unlike synonyms, connotations are a lot more difficult to understand when you're writing.
connotations are the mood or feeling commonly associated with a word.
therefore, if you're not a native english speaker (or if you are), it's extremely hard to know the connotation of a word.
i personally wouldn't worry abt connotations too much, unless it's something like,,,,, extreme
for example:
a synonym for sad is despondent, but a lot of times, it doesn't fit quite right to replace sad with despondent.
if i was sad because my fish died, i wouldn't be able to say i was despondent because my fish died. why? despondent is used more when there is an extreme loss of courage or hope, so it would more appropriately be used to describe a general in the heat of battle who has lost half their troops.
connotations are rlly hard for native and non-native english speakers so this wasn't so much a rant as a little warning and i mean, they also don't rlly matter that much
