CLOUDS

The first boarding call is a mere murmur in the background as Daniella is overwhelmed by the laughing child with the teddy bear. "Who is this child and where the hell did she get that teddy bear? My teddy bear? THAT'S MY TEDDY BEAR!" she silently laments.

"This child gives me the creeps. She makes me uncomfortable. How did she even manage to get that through security? Doesn't that violate all of the protocols???? Is someone going to tell her that she's going to have to stuff it during the flight or should I?"

Daniella is relishing over her problem with a child that has no idea that she exists. At the same time, she is also horrified at the fact that she is picking an imaginary fight with a tiny little child. Really? Is it getting that bad? Is she beginning to go insane and stoop so low already? The intercom interrupts her thoughts:

"This is a final boarding call for passenger Daniella Spencer booked on flight 77X. Please proceed to Gate 3 immediately. The final checks are being completed and the captain will order for the doors of the aircraft to close in approximately five minutes time. I repeat. This is the final boarding call for Daniella Spencer. Thank you."

"Again? Again? I literally just sat back down. Are you kidding me?" She openly groans for everyone to hear, including the gate agents who are now giving her a death glare. They must have deduced that it was her.

"I could like... run like right now and deal with the loop when I get tired... and then like fall asleep. On the other hand, I would like control over my body this time around because whatever the heck that was... that was just slimy and creepy... and just flat out wrong. If you're going to mess with me, at least respect my boundaries, Universe! Do you hear me? Do your worst!"

Once on the plane, Daniella impatiently holds out her phone, opens the message app, and waits for the message to arrive while tapping her foot.

Luca

all set? got everything? your boarding pass? your chargers? your socks?

Daniella takes a deep breath. "Don't snap. He doesn't know. Just take a deep breath."

Daniella

yep! see you soon! love you babe!

She quickly turns her phone off. "Breathe. Just... focusing on breathing. Whatever happens, will happen... right?"

The Stewardess, yes that same Stewardess, approaches Daniella. "Excuse me Miss... Spencer?"

"Yes?" Daniella verbally responds while cursing inwardly.

"It appears that we have overbooked your seat."

"Right! Huh, I mean... Oh. Not again." Daniella thinks to herself.

A giant teddy bear hops out from behind The Stewardess and gets in Daniella's face, instantly scaring her.

"Sweetheart, don't do that!" scolds The Stewardess.

"Sweetheart" shows her face, revealing to be the child from earlier.

"You've gotta be f**king kidding me. The teddy bear thief! If only I was 5 years old... if only, I could just smack that teddy bear out of hands and wipe that creepy smile away..." Daniella thinks to herself as she tries her utmost best to maintain an external polite, understanding, and patient smile.

"Ah." is the only thing that Daniella makes out.

"As an apology for the inconvenience, we would like to upgrade you to Business Class." continues The Stewardess.

"I don't mind at all," answers Daniella. "Anything to help!"

She gets up and makes space for "Sweetheart" who throws herself into Daniella's former spot. The child places the bear in the seat next to her and The Stewardess buckles them in.

Daniella silently follows the Stewardess into the Business Class cabin, which once again appears heavenly. "I suppose it can't hurt to enjoy this as much as I can right? After all, who knows? It could be the last time I do this... or not." she silently shrugs.

The Stewardess once again offers to take Daniella's belongings and place them in the overhead compartment. Of course, this is the first time that The Stewardess is experiencing this interaction and a second time for Daniella, who has a feeling that she should start keeping track of these things...

"Would you like a glass of champagne before takeoff?"

Daniella has a nasty, out of body experience, similar to that of an astral projection, at the mention of champagne. The mental sensation that she feels eerily reminds her of the same reaction she has to the scent of vodka after she blacked out once in college.

"Ummm...I-uh... Alcohol really isn't my thing... I'm sorry-"

"Oh don't apologize at all! I should be the one who apologizes." The Stewardess warmly exclaims. "We have plenty of non-alcoholic options!"

"Oh! Great! Could I get something with lots and lots of caffeine in it?"

The Stewardess thinks for a moment. "I could whip you up an Arnold Palmer."

Daniella, for the first time since the rewind, genuinely smiles. "That would be great. Thank you so much. I mean it."

The flight attendant smiles and walks away. As Daniella settles into her seat, she notices a lean, yummy man in an expensive bespoke suit that eerily looks too familiar. He quickly places his carry-on into the overhead compartment near her own and settles next to Daniella.

"Looks like it'll be you and me for the next few hours, huh?" says the yummy man.

"Looks like it." Daniella warmly answers.

He brings out his hand. "I'm Luke."

Daniella, maintaining control of her face, continues to smile and shake his hand. "Daniella. Nice to meet you."

"You too."

They shake hands.

The Stewardess comes back with Daniella's Arnold Palmer, accompanied by a warm wet towel for both her and Luke.

"And what would you like, sir?"

Luke looks at Daniella's drink. "I'll have whatever she's having."

"Would you both like another one after we take off?" asks The Stewardess.

"Keep them coming." replies Daniella. Something clicks as she watches The Stewardess walk away and her eyes slightly widen. It's The Barista... but not him.... but it also is, if that makes any sense to Daniella.

"Are you alright?" asks Luke, who interrupts her silent realization.

Daniella nervously nods as she has her drink. "Yeah... flying hasn't really been my thing lately."

"I can relate," he answers as The Stewardess gives him an Arnold Palmer. He thanks The Stewardess, who smiles at the both of them and walks away.

"I prefer to stay grounded."

Daniella is puzzled by his words as it reminds her of her encounter with him as The Barista. She decides to try something.

"Sounds like you're into yoga."

"Is it that obvious?" he asks her. Luke pauses looking puzzled. "Hmmm..."

"What gives it away?" he asks Daniella with a childish smile.

"Just something... something about the way you look and carry yourself... That's all... You look very relaxed... There is a very peaceful aura around you..." Daniella answers in the most evasive manner causing Luke to stare at her. He squints his eyes for what seems like a century and simply shakes his head.

"What? What is it?" she asks.

"Nothing... Your vibes... I mean there's just something about you as well... but I can't quite put my finger on it... Do you ever get... deja-vus?"

"All. The. Time!" Daniella exclaims.

"I just... I don't know... This just feels... familiar. I feel like I know you from somewhere... Have we met before?" Luke genuinely looks intrigued.

"Maybe we crossed paths at the airport earlier..." Daniella suggests to him.

"Maybe... but no, it's not it! I feel like I know you from somewhere" As Luke insists, Daniella wonders if she should tell him about her surreal days so far but she decides to keep her crazy adventures to herself for the time being. It is a 5-hour flight after all and there will be plenty of opportunities to drop that bombshell on Mr. Yoga. So with that in mind, she takes the road most traveled and embraces one of the most cliche conclusions.

"Perhaps we knew each other in a past life." Daniella hypothesizes.

"Maybe." wonders Luke.

Daniella seizes the opportunity to satisfy her growing curiosity. "If I'm not too forward, what do you do for a living Luke?"

"I'm the Founder and CEO of a small app that helps people soothe their mind while enjoying themselves at the same time... Are you familiar with RESET?"

"Get the F***K out!"

"Excuse me?"

"Are you kidding me, Luke?"

"I kid you not Daniella! We've been around for the past 2 years now... It comes with a lot of free features. You should try it sometimes." Luke says with a warm smile and a glowing face...

This unexpected bit of information from Luke confirmed Daniella's forming theory. Was she living in an alternative universe or reality? Or was she sleeping something dreaming this whole thing? Then again, how many times could one person dream a different version of the same thing? Only the universe knows!

As the plane takes off from the ground, Daniella looks at her window pensively.

"You've been staring at the clouds for the past 15 minutes... How does it look out there?" asks Luke.

"Just heavenly..." Daniella answers without looking at him.

"Are you a nervous flier?"

"Not until recently! Just something about today is overwhelming... but I can't explain it in words..."

"Care to elaborate?" he asks her as he leans closer to her.

As Daniella is about to explain her ordeal, something outside in the sky catches her attention.

"Did you see that Luke? The sky went from dark to just... perfectly clear." she tells him with a slight rise in her tone.

"That's really sudden." Luke remarks.

"You don't say." agrees Daniella as she tries to adjust how she places her feet. She feels her laces dangling loose out of her shoes. She reaches down to tie them bunny-ears style. As she finishes fastening her shoes, she feels the plane quickly drop and adjust itself. As her body follows the turbulent pattern, her head slams against the bottom of the screen in front of her, instantly knocking her out.

The iconic message bell wakes up Daniella... who is laying on her belly against what feels like... a bed?

Groggy and disoriented, Daniella shifts her body and notices that she is wrapped in thick bed sheets. Her bedsheets. Whipping the sheets off of her, Daniella jumps out of bed. Her bed. She looks around and realizes that her surroundings look eerily too familiar: it's her and Luca's bedroom. She checks herself out in their mirror: she's decked out in her college hoodie, flannel pajama bottoms, and bed hair.

"Luca?" She calls out. "Babe? Babe?"

She hears another "ping!" go off on her phone. She picks it up and checks the time: 6:11 am. She opens up her messages.

Luca

Boarding now!

Daniella notes that the message arrived two minutes ago... which means that she woke up at 6:09 am... Again.

Her fingers robotically reply to the message. Reading her own response, she gasps and throws the phone at her bed:

Daniella

all set? got everything? your boarding pass? your chargers? your socks?
