TWO. BRIGHT

Destiny's week was chaotic, from Carrie's constant "friendly" words of advice on how to take photographs , to her brother checking up on her after school, and adding the spiritual communication hours with clients. Destiny really needed a time out to relax and feel like she deserves it, Destiny didn't do any type of school work, her brain was all mushed down, and she always had an excuse for her teachers so they could let her turn her homework on friday. Thanks to her normal/good grades and very healthy relationships with her teachers, they had agreed.

That was also happened because Destiny teared up when she said her mother had come home only to pick her belongings and left again. Just on the side, the way she said it, and why she said it, was unknown, but Destiny was sure that she hated the example she took and made it an excuse.

Friday came around just like a blink of an eye, Destiny woke up earlier than before knowing she had to be there and help decorate, make sure her camera had enough space for the rally today, also she had to look as she part of the whole social media committee, her outfit of jeans and leather jackets would come to an end just for this day, exchanging the jeans for a skirt and a tank top, placing on her a headband.

"You look very sharp for school, what is the reason?" Destiny's father appeared on the frame of her opened the door, the coffee mug in his hand, and a piece of bread in the other.

"It's the spirit rally at school and I have to take pictures today, Carrie's performing." Destiny rolled her eyes at her reflection, the leather jacket was laid on her bed and even though she told herself not to wear it just for today, she gave in, placing it over her shoulders. "I gotta go early today, so I will see you after school."

"Destiny hold up, we need to talk," The words Destiny hoped she wasn't going to hear yet. "Your brother and I have talked and I think it's better if we stop the spirit sessions for this month, try to focus on school and other stuff Destiny."

"What other stuff dad? I don't have friends to hang out with, they know about what I do with the sessions and they think I am weird, they only talk to me for social media in school or to take photos of them, but I don't have friends." Destiny raised her voice and lowered as she finished speaking, her eyes looked down at the floor "I'm sorry."

"Try making some friends this month, you never know, the unexpected is around the corner, you might even do some strange friends like you." Destiny's father smiled at her and walked away from her room, the girl stood there for a brief moment.

"Make some friends." She whispered, the words were repeated in her mind as she walked towards the entrance, her father was now leaning against the door, the keys of his car in his hand. Another day without being able to walk to school.

Spirit Rally, in the middle of the basketball court, just like every single event that happened in school, Destiny wouldn't be surprised if her graduation ceremony even happened here. Mrs. Harrison and the Principal were both discussing the seat arrangements for the students, Carrie, and her backup dancers did the last rehearsal before their performance, and finally, Destiny, her eyes searched around the court for a place to settle to take pictures.

"Morning Students." Mrs. Harrison greeted the huge group of students who dreadfully walked into the court, Destiny chuckled to herself as she noticed every face making their way to an open spot. "Well, Welcome to our Spirit Rally, we have an amazing performance by our talented group Dirty Candy," the students clapped and whoo' ed loudly at the name of Carrie's group.

That was Destiny's cue to find a position at the front, her mind repeated to take good, correction, great photos of Carrie or perish and never be able to get into another school club for the rest of her years. Carrie and her backup dancers set themselves in the middle of the court, there was silence for just a moment before the music started loudly. The lights were shining on the blonde, who now was wearing a pink wing that matched her outfit perfectly. Destiny took photographs from below but worked the angles to take on Carrie's right side, that was her good side, she kept this on her memory ever since she started on the social media club, and Carrie sort of harassed her on letting her know.

The crowd cheered and danced behind Destiny, she took photographs far into a wall of the court to capture the moment between Carrie and the crowd, her feet stomped on the ground at the same time of the beat, she wasn't going to accept it on the other girl's face but, Destiny was liking the song just a little bit, but she won't accept such thing, she wouldn't, she knew Carrie would annoy her to support her channel and be her personal photographer or something and even though she knew she would get good pay, she preferred not to. The music came to an end, the students cheered on and applaud her, Carrie just thanked them and asked them to check out her youtube channel, of course, she loved the attention. The principal Mrs. Harrison took the stage, they both looked at the crowd with their smiles, and with their appearance, it seemed the crowd's energy left the room.

"That was sweet." The principal said smiling, her joke didn't go as planned as the students kept their silence. "Okay then. Before we let you go, we have a few more announcements." Destiny sighed and took steps back, she didn't even notice in what specific moment she walked away from the wall and was back in front of the stairs, she saw Flynn sitting there, with a smile on her face. "We look forward to our girls swim team defending our state championship." The principal finished the announcements and Mrs. Harrison screamed out Go Bobcats, making the students cheer and applaud before taking off.

Destiny was heading to talk to Carrie but a shadow on the stage caught her eye, she turned her head and squinted her eyes for a better focus, Julie was sitting in front of a keyboard, was she going to play? Destiny asked herself, maybe that was the reason why Flynn was smiling back there, she stood there waiting for Julie to do something, other students passed her by and talked, no one was looking at the girl on stage. The beginning of the notes in the piano made the brunette smile, she held the camera around her neck tight, her steps coming closer and closer in hopes of getting a picture. This was the moment Destiny had waited ever since she walked into the music room a few days ago. Julie paused her playing for a few moments, taking deep breaths, the touch of her fingers pressed into the keyboard letting the music started again, her eyes were looking at the crowd of students walking away, but some of them started to walk slower or even stop completely to see what was happening. Then it happened, Julie's voice was heard from the microphone and the ray of light shined above her, Destiny grinned and headed over, close to the stage, the camera in her hand. Few shots were taken by Destiny before she stopped and listened to the melody, Julie's voice was beautiful and joy filled Destiny's body knowing that Julie was brave again to start singing.

Students slowly started to gather around, some were hesitant to stay and listen but were curious about such presentation, even the principal and Mrs. Harrison were curious about sudden appearance of the student. Destiny moved to the right corner of the stage, ready to take another picture, and the exact moment she was ready to press the button, a band appeared behind Julie. A drummer, bassist and guitarist, out of nowhere. Everyone gasped and cheered, students who were about to leave came on running by the sudden change of melody from a slow one to an upbeat and it seemed like Julie was just as surprised as her classmates.

Julie had stood up from the chair and joined the band on her singing, Destiny bobbed her head at the rhythm of the music, forgetting for a moment what she was doing before. This was an amazing moment to capture, Julie and her band happily playing, students gathered and cheering for them.

"This is gonna look amazing." Destiny whispered as she took pictures of her classmates, the music was playing on her back, the urge of wanting to dance started to grown, and she knew that in any moment she was going to give in. Destiny joined the group of students and looked up at the stage, her eyes set en every member of the band beside Julie, something about them was so familiar, like she knew them, seen them before, but she couldn't point out from where exactly. But that thought wasn't going to bother her for long, pushing it deep into her mind, the brunette returned to enjoy the music, the way both Julie and the guitarist shared the stage, singing together, how the bassist even joined the mic with him and sang the lyrics of the song.

The guitarist joined Julie on the center of the stage, singing into her mic, Julie singing beside him, then as if it was something normal, she walked inside of him, the guitarist glitched before he started playing his notes again. Destiny gasped with smile and clapped, throwing her hands up, the adrenaline kicking in her system. The performance was way better than Carrie's, the crowd was more alive, happier, on the other hand, Carrie wasn't too happy by such performance, her arms were crossed and no emotion besides anger was showed on her face.

Destiny hurried to the front, taking pictures of the band, the happiest the better, she knew that this pictures were going to be the most loved by the Bobcats students, but she also knew the consequences she might have with Carrie for such thing, but, she's just doing her job. The song came to a finish, the band was starting to take a bow and Destiny took another photograph of them, as she let her camera down to applaud them, the band disappeared, leaving Julie alone taking the standing ovation. The claps became slower until no sound was coming from their hands, exchanged by the confusion questions and murmurs. Jake, the student in charge of the sound came running up to stage.

"Hey, where'd the rest of the band go?" He asked, everyone was quiet, waiting for an answer to come out of the girl.

"Wait, were those holograms?" Carrie's friend asked, the attention from her returned to Julie, some eyes were wide opened and others had their furrowed eyebrows, all of them tried to find a type of sense to what they just witnessed.

"Yes! Yes, they were holograms." Julie said with a smile on her face "I plugged it into the ceiling projector before the show, I'd explain it, but it involves algorithms and science stuff." She brushed it off as it were too complicated, students bought what Julie said by the sound of their applauding, Destiny, not too much, those holograms looked too real, the sound coming from their instruments were as if they were actual people playing, not the sound coming from a speaker. But who was she to judge?

The principal clapped her hands together and ordered the students to go back to their classrooms, everyone groaned and shifted their steps on the floor, leaving the court and back to their respective places. Destiny stayed behind, waiting for Julie to congratulate her and also to asks if she were okay with the fact she had taken pictures of her performance. While she waited for Julie to finish speaking with Mrs. Harrison and the principal, the girl looked down at her camera, checking the photographs, they looked pretty good, with the correct editing they might look amazing for their instagram page.

"Julie," Destiny called out her name, jogging to be face to face with her "that show was amazing, you were fantastic." She said and squeezed her arm gently.

"Thank you Destiny, that means a lot." Julie smiled, her hand on her chest as she said those words.

"I hope you don't mind, I took photos of your performance, I was hoping I could share them with the social club?" Julie nodded her head with excitement "Thanks, also I know this might sound bit weird, but who were those guys you played with? They looked awfully familiar." Destiny threw it out, she was sure she had seen the trio before, but again, she couldn't point out from where.

"Oh, maybe social media, I found them there and I don't remember the name of the band but they are pretty cool." Julie stated out for her, a chuckle was left from her lips, her body language shifted to a little bit of uncomfortable, and Destiny knew, this was where she had to leave.

"Well, I am so happy to see you sing again, and, amazing show really." Destiny smiled and waved goodbye to her. The camera on her hand had the picture of the band before they bowed down, zooming in into every face of each boy. "Who are you guys?" She asked herself looking at them.
