Echo the Shape Shifter
Her opponent hesitated and said back, "Well, that's reassuring." She heard the smile on her face as she said that. "But I do want to know what this 'horrible death' thing is." Luna smirked as she heard the obvious sarcasm dripping behind the words, giving them a different meaning.
She heard a second voice intertwined in the echoes of the cavern, "Echo, be nice!"
"So your name is Echo, huh?" Luna said. She was trying to learn as much about this person before she gave anything away about herself.
"Yeah, that's my name, now would your majesty grace us with yours?"
Luna liked this girl's attitude, she liked her snap back comments.
"No." Luna smiled as she heard a groan of exasperation come from the second person.
"Can you two STOP already?" He asked, exasperated. "And Echo, can you put some light in here?"
As soon as the words were out of his mouth, light jumped out from the corner, surrounding the trio in a warm, welcoming glow. Luna looked up and saw a gorgeous bird on fire, flaming across what she thought was the roof. Without thinking, she knew that this was a phoenix and that something was off about it.
"You're not actually a phoenix." She said straightforward, it was not a question.
The bird nodded, even through the feathers she saw the hesitation behind it. The phoenix gave a quick glance at the powerless human. The human stood up and started to search for something around them. He kept his distance from Luna though. Finally, he bent down and picked up a piece of wood.
The man reached up to the bird and handed her the torch, the bird tapped it with her beak, lighting it on fire creating an eerie glow around the room, flickering up the tall, rounded walls. The phoenix glided to the ground and as soon as her feet touched the ground, there was a little Pop, and Luna was blinded for a fraction of a second.
