I almost Died.... Twice :')
(Don't think I ever posted this picture to my art book. It's the new channel banner I made a couple weeks ago.)
I'm back from camp! It's was pretty fun I'll have to admit, but then it was kinda weird and scary and gross.
Before I tell the story about how I almost died twice, let me tell you the pro and cons.
Pros:
- I made a new squad with about 7 girls in it, about 2 I already knew
- 2 other girls plus me from my squad made a secret hand language (Kinda fun lmao)
- I actually slept pretty well
- Went swimming in the pool
- My cabin had just smores and an ice cream party for the cleanest cabin on the girls side of camp
- Learned how to pee outside in nature if it was a survival trip and I had no supplies
- Food was pretty decent (But everyone in camp was screaming for Dirty cake so ehh)
- I got a free book :)
Cons:
- We pretty much had to get undressed in front of each other for showers ~^~
- There were spiders, everywhere
- I couldn't talk to any of you all week :0
- There was bugs in the pools. A bunch of bugs. (I literally sat there and watched a bettle fly into the water and I screamed "Don't do that you idiot!" And this little kid looked at me thinking I was talking to him and he swam away so fast just staring at me omg)
- My cabin couldn't go canoeing (I'll tell you all in a moment)
- My friends kept on farting and stinking up the cabin
- The cabin next door was super loud at night
- I met some really rude and selfish 8-12 year olds
- Some of my friends kept fighting over little things
- They had hamburgers. Eww...
- I almost fell from 35 feet up in the air :O (More on that too)
More Cons than Pros, but ehh. Now it's time for the parts I almost died at. :")
None of this is made up by the way. This is all 100% true. You couldn't even ask the girls from my cabin, if you find their social media.
Let's see. The canoes. We were hooking up the canoe trailer to the back of the van we were going to be riding in. That morning it was still kinda wet, from the Strom the night before, but our whole cabin was full of ready to adventure 12 and 13 year olds. We all grabbed our paddles and life jackets and headed to the van were we jumped in and buckled up. Our two cabin counselors also hopped in, and we were off onto the usually deserted tar road.
Now, we were about half way there when I was talking to my friends who I planned to canoe with. When suddenly, we heard a click.
And then screaming.
The van we were in was just your average normal pickup van, almost like the kind you would expect little kids to get kidnapped in, so there was 4 rows of seats plus the driver and passager seat. I was in the very front row, behind the passager and driver seats.
Soon everyone was screaming and turned around looking outside of the van expect the driver was was absolutely confused.
Can anyone guess what happened?
~
Yep, our freaking canoe trailer was speeding up behind us, unattached to the van we were in. I don't know about you, but we were screaming our heads off.
Not only were we paranoid and screaming, but the canoe trailer was chasing us like we were in a game of cat and mouse. Our van driver took one look out the rever mirror and put the petal to the metal. After about 20 seconds of us speeding up away from the run away canoes the canoes finally bumped into the road railings and stopped, falling over, almost into the 10-20 feet deep hill like ditch below us. After that the driver stopped the van and got out to make sure the canoes went damaged.
Everyone was freaking out and shivering in there jackets and pants. A couple minutes later our counselors called into some of the lead men of the camp to help. After about 10-20 minutes of them taking off the canoes and putting them back on, we're we on the road again heading back to camp with one of the males that helped as the driver. I swear, we all eyed balled those canoes like a hawk on the way back, but thankfully they didn't fall again.
Secondly, the 35-50 feet high ropes. Yeah, I almost died. Our cabin was going to the high ropes as a cabin activity. I was really excited to get up high in the air, considering I'm the adventurous type. After waiting about 20 minutes it was finally my turn. Yes, we had to wear a helmet and rock climbing gear, but oh my gosh, this was terrifying.
They had tire swings hanging by ropes that we could climb over in the air. By this point I had did a couple of ropes already, one more scarier than the last. By this point I thought I could do anything. Man, was I wrong.
My cabin counselor, Karly, told me that I would have to stay on one side of the tires so my gear didn't get tangled up in the tire ropes. It was so hard to get onto the first one, but eventually I made it, and I was on my way to the second one, still suprised yet scared that I got through the first tire.
"You'll have to go back, you got tangled up."
I looked up and sure enough, I was tangled.
"Great I thought, I'll have to start over" I thought.
In my attempt to get back across the tired to untangle myself, I came to Realize it would be harder than I thought. Well, I placed my right left into the tire and had my left leg in the tire I was just on. My legs were moving all over the place and eventually, I was in the air doing splits. About 3-4 minutes of absolute terror and announcing that I was going to let go, I finally make it back to the small wooden platform that was attached to the poles that kept the course up.
I'm glad to be back though, it feels weird holding my tablet in my hands again. XD
