Villanous Quirk

// one thing that I didn't get with the Medusa quirk, is why people jumped into the Oh he has a villainous quirk and stuff and hated him for it, kids can be cruel but- they can also be understanding, loving creatures ♥️

Izuku doesn't like his quirk, he despises it.

For someone like him, something like a petrifying gaze isn't something he wants. Ever since he was little, he loved fantasy more than reality, reading every book he came across although it was hard to understand, usually, he had his mother read the words for him, nevertheless, getting back to the point, he loved reading fantasy, and of course, there's no fantasy book without a villain in it and of course, a hero to save they day.

Just before getting his quirk, he always imagined himself doing cool adventures, slaying down the monsters himself, he was birthed with snake features, dark green claws, scales and a tail, it treaded a bit on the monster category but he didn't mind, if it's only a snake quirk, he can think of a couple of ways to utilize it, which he will, he just didn't expect to share every single trait with a monster he's fantasized of murder several dozen times, Medusa. The only thing different is the snake for hair and Izuku still had legs!

He hated it! Practically whined and cried the first few days after finding out, a frozen, bird made into stone still in their living room, the creature got in and somehow, Izuku froze it with his quirk after just looking at it. Every single creature that got into their house, all of them turned into stone after a gaze by Izuku, furniture, his bed, the microwave the floor, for some reason, his kind mother is the only one unaffected, they thought it wouldn't work on humans, however they were proven wrong when the quirk specialist who came over turned into stone which did not help Izuku's growing hatred of his quirk, what is he doing wrong?! He's even worse than medusa! Atleast you have to make eye contact with her, with Izuku, all you had to do was make him look and you're dead! It even works on objects! He was forced to wear a blindfold just to make sure he didn't turn everything into stone.

Thankfully they found a way to reverse the effects due to testing Izuku's venoms which seem to hold the same effect as his gaze, after that, Izuku's been forced to eat chalky weird medicine which finally allowed him to look at people and things, although not for too long and of course, contact with the eyes will immediately cause them to turn into stone. Izuku has to eat one of it every day. It's not that bad, the taste could use some improvements but it's nothing he can't handle.

Still completely bummed out over the fact that he had to share a trait with a monster he hated from a book, Izuku is enrolled into daycare, his mother for some reason, believes that Izuku can make friends 'with the super cool quirk you have, Izuku!' It's not cool mom! It's scary and the only thing good about the situation is that he still has his soft fluffy hair instead of a bed of snakes!

"M-My name is Izuku... d-don't look at my eyes or you'll turn into stone!" He says, he was told he had to warn his new friends about it, instead from the jeers he thought he would get, he was instead met with starry gazes and even looks of admiration, which completely baffled him, he had a villainous quirk, why are they looking at him in such a way?

In lunch, someone, probably the leader of the toddlers walked up to him.

"Hey, is it true you can turn things into stone?" He asked, Izuku huffs, nodding, although he felt bad, he felt like the need to prove it, a butterfly that flutters close by, Izuku widens his eyes on it, letting the intent of turn it into stone over take him.

The butterfly, along with some behind it, turned into stone and he was met with an adoring gasp.

"My name is Katsuki! You can call me Kacchan though, everyone calls me that!" Izuku was still looking down, so all he can see is the hand outstretched to him, kind of dumbfounded, he held it and the blond shook his hand.

"I'm the person with the coolest quirk in the daycare, just saying! Yours is pretty cool but I think releasing explosions are better!" He boasts, Izuku agrees with him, releasing explosions sounds better than sharing your quirk with a monster, "Let's be friends and rule the daycare together! We'd be unstoppable!" Katsuki offers.

"...Is that fine? You know, I can turn you into stone."

"You seem like a nice person." A kid he doesn't know, who had large wings, said. What kind of logic is that?!

"W-What-"

"Come on, both of us have the coolest quirk in the daycare, of course we have to be friends, I'll introduce you to everyone!" He squeaks as Bakugou grabs his hand and barked at everyone to come close, soon enough everyone did and he introduced Izuku as someone like a person in power would when introducing his second in command.

"You see this pretty butterfly statue?! Izuku-kun was the one that did this!" Katsuki said proudly, holding up a butterfly turned into stone, it was a hundred percent intact, everyone gasped.

"Wow, he can make pretty hairpins with that!" A girl said.

"Or- Izuku-kun lets go find a bear, can you turn that into stone too?!" A kid asked, Izuku too overwhelmed by the kind of positive support his quirk is being given, sputters.

"U-Uh- I-I'm pretty sure I can-"

"Haha, let's have him stone Ms.Himura! She sucks!"

"Oi! Zuku's gonna be a hero with me, if you try to make him do anything bad I'll beat you up!" Katsuki growled, "right, Deku?" Izuku tilted his head.

"Deku?"

"It's another way to read your name! It means useless but- it sounds kinda cool, doesn't it? You don't have a nickname yet! Even Tsubachi has one! So from now on, you're Deku, okay?"

"O-Oh um... okay?" Izuku agrees, because he's still 100% unsure about everything.

"Since were friends now, tell me when anyone is trying to pick on you, I'll beat them up for you so you won't get in trouble!" Katsuki said, patting his head, Izuku squeaked, still keeping his gaze down.

He went home that day, confused, he didn't even talk to his mom, he just curled up into a ball in their living room, completely confused about everything he's ever thought he's known. He thought he'd be that weird kid with a villainous quirk- instead they thought he was cool?!

"Mom... they thought I was cool." He said it like he didn't believe, because he does not infact, believe it, Inko chuckles and say down next to him, pulling him into her lap.

"That's because you are cool."

"I don't... I don't get it." He murmurs, he hates his quirk, doesn't it make sense that everyone else will too? It's a villainous quirk, heroes in his stories don't have this kind of quirk, only villains do, so why does everyone like him? Does no one know?

"Izuku... not everyone will think the same way you do, don't listen to what you're thinking, it's alright to listen to what people have to say." His mother says sweetly, "thinking negative of your quirk... I think you're the only one who thinks you can't be a hero with a quirk like that." She coos.

Izuku doesn't respond, because he's fallen asleep.

The next day at daycare, Izuku was nervous, but like the same as yesterday, he was met with nothing but kindness and adoration, the Bakugou kid was still nice with him, dragging Izuku to wherever he wants, probably noticing that Izuku was going to be one of those shy kids.

"Don't you think my quirk is scary?" Izuku asks.

"You think you scare me? You can't even look me in the eye!" He laughs.

"...That's because you'll turn into stone."

"Still can't look at me in the eye, mum said that only brave people can do that. Why would I be scared of a cowardly Deku?" Katsuki says, patting his head, "your quirk is cool anyways- Wait, is someone telling you your quirk is scary?!" Bakugou screamed out loud.

"Eh? Who said that? Deku is really cute and shy you know?"

"Hey who's picking on Deku-chan? Show your face you meanie!"

"Oi Deku, point at the bastard who did it!"

"U-Um... I don't even know their face?"

"Oh right."

Izuku still doesn't understand that much, over why they seem to like him so much for this quirk who makes him a villain, he's always thought that people would hate him for his quirk, to be met with the exact opposite... his little kid brain can't process it, bad = bad and good = good! Bad can't equal good- so why are they being so nice to him?!

"Oh, lunch time is over, let's get back, Deku!" Katsuki says, dragging him by his hand, his hands that has claws, scary claws that heroes don't have, and Katsuki doesn't think twice when grabbing it.

...

Maybe he just got into a class of weirdos. Nice people, but weirdos, there's no other way to explain this, right?
