightly and agreed, “I can help you, it’s not like you can’t speak it well already,”
“That would be best,” she smiled, “ouuu, and don’t you speak another language?”
I nodded, “creole, it’s simply broken English,”
“Why haven’t I heard you speak it before?”
I shrugged, “I’m not home, and it’s not like you’d understand anything I say.”
She grabbed my arm excitedly, “Please do it.” She pled.
“Okay, what should I say?”
She released my arm and thought to herself, “My name is Rose and I’m from Jamaica.”
I cleaned my throat, “Mi name Rose and mi come from Jamaica,”
“Omg, you sounded so different,” she gasped her shock. “Uh, do something else.” She begged.
“Mi nuh know wah fi say and mi hungry.” I replied.
“You’re hungry?”
I nodded, “yes. I said that I didn’t know what to say and I’m hungry.”
“I’ll appreciate it, if you two could step out of my class with your misbehaving.” We looked at Ms Baugh and found her glaring our way.
“Excuse me?” Kiran asked confused.
“You’re both excused, out!” She pointed towards the door. I glad took my bag and left, the student staring as I went by them. Kiran came behind me a few seconds after.
“We weren’t the only ones making noise,” she complained, “I hate her.”
I sighed and walked to my locker. I don’t want my entire school year to be like this, what will become of me if I continue getting kicked out of classes. I opened my locked and slammed my books in with frustration, Kiran did the same as both of us were mad.
“What did those poor lockers do to you?” I turned to see a guy leaning against the lockers behind us with a smirk. He was one of the boys accompanying Alec the other day. I rolled my eyes and slammed my locker close.
I signed and turned to face him, “Don't you have a class?”
“Free period, princess,”
“Ew, don’t call me that.” I scrunched my face in disgust and he laughed walking towards us with a light gait
“Care to join me for lunch?” He asked with visible confidence. I looked to Kiran to see if she wanted to and she nodded yes, I rolled my eyes at her and turned to fix the brunette guy with a Stare. "And why should we? We barely know you yet."
“Dean,” he placed his hand out and I shook it, not without an arrogant smirk, teasing him.
“Rose, and this is Kiran.” He nodded at Kiran, indiscreetly eying her and tutting, a blush appeared on kiran's cheeks and I rolled my eyes yet again. "Nice to met you both,” he said then licked his lips in a way that was supposed to be seductive eww.
We left together for the cafeteria. Dean offered to get us lunch and asked for our orders, then he came back with everything. As we eat he made small conversation with Kiran, he asked me a few questions at times but I was busy eating to engage. I peeked at Kiran, she was giggling at something Dean had said, I rolled my eyes knowing he’s not at all funny; he’s just using his cuteness and corny pickup lines.
“So, Rose,” I looked at him in question, “where you from?”
“Jamaica,” I answered.
“Oh, sick. My parents go there every summer.”
I swallowed the bit of food in my mouth, “then you must travel there a lot,” praying to God yet again that he wouldn't be like Lawrence and should shut his mouth soon and let !e enjoy my food in peace. He shook his head, “it was always for business so I never accompany them I planned on going next time tho,”
“Okay,” I smiled curtly, hoping he gets the hint and stops talking. I loved making conversations but not when I was eating, there'd be great risk of getting food stuck in my throat or even in my brain and then I'd die - over what? Trying to talk while eating ? Nah!
“Hey, maybe I can even visit you,” he offered.
“We’ll see,” He seemed to get the hint at that and shrugged, turning to face Kiran who was happy to talk with him.
He went back to talk with Kiran, and I happily went back to my food. I needed some food from my hometown, and I doubt there was any Jamaican restaurants nearby. I could cook for myself tho, I planned to ask Kiran to accompany me. I could make one of mom’s recipes, she was the best at making all my favorite meals. I planned on calling her after school, we talked this morning also, I miss them so much already.
“Dean?” He answered with an incredibly deep “hmm”,
“Do you know of any Jamaican restaurants?”
He nodded, “uh, I’m sure the guys and I can find one, if you like.”
I smiled and nodded, “thanks.” in my mind I was wondering what he meant by 'guys' how many were they exactly? I wasn't keen on meeting stupid hormonal men who would act like teens.

This is a really short update, and we apologize for that, we both have been really busy this week, we hardly had time to write anything and we got our own different books to work on too. Do forgive us and leave comments as we would like to hear what you think.
