Doctor:crap, this isn't good

Jason:what's wrong?!

*Jason asked feeling dread, with Marinette having a similar feeling. The doctor grabbed a scalpel and looked at Marinette with pity*

Doctor:the baby is not in a head-down position, we need to make an emergency C-section. And the anesthesiologist is on another birth, she'll have to do this without any medication

Jason:ok, ok, marinette look at me you can do this, just keep looking at me

*Jason said trying his best to comfort his crying wife, Marinette grabbed Jason's hands with both of hers and gave a very tired smile*

Marinette:whatever happens, I want the baby's health to come before mine

Jason: marinette?

*Marinette took a sharp breath as the doctor started made a deeper incisions through the tissues and separate the muscles*

Marinette:Jason I love you

*Marinette said softly, it brought the fear of God inside Jason as he held her hand tighter*

Jason:don't say that, don't you dare say that, I know what your trying to do and I don't want to hear it

*Jason was so into it that he didn't realize he started crying a little. Marinette shot him a warm smile, well as best as she could giving she was feeling the blade cut her up, she fought to control her screaming*

Marinette:doing what? I just want you to know that I love you, that this 9 months has been the best of my life, and I wouldn't trade them for the world....

Doctor:ok deep breath I've reached the uterus wall. This is where it really starts to hurt

*Marinette did as she was told, the experience was utter torture and she couldn't help but let a yell escape, it took her a bit to control herself as she got back at what she was doing. She freed her hand from Jason and raised it, rubbing her hand on his cheek, cleaning the tears with her thumb, and giving him a very tired smile*

Marinette:I mean it Jayjay, the best of my life. You are gonna be an amazing father I just know it

Jason:I...I love you too, I love you so so much, you changed my life completely for the better, and you'll be the best mom in the world without a doubt. Because you will live through this now just breath and follow the doctor's instructions

*Jason said as firmly as he could but he was failing, his voice cracked, he was sniffling, he was completely and utterly terrified*

Scene change

*At the end both of them heard a second baby crying and Jason felt as if a wave of relief hit him as he smiled seeing the nurse holding the baby*

Nurse:it's a healthy girl.

Jason:you heard that pixie? Marin made it

*Jason said with a smile as he looked at marinette, that smile quickly vanished from his face, Marinette was becoming more and more pale as he eyelids started to close*

Doctor:i was afraid of this, the pain was too much, and she lost a lot of blood. She's going into shock. nurse, Get Mr. Todd out off here, we need to act fast

*Jason wanted to stay, he didn't want to let go of her hand, but he knew if he stayed he'll just risk her life even more. So with a very heavy heart he let go and walked away with the nurse*

Scene change hours before

*The waiting room was packed by all of Marinette's family and friend when the door crashed opened, jagged was out of breath as he looked around*

Jagged:did I make it?!

Sabine:yes. There's still in the delivery room. Come on and wait

*Jagged penny and Luka all sat down as they waited for hours, waiting for an update. The door opened again, and they all saw Jason walk out of it. Sabine and Penny were the first one to get up*

Sabine:are the babies ok?!

Penny: how's marinette?!

*Both mothers asked as Jason managed to pull a small smile on his face*

Jason:the babies are fine, they're named Marin Leia Todd dupain Cheng, and Thomas luke Todd dupain Cheng respectively.

Penny:and Marinette?

*Jason's smile disappeared as he sat down, he held his hands so tight that his knuckles were turning white. He didn't meet anyone's gaze, because if he did he would explode on those responsible*

Jason: Marinette... Marinette is currently in critical but stable condition. The stress off most of the baby showers made her give birth early, and she had to take an emergency C-section, she...she lost a lot of blood. Marinette is in a coma

*Hearing those words sucked out any joy from the room as some people sat down, Sabine started crying a little, blaming herself. Jason was also blaming her since she's the one that started the unnecessary extra baby shower.*

Present

Marinette:we can laugh about it now, but back then, everyone was pretty much blaming each other, especially my mother.

Kori:you poor thing. I'm so sorry you had to go through that

*Marinette waved her hand dismissively, she raised her shirt enough to show the batfamily something, her stretch marks and C-section scar. She had a soft smile looking at her two children playing with there cousin*

Marinette:it was completely worth it, I was blessed with two bundles of joy that I love to death, beside now me and Jason match we both have scars on our bodies

*Marinette said with a soft giggle winking at her husband, Jason had a crooked smile looking back at her*

Jason:alright, so after I let that news Bomb explode I looked at jagged

Back to the past

*Jason took a deep calming breath and looked up at jagged*

Jason:she told me to tell you, that you are not to blame. You're baby shower was the one she actually enjoyed

Jagged:thanks mate, did the doctors say anything else?

Jason: just that marinette won't wake up till a few days. But still none of this would've have happened, if SOMEONE didn't start the baby shower do over

*Jason said in a low growl looking at Sabine, normally Jason would be scared of her. But right now? With his wife in critical condition. He would take on darkside without fear. Sabine for her part had the decency to look down ashame, even cry a little. Jason felt a hand on his shoulder, he looked and it was Roy*

Roy:come on mate, let's go take a walk to calm down. Then we can go see your kids yeah?

Jason:fine, the kids are being cleaned we won't be allowed to see them for another hour

*Jason muttered, it was a rare sight for Jason's friends. The once badass that didn't fear death, now? He just looked so hopeless, which wasn't far from the truth. Jason felt completely useless, he couldn't do anything to help and it was absolutely killing him. He didn't even noticed him and Roy made it out of the hospital and into a back alley*

Roy: alright, here's a good a place as any, just don't mess up the face, that's my money maker

Jason:Roy what are you talking about?

*Jason said looking around at where his best friend took him, Roy didn't wait tough, he pushed Jason*

Jason:dude, what the hell?!

Roy:come on, punch me, you need to blow off some steam. If you don't, you'll end up hitting someone in there. Better you do it to me who can take a bit then the mother of your wife

*Roy said with a shrug, there's a reason there best friends. They knew each other better then most, and he was right, Jason was ready to slap Sabine if she got close to him. He let a low growl, and started walking away

Jason:I don't have time for this, I'm goin back in to wait for the doctor to tell me

Roy: that your wife is a beach?

*Jason stopped walking, since Roy didn't say beach, oh no. He said a word that rhymes with beach in the English language. Roy grinned since he knew what buttons to pushed, what very dangerous buttons to push*

Roy:hey no judgement, but man I could tell she enjoys a good sausage from a mile away, maybe while you sleep I'll pay her a visit and...

*Roy fell against the garbage cans, he looked up and saw a furious Jason on top of him, he smirked and cracked his neck*

Roy:god your so easy, just like your wife

*Jason and Roy spend 45 minutes with Roy being Jason's punching bag. After that they both walk back inside, Roy with a slight limp on his step*

Jason:.....thanks

Roy;what are friends for. But seriously you owe a week of free meals from Alfred for this

*Roy said with a grin, his teeth still dirty with blood. Jason nodded and walked back with the group. He sat down next to Artemis who was busy talking to her future boyfriend Luka*

Back to the present

Barbara; Wait wait wait, Artemis is dating a man?! Mrs. I hate mankind, former villain of Wonder woman, is dating a freaking man?!

Jason; what can I say? Pretty boy is good with the words. She loves his music

Marinette:and they also make sweet music in the bedroom from what I heard

*Marinette said with a giggle as Barbara gasped and slapped Marinette's arm playfully. Like everyone else, man, woman, alien, child. We all love the gossip. And Barbara was no different*

Jason:so anyway, week 40 and 3 days, were Marinette in a coma, and goin in and out of surgery, since having to give birth to twins harmed her body more then we realized
