interview 10 @toriatobin
1 what's your favorite snack?
I have a major sweet tooth, so I've had to get creative with what I keep in the pantry. I adore BarkTHINS - dark chocolate, almond, and sea salt - honestly, these are so addictive. I enjoy them all day, every day it feels like. They go with coffee, tea, and most importantly, red wine.
2 what's your favorite thing about Wattpad?
Originally it was the community that I found through the forums, but with those gone, I have to say my favourite thing is how Wattpad community members started to create their own sub-communities since then. I've met some fantastic authors and readers, and I've only been on the platform since May 2020. I love how encouraging most people are here!
3 who is your favorite author?
This can fluctuate based on my mood, or what phase of life I'm in. Generally speaking, I adore Hanya Yanagihara - especially her book A Little Life, I must have read it over a dozen times, and I never get sick of it. I also return to the classics over and over. I am never disappointed in revisiting Jane Austen, or the Bronte works.
4 what's a song you enjoy? Who is the artist?
This is a hard one. I love all kinds of music. I'm currently obsessed with Dean Lewis and his song Be Alright. But I also love his song A Place We Knew.
5 if you could hang out with your favorite celeb for a day, who would you choose and what would you do ?
Emma Watson. It wouldn't even matter what we did, but I would absolutely pick her brain on relevant interesting reads for our generation of women.
6 what's your schedule regarding your writing?
I write whenever I have the chance. I'm not so strict with myself, since I work full time as well, and have an active social life. (Well, as active as it can be, safely, right now)
7 what's your favorite movie?
this is something that changes, especially with newer movies, but I can watch Some Like It Hot on loop, along with Breakfast Club, and Breakfast at Tiffany's.
8 what's your favorite holiday and why?
Canada Day is probably my favourite holiday. Every year, we spend it at my summer house surrounded by my closest friends and their families. I'm fortunate enough to be best friends with the children of my parents' best friends and we all spend the summers together on the same island. Fireworks, s'mores, and the best of friends. What's not to love?
9 what's the best way to handle a bully?
Great question. First, depending on the situation, my recommendation is to walk away. Bullies often want validation through engagement, or by forcing a response.
If you can't walk away, try a dismissive response, one that doesn't let them see how they affect you. It's so hard, but it's an effective tool. Try to foster an environment of safety between you and your friends, decide together that you'll be there for one another.
If it's at a point where it's no longer avoidable, or where you truly feel threatened, scared, or anything beyond uncomfortable, then I always say turn to a trusted adult.
10 what inspired you to write?
I've always been a storyteller and I love to entertain people. My dad was the same. He used to tell the most fantastic stories when I was younger. I've been putting pen to paper since I was a teenager, but only recently had the courage to share my work with the world.
11 what's your favorite story?
On Wattpad? There are so many that I love... but I'd have to say Unintended Consequences by EIM1993 and Lara by NoelleThorne. These are two of the first stories I read from start to finish on the platform, and they're two fantastic authors.

My first completed novel: First There Was You Anyone looking for a turbulent, coming of age romance should consider checking out my story. It's a story of vulnerability, love, and heartbreak. Of discovering who you are, who you want to be, and how far you'll go for love. If you like nuanced character-driven stories, then this one is for you!
