Uche and Maggie

He'd been on the computer for over an hour and had achieved nothing, absolutely nothing.
He'd tried all the hacking moves he'd learned from Maggie, but nothing. The fisheye was invisible.

Maggie had just been sitting there saying nothing, with her arms and legs crossed staring at Uche like he was such an interesting movie.

" find anything yet?" she asked mockingly.

He looked at her, it began to frustrate him how Maggie wasn't willing to help.

He knew Maggie. She knew how to get to Chinny, she would not just do it.

" Maggie please? Help me here."

" hahaha.." she laughed " and give chinny to that monster?... No way"

" Maggie, I swear to you, she'd never leave my sight. I just need her to help us all here. She's the only one who can and you know it. I'm clueless here please?"

She smiled. " if Intel that the fisheye is in the country gets out believe me, the Medusa would be the least of our problems"

" then no soul would know Maggie, I swear. can't you see what is happening here?"

" what do you mean by that? I'm in this with you."

" Maggie no no, it's not that." He could hear his voice chocking slightly with tears he was trying to hold in.

"Maggie, I'm... I'm madly in love with her. Can't you see?" he paused and tried to gain composure.

" I've always loved her, everyday. I just never got the chance to show her how much. Maggie, this is God giving me a second chance."

Maggie stared at him pitifully. She was clearly touched. She knew Uche, she'd always wondered why he never picked interest in pretty Roma, or any other woman.

He was not a womanizer either. She'd once asked him,

"... you sure you ain't gay?"

A rich young man, with no interest in women? pretty hard to find.

" I thought I'd lost her forever. And this? I'm doing this for me, not for medusa or anyone. I'll protect her with my life, I swear it! I can't just live anymore without seeing her again, at Least this once.

" if medusa is eventually going to kill me, if this is my last time to live, then one last time please? Maggie? Before Medusa kills me, That's all I ask for one ... pl.."

" Fine... but if anything happens to her, I'll blame you forever "

" agreed"

Maggie cussed herself. She couldn't say no, not to love. It was clear to her, Uche loves her daughter - she was happy, he's a good man.

She never really found a man to love her relentlessly and she would not be the one to deny Chinny this opportunity.

" No one knows ?"

" no one knows" he concurred with a wide excited grin.

Well then, she stood up from the comfy cushion and rubbed her hands together.

" Step down then, let the legends work." she proudly ordered as he complied without hesitation.

She started working on the computer. It wasn't even hard for her, no need to crack brains and software or programs. She just delved straight into the dark web.

" you ..." Uche complained.

"Hush.." She interrupted and continued with whatever she was doing.

" The woman you love is a queen in the dark web. So, wait for it" she reported and paused like she was waiting for something.

Uche just stood there staring at Maggie in amazement with his arms folded, like he was going to say 'this evil woman'.

" I've dropped her our emergency code.. wait for it" she repeated.

After about five minutes, Uche's iPhone rang.
He picked it up and clearly written on the screen was :

" private number, input encryption code "

There was no phone number or anything!

What level of manipulation is this? He wondered.

He read it out to Maggie.

" Enter the code as I call it..." and uche started typing

" Alpha Tango 4 5 5 Charlie Delta."

“ Hiiii…. Ucheee!!” Uche heard a voice call his name from over the phone, he can’t be mistaken, it was Chinny’s.

According to her, she was close, at a neighbouring country on transit. She'd be in the country in an hour.

Ronald

“ hello?” Ronald called out softly as he entered Uche’s family house compound.
It wasn’t so large or anything.
It was just like a cute family home. Just like it’s always been. 
But this time, it was so lonely- looking like everyone had deserted the house.

'Something is not right' , he thought.

He inspected the security man’s quarters, no one was there.

“ Hellooo...!” he called out again and his voice seemed to echo.

He made his way to the main building, to the front door. It was open, someone must be home.

The air conditioning unit was still on, chilling the classy sitting room to some empty coldness.
The beautiful chandelier still hung there gracefully, like seven years ago- nothing much changed.

“ hellooo!” he called out loudly this time and sat on the comfortable cushion, his foot tapping on the hard Rocky floor tiles impatiently.
He had a feeling in his guts that something wasn’t Right.

Having sat there for ten minutes and no body showed up, he decided to go upstairs. 

'What could be wrong? Where is everyone?' He wondered

He searched the rooms one after the other… nothing, no one was there.

But then, on his way to the pent house where the master bedroom was, he saw the body of the security man, lying lifeless on the staircase. 

His blood formed a long thick line, pointing to his skull where his brains were splattered all over the place.

“ oh my heavens” Ronald muttered as he placed his right palm on his nose. 

The spilled blood looked a bit fresh so it was clear that it hadn’t been so long the tragic event occurred  .

He continued to the pent house, to the master’s bedroom.

On getting there, the door was wide open and looking into the room, his eyes caught a view that sent shivers down his spine.
