{1} meeting for the first time
Emma's POV
I walk out of my friend Sophia's house, as she follows me.
"Come on Emma. You're such a goody-goody. Just come to this one party," she says, begging.
"Soph, I'm not going. I don't party, and I most certainly do not drink," I say.
"Just this one time please," she begs.
"Sophia, we're sophomores in high school. We have the rest of our lives to party," I say.
"What would I even tell my parents?" I ask.
"Just tell them you're staying at my house," she says.
"Please," she says again, "Em, it's no fun without you. You may be a goody-goody, but you make everything more fun."
I stay silent for a minute but then say, "Fine, but this is the only party I'm ever going to."
"Yay," she screams, tackling me with a hug.
•a few hours later•
We get to the party and see nothing but drunk, dancing teens and flashing lights. The music is way too loud to hear anything. I'm already regretting this.
"I'm gonna go find Dylan," Sophia screams over the music.
Dylan is Sophia's boyfriend, also known as the bane of my existence right now. I'm not saying I hate him. No way. He's one of my best friends. It's just, he's the whole reason we're here. Dylan's friend is throwing the party, and he invited us. And I knew as soon as we got here she would ditch me to find him.
"Okay," I say, as she skips off to find him.
And now I'm alone at a party I never even wanted to go to. Alone in a sea of people who I don't know, who don't know me, and who I don't intend on meeting.
I walk up the stairs where a few people are talking, where it's quiet for a change.
I go down the hall, turn a corner, and all of a sudden I'm knocked into by a muscular frame. Right as I'm about to hit the floor, an arm swoops around my waist, holding my weight, making sure I don't fall.
I look up to see two beautiful chocolate brown eyes with hints of gold in them.
I see the face of a boy who looks about my age, maybe a bit younger.
He stands me up and takes his arm off of my waist.
I hear him say something, but I'm too enchanted by his eyes to respond.
"I'm so sorry. Are you okay?" he says.
"I'm fine. And it definitely wasn't you, I'm such a klutz," I say, laughing.
"Make that two of us," he says, laughing as well.
God bless me, he sounds like an angel when he laughs.
"I'm Blake," he says, putting his hand out for me to shake.
God, his name just screams perfect.
"Emma," I say, shaking his hand.
"A beautiful name for a beautiful girl," he says.
Blake's POV
God damn, I knock into the hottest girl at this party.
"Thank you" she says, responding to my cheesy compliment.
"So where were you heading before we bumped into each other?" I ask.
"Trying to get away from that loud ass music, so I can actually hear my thoughts" she says.
I laugh and say, "Yea, it is pretty obnoxious. Not a party person?"
"No, not really. My friend begged me to come here, but then runs off to look for her boyfriend," she says.
"I'm not much of a party person either. My friend made me come, because he says I'm too much of a goody-goody," I tell her.
"That's exactly what my friend said to me," she says, shocked.
"So why aren't you here with your boyfriend?" I ask, trying to find out if she has a boyfriend.
She bites her lip and looks down.
"I don't have a boyfriend," she says.
"What about you? Are you here with your girlfriend?" she asks, looking back up at me.
"No, I don't have a girlfriend," I say.
We talk for about twenty more minutes. We talk about pretty much everything.
I find out she's one of five, with three brothers, her favorite singer is Ariana Grande, she has a pomski named Monkey, and her favorite show is Pretty Little Liars.
After talking for a while I decide to ask her, "Do you want to go dance?"
"Sure," she says.
I lead her downstairs and to the dance floor, where dozens of people are dancing.
I recognize the song playing; it's It Ain't Me by Kygo and Selena Gomez.
"I love this song," she says over the music.
"Me too," I say.
We dance to the song. About half way into it I take her hands in mine and dance with her, singing along to the song. She looks deep into my eyes as she sings. She has a beautiful voice. She winks at me near the ending of the song.
We keep dancing for a while and a slow song comes on, Photograph by Ed Sheeran.
She looks uneasy. I take ahold of her waist and pull her close to me. She rests her head on my shoulder and holds one of my hands as the other one is around my neck.
She looks up at me, and I look at her, listening closely to the music.
When I'm away, I will remember how you kissed me
Under the lamppost back on Sixth street
Hearing you whisper through the phone,
"Wait for me to come home."
I dip my head down to hers and kiss her softly. She kisses back. After a few seconds we pull away, and we smile at each other.
She feels her phone vibrate and takes it out.
"Shit, it's 12:30. My friend called me like ten times. I have to go," she says.
"Thank you for tonight Blake," she says.
She hugs me and turns around to walk through a crowd of people.
"Emma, wait I never got your," I start as I chase her through the crowd, but she turns a corner, and I lose her.
"Number," I sigh.
