Chapter 12

Dean and I hurried through the thick crowd of drunk teens and entered this car. We drove straight to campus and wasted no time to go to Kiran's room. We weren't sure she'd be there, however it wouldn't hurt to look. I was worried for Kiran, how could I not notice that before.

We'd just met but I wished I'd noticed something before. Dean impatiently knocked on the door, it was 2:00 AM, anyone inside was probably asleep. When no one answered, Dean barged in like he owned the place. I shook my head and followed behind him.

We stopped in the center of the room finding Kiran's small form curled up in a ball. Her quite sobs filled the room, I look of pity crossed Dean's features.

He was about to approach her when I stopped him and shook my head, "You should go." I whispered softly. "It's okay, I'll handle things from here," I added when he was about to protest. I thought the last time Kiran need right then was to face Dean. He clenched his fists and walked out, closing the door quietly behind him.

Taking a deep breath I approached Kiran, she was still in her outfit from the party. Her face was turned away towards the wall. Laying behind Her I wrapped my arms around her shoulders pulling her against me. I doubt she needed me to interrogate her, or try to give her some "it will be okay" speech. She just wanted someone to be there for her and that's what I was going to do. Be there in her darkest hours.

"I'm here," I whispered, my face quivering slightly. In response Kiran turned and buried her face in my neck, crying harder and louder than before. I held her slightly as I began to tear up as well.

Waking up with small arms clamped around my waist reminded me of what occurred last night. Kiran was knocked out beside me but she had a death grip on me, as if to keep me from moving. Being that it was Sunday, there wasn't any point in waking her due to not having school. Apart from the tear and makeup strains, her face was peacefully at rest; Kiran was truly beautiful.

I couldn't help but wonder what she had went through, and what lead to her current situation. I hadn't even seen the signs, but somehow Dean had by just spending a few hours with her. Speaking of Dean, I didn't update it, he's probably worried.

"Rose?" A small, pained voice whispered.

I yawned, "good morning," I quickly covered my mouth, "sorry, I probably have morning breath." I gave an embarrassed chuckle and sat up.

She sat up against the wall, cupped her hands and blew her breath.

"Omg," she laughed, "I reek of liquor and vomit, I didn't even drink much."

"I'm surprised I didn't find you and Dean at the bar or something."

Her smile fell, "oh, that happened..." the entire mood changed by mentioning him. "He must think I'm pathetic."

"Wait, what? No, he was really worried about you." I quickly cleared with her. "If anything he wants to understand you, and I do too."

She sighed, "I don't want to talk about,"

I nodded showing her it was okay, "just know that I'm here,"

This was a delicate situation and should be handled carefully. Kiran must feel safe with us and we should provide her with assurance.

"You should go brush your teeth, your breath chokes me." I attempted to change topic. She fixed me with a playful glare.

"Look who's talking." We both laughed at that.

Grabbing my hands firmly, she fixed me with a look I understood too perfectly. Nodding, I reassured her.

"I know. You don't have to tell me anything, just know I'm here anytime you need someone to talk to and I don't judge."

Gracing me with a smile, she released my hands. "I know. Wanna bath together?" She winked suggestively.

"Nuh-uh. I'm sorry I don't swing that way." Our laughs were interrupted by knocks on the door, it was a hesitant one as if the person didn't want to but had to.

Thinking it was dean, I moved to answer it. A snarky reply readied in my mouth. She was shocked to see the ginger boy who pointed the way to the restaurant to her the day Anna and her friend embarrassed me.

"Oh hi."

He cleared his throat and poured out a carefully prepared speech which had me grinning. It was exactly what  i'd been wishing for.

"Sure, we'd like to join! Right Karen?" I looked back to a clueless Karen who nodded right away. "Yes, we will."

"Okay then, can I have your number then? I'll text you the necessary details."

As soon as he was gone, Kiran was all over me. "What did he say? What are we joining?"

"Calm down, babe. You'll know soon enough, trust me."

"But why not now?" She asked with a pout.

"It's a surprise." I shrugged.
