chapter four - polarize
I bolted up with a shout, my breathing ragged as i looked around my surroundings. "Hey, calm down bud, you're okay."
I felt a gentle hand on my shoulder, causing me to turn with a gasp as i saw Gabriel watching me calmly. "You had a bad dream, thats all.." He explained as i nodded in agreement. "Your meds will make you feel better soon, In the meantime, watch some tv. I'll see you later." He smiled as he ruffled my hair playfully before he grabbed the empty plate next to the night stand, leaving me alone in my thoughts.
I sat upright in bed as i breathed slowly, taking a good look at my room again before laying back down under my sheets. I took my phone out from my pillow and scrolled through the apps and data, not really knowing what else to do.
I glanced at the stand next to me and frowned, sitting up slightly as i realized the slip of paper from before was gone. I placed my phone down as i took a better look at the table, darting my eyes across all the small items upon it.
But Deans number was gone, the only thing there was a business card with scribbles on it, the medication, and a water bottle.
I knitted my eyebrows together in confusion as i ran my hand across the table, sending everything across and onto the floor. "No, No where is it!?" I yelled as i scampered off my feet. "I lost it!" I proclaimed as i opened the empty drawer below it.
Nothing.
I franticly tried to remember the number, shutting my eyes tightly as i hit my head over and over again. "Come on Come on.." I muttered as i felt my eyes water slightly. "I forgot it.." I sighed out as i slowly lowered my hands to my sides, a sudden wave of sadness spilling inside of me.
I looked down at all the scattered things on the floor, mesmerized by the way time almost slowed down. I watched as the water flowed out of the plastic container slowly, making the carpet damp and a shade darker than it normal is.
I turned on my heel and climbed into bed, the blankets slowly forming around me with warmth as i snugged deeper into the mattress. "Gabriel.." I whispered quietly to myself as i closed my eyes. "Gabriel please come home." I held a tight grip on my pillow as i felt the tears slip past my face.
"Gabriel, come home." I breathed out as i stared at the water bottle. "Please-" i was cut off by the sounds of knocking at my door.
I peaked above my covers, my door open ajar, the knocking continuing louder. I threw my legs off the bed and slowly got up, the floorboards creaking beneath me as i walked into the hallway.
Its a murder castiel
I turned a corner and went into the kitchen, grabbing one of the many knifes on a rack, keeping it steady in my grip as i walked into the connected living room. My breath shuttered as i saw the blurry figure though the window of my door.
Killer, their a killer
I slowly walked up to the door and slipped my hand across the knob, my fingers shaking at the touch.
Don't do it
I gulped loudly as i wrapped my hand a round the metal knob, turning it with a squeak as i opened the door slightly, placing the knife behind my back with a smile. "Hello, is this the home of Castiel?" They asked nicely with a warm smile.
"D-Dean?" My voice flattened as saw him standing there with a wallet in hand. "You left this at the cafe last night.. Sorry i didn't bring it sooner." He gleamed as he held it out to me.
My body shook as i took the wallet, the knife behind my back tumbling out of my hands and onto the floor. I gasped and kicked it behind the door as Dean stared at me with a brow raised. "What was that?" "Nothing!"
I bit my lip as he raised his head with slow nod, glancing around as he balanced on his heals. "So! I better get going.. It was nice seeing you again." He said calmly as he turned to walk away, but i grabbed his sleeve quickly. "I um.. Can you stay? For a while?" I asked sheepishly as i he turned back around to me, his green eyes against mine. "Sure.. I guess?" He chuckled softly as he took a step into my home.
I smiled and shut the door behind him, careful to lock it as i followed. "Are you thirsty? We have soda and beer." I patted my jeans nervously as he glanced around the living room. "Sure, sodas fine." He smiled kindly in response.
I quickly grabbed a soda can from the fridge and turned around to see my guest wasn't there. "Dean?" I called out as i picked the rim of the can. "Over here." I heard him announce from the inner hallway.
I swiftly walked into the hallway and saw Max right behind me. I patted her head as she followed me down the path. "Dean?" I called again as i turned the corner to my room, Max making her way into it before me, her tail wagging.
I pushed open the creaky door and saw Dean standing near my bed, his eyes trailing up the many polaroids against my wall.
I walked over to him and gave him the soda, his eyes glancing at my hand for a second before going back to the wall. "I have a polaroid my dad gave me, i take pictures if things i find beautiful or interesting." I smiled as i trailed my eyes across the rows of film.
"Do you like taking pictures?" He hummed as i shifted my weight in reply. "Yes, it takes my mind off things." I felt my lips twitch slightly as i noticed deans eyes upon me, bringing my glance to his, blue meeting green.
The color was perfect.
"Can i take a picture of you?" He asked smiling wildly as i laughed into my hand. "Go ahead." I replied as i pointed at the camera hanging next to the photos. Dean reached over and grabbed the small black polaroid, bringing it to his eye carefully, as his slender hands rested on the buttons and coils.
I turned to the camera and smiled slightly as i heard the click, the flash covering my vision with white flakes. I blinked a few times and walked over to Dean as the film slowly rolled out of the canister and into his hand as he pulled it out tenderly, waving it around.
"Thats a keeper." He laughed as he placed the picture on the window seal, the light surrounding it as it developed ever so slowly.
I always loved polaroids.
