interview #14 @The_Padgenator

1 what inspired you to write?

I suppose it was a mix of things that got me to write.. a great person in my life mixed with a period where that wasn't easy to come by. I had always been 'creative' but never was pointed in the direction until around 3 years ago. Since then, I've been obsessed. It now is a constant part of me, as clichéd as that sounds.

2 what's a good piece of advice for a newcomer?

For those who are new to writing, I like to give one little piece of advice, that being that there always is a right way to write, but it's very uncommon to find a wrong way to write. Writing is emotions expressed through words that our brains comprehend. That's pretty much it. The writing 'skills' and techniques come through practice and care, but the actual impact comes from you!

3 what's the best way to handle a bully?

This is something that I and many others have dealt with/deal with currently. The first thing to note is that there is always SOMEONE to confide in if it genuinely affects to the point where you're struggling to handle it. People are there to help and care for you. All that is needed is your voice. But if it's something not involving cyberbullying or physical problems, then reactions are the best thing to use. If a bully insults you or does something that would normally upset you, just laugh in their face; completely get rid of the sting out of the words. That's the only power they have over you. Just take it away with a scoff and move on!

4 what's a song you enjoy? Who is the artist?

Wow I'm a weird guy when it comes to music! I do enjoy alternative rock and really like The Score, but I also enjoy rap. Songs that give you a feeling and help you daydream or imagine a really cool action scene in your head. I especially like 'Born For This' by The Score, as it legitimately sounds like a fantasy movie soundtrack in all the right ways

5 Are you still surprised when you get a new vote, follow or comment?

Every single time. I know I've recently joined and aren't at the point where it's common, it makes me smile every time I see the notification. Feedback always is appreciated and it makes me feel like I've accomplished something when somebody likes it!

6 what's your favorite holiday and why?

To be honest, I'm not actually used to celebrating many holidays at all. The only big one is Christmas, making it my favourite! Having the family actually focus on each other is always nice and I always put 100% into my Christmas cards! It's a way to show how I care for them!

 7 what's your favorite movie?

That is genuinely a question I can't answer. Don't get me wrong there are awesome movies out there, but I could not for the life of me pick out one! I do enjoy psychological films and also fantasy/superhero films. So, for now, I'd say the best recent film is Joker!

8 what's your favorite snack?

I absolutely love Pringles. People who prefer Doritos have warped taste buds! Crisps are nice in general.

9 if you could gain advice from your favorite author, who would you choose and what would you ask?

Weirdly, I'm not much of a reader, as I'm not known to have the best attention span! But I have read Terry Pratchett, and I've always wanted to ask him about how he doubted himself- how so many doubt themselves. "How do you get past those days where holding a pen feels alien to you?"

10 if you could hang out with your favorite celeb for a day, who would you choose and what would you do?

Honestly I would love to hang out with Ricky Gervais. His comedy and work has kept me amused and, at the same time, thoughtful to how to treat the world around you. I would give anything to sit in a room with him and talk philosophy for HOURS!

11 what's your schedule regarding your writing?

Strangely, there isn't one. It is probably due to the unpredictable events happening around the world but I write when I'm happy to do so, as long as I don't leave things too long. Never pick up a pen or begin to type if you do not want to. Writing should be an escape; a vice. It shouldn't be a chore.

Request time

The only fully published piece I have at the moment is a short called "Family Ties", a series of entries from the point of view of a girl who deals with a recurring nightmare. I mention this because it is... the beginning. It is what I'm starting with. It hits close to home with anyone who sees behind the thin veil presented with it. It's my first work- rather rough but a perfect example of what I like to do.Hopefully you like what you see...
