A New Spark

When I awoke, I saw that I was in the diner. Was it all a dream? I usually take naps here since there is really no point for me to leave and come back an hour later. I sat up with great struggle and felt a hand on my shoulder. I jumped which made my whole body hurt, especially my head.

"You okay? You took a hard blow to the head. I'm surprised you're up so soon. Cas said you'd be out for a couple of hours at least." It was Sam. I didn't know why, but I seemed content with him sitting next to me.

"Uh, yea. Guess I could be better, though. Answer some questions for me, will you?"

"Shoot."

"One: How long have I been out exactly? Two: What happened in the alley? And Three: Why did you and your brother do that?"

"Ok, um, you've been out about half an hour. John slapped you and you fell, causing you to black out. Dean and I stopped him before he could do anything else to hurt you. We don't like seeing guys hurt girls. I, especially, did not like seeing you get hurt."

I began to blush, so I turned around and looked out the window. I was curious what time it was so I looked at the town center clock. 4:45 it read. People would start coming in about five to beat the Friday night dinner crowd., "Shit!" I tried to shove Sam out of the way so I could change into the spare outfit I kept in the back and wait tables tonight, but it was no use.

"And where do you think you're going?" He was actually laughing at me. His teeth were perfectly straight and an angelic white. It was perfect.

"Are you stupid or what? I gotta wait tables in fifteen minutes. Get out of my way so I can change!" I tried hard to punch him on the arm, but his muscular arm just made my knuckles crack.

"Not in the condition you're in, Princess. Dean and Cas are taking care of that. You're going to sit with me and laugh." Again, he smiled that perfect smile. I would've given anything to stop time and just stare.

"Can I at least go change? I don't think I look very inviting in these clothes," I looked down at my once bright blue tee and no longer white high tops.

"Hmm, I don't see why not," He grabbed my hand and started to scoot out of the booth seat. Our eyes met as he helped me get out. I had never experienced something like this before, not even with John.

After a few moments, I decided to break up the stare by shifting my eyes to the door that led to the supply closet where my clothes were, "My stuff is right through that door." I tried to stand up, but my body rebelled and made me fall onto the floor. Thank God Sam was there to pick me up. Otherwise, people would have to walk around me. That would surely attract customers.

Sam practically carried me to the supply closet. It took me forever to change but I finally managed to put on the clean clothes. When I walked out, Dean and Cas ran over and started asking me a million questions, "Dylan, what the hell is a triple meat stacker with all the 'fixins'"

"Dylan, what is an 'Arnold Palmer'? Also, why does everyone want me to come back?" Castiel cracked me up.

"Dean, 'fixins' means the person wants everything on the burger. Cas, an 'Arnold Palmer' is half lemonade and half sweet tea and when people say, 'come back', they mean 'Comeback sauce'."

They both nodded and went back to serving. It was nice to prop my feet up for a change. Sam and I both laughed our asses off watching the other two "federal agents" wait tables. I couldn't remember the last time I laughed this hard. I rarely laughed with John and my parents scared me too much to actually even smile. I started thinking back to earlier that afternoon. I heard gun shots. Maybe I should have added "Who shot who?" to the list of questions I asked Sam earlier. I sat up and quickly asked him the question, "Who shot who?" He gave me a very perplexed look indicating he had no idea what I was talking about.

"Dylan, what are you talking about?" He began to smile that perfect smile and laugh that perfect laugh.

"Back in the alley. Earlier this afternoon. I heard someone shoot. Who was it and what happened after that?"

"Oh um, you probably wouldn't believe me." He looked down which made his long brown hair cover up his twinkling hazel eyes. I could tell that once again he was smiling. He tried to pull me back down to his shoulder but I wasn't having it.

"Sam, I'm going to ask one more time. Who shot who?" Our eyes connected once again but the spark wasn't there this time. I'm pretty sure people began to stare. I didn't care though. I wanted to know about earlier.

"Ok. But don't get pissed. As Dean and I were trying to stop John, he pulled a gun on us. We pulled ours out. Instead of pointing his at us, he pointed it at you. I couldn't imagine seeing you dead, even though I had just met you, so I may or may not have pulled the trigger. Please don't be mad. Technically, I saved your life." He put his hands up like he was innocent and clean.

I didn't know who to be furious at: John, Sam, or both. John was about to kill me. Sam killed John, "So what you're saying is John tried to kill me because I refused to listen to him whine, and you stopped him from doing that by killing him. What was Dean's reaction?"

"Well, Dean was going to do the same thing. He was shocked because I normally don't pull the trigger, he does." He looked me in the eyes and gave me the puppy eyes. Damn, his pouty look was amazing. I felt that feeling in my stomach again. I don't love people. Hell, it's typically the other way around. I never truly loved John; not even my parents made me feel love. I decided to play along with my emotions. I do it all the time and it's quite priceless, the reactions I get.

"Then I guess I need to thank you," With what little strength I had, I reached up and gave him a kiss on the cheek. I saw Dean give Sam some thumbs up and Cas give him a smile. I leaned back into his shoulder and watched Dean and Cas make fools of themselves. It felt good to laugh. I hadn't done it in so long.

After hanging out in the diner and watching Dean and Castiel destroy the place with Sam, we all decided to call it a night. I could barely walk and Sam kidnapped me and made me stay with them. Sam slept on the couch while I took over his bed. I constantly told him that I was perfectly fine with sleeping on the couch but he wouldn't have it. It was a restless night due to the immense pain and my mind replaying the alley fiasco over and over.
