THREE. MOSTLY GHOSTLY

Destiny's mind could only think of one thing since the assembly, those guys in Julie's band. It annoyed her that it took her attention for most of the day, she wanted to know what was so intriguing about them, the honking of Kendall's car distracted from her thoughts, she hurried over to the vehicle but the sight of her dad caught her by surprise.

"Dad? Where's Kendall?" She asked hoping in the backseat.

"I took the car for repairs, Kendall lend it to me for the week, he will be taking the bus to school or something I will be driving him." He explained, his eyes looking in the rearview "How was school? Anything interesting?"

"Remember Julie Molina?" Destiny leaned forward to be between the two car seats, her father nodded his head in response "Well after what happened to her, she finally performed today at the spirit assembly, and with a band." Her eyebrows wiggled as her father's eyes widened "And she was amazing, dad, she has an amazing voice honestly, and I took pictures for the accounts, but that's not all, her band, they are holograms, but they liked way too real and very familiar too." Destiny stated out and returned to her seating position leaning back. Her father kept his smile on his face on their way home. Destiny sighed when her eyes looked at the living room, the table with the cloth was there in the center of the room, her father patted her shoulder a few times and smiled at the young one.

"I think you should start after our meal, if you do need any help, I'll be in the office so you can just knock and tell me, I'll happily help you out." Destiny's father nudged her and smiled happily, as much as she wanted the help, she preferred to this alone.

"Thanks dad, but I prefer to take my time cleaning this room up, I want to start right away, I am not that hungry either." She apologized, her dad nodded his head and his happy expression fell, he didn't say anything else and left the room, the noise was heard around the kitchen and now Destiny was standing in the reading room, alone. "Where to start huh." Destiny spoke up and looked around, opening the curtains letting light come through, making the once sad room, look lively, welcoming.

Destiny sighed deeply, she didn't want to get rid of this stuff, as much as she never believed in the ghosts sessions or stories, she had them here for her mom. She didn't pass away, she just moved, Destiny knew she was coming back, either for her family or even for her stuff, all these ghost stuff were a part of Wendy Brennan, it was what made Wendy, Wendy. Maybe she could reserve them in the attic, until her return, but giving them away? Never.

From the kitchen Destiny picked many bags and bags of trash to place the stuff she knew they weren't going to break, pillows, crosses, table cloth, all "insignificant" stuff were inside. The attic had unused boxes where she could put all the crystal stuff, the picture frames, the crystal ball she never understood why her mother even bought it, no medium used it, but Wendy always said it was to give a more psychic, future teller vibe, but still, it had no use in the home. The attic was covered in dust, spiderwebs, and boxes, few little home stuff were in the corners of the room, Destiny checked some boxes that were light enough and make sure they had nothing inside, she carried one by one, sometimes two but always careful to not fall down the stairs. She places the boxes around the floor, all scattered near the things she knew she was going to place in the attic, now she needed something to clean all these up, heading back to the kitchen, her eyes searching for a cloth, peeking through drawers and drawers until finding one.

"Aha!" Destiny happily exclaimed with the cloth on her hand, she hopped her way back to the living room, her hopping stopped abruptly at the sight of two boys, letting a scream that made the boys jump turning to look at her "Who are you? How did you get in?" She shouted out, grabbing the broom as a weapon.

"Wait, you can see us?" The boy with longer hair said, confusion and a smile mixing up in his face.

"Answer the question, how did you get in my house?" Destiny repeated herself, the broom was just in position ready to hit them if they got any closer, both of them looked extremely familiar.

"We're ghosts." The other boy with short hair and blue eyes said, Destiny didn't laugh or smile or anything, her face was all scrunched in anger and confusion. Destiny threw her cloth at them, the piece flying through them hitting the floor. "See, ghosts." He said smiling at her, Destiny was just about to scream again.

"What's going on?" The voice of Destiny's father was heard behind her "Why do you have the broom like that Des?" He asked, his eyes looking down at her.

"What do you mean what is going on dad, can't you-"

"He can't see us, we are ghosts" The boy said again the sentence his friend had just said, he moved closer and waved a hand in their direction, Destiny was the only one able to see it.

"So? What is going on Destiny? Why did you scream and say how did you get in our house?" Destiny's dad placed both of his hands on his hips, his lips were pressed together and his eyes were wide, he was growing impatient at not receiving any answer from her.

"It's a roach, yeah" Destiny placed the broom back on the wall "It flew and I got scared and I lost the roach." Destiny stuttered in her words, she looked back at the two boys who stood there a little uncomfortable for hearing this conversation "I'll get to the roach don't worry, go back to work please." Destiny pushed her father back, he was still confused but he bought the lie, a roach was something believable so he returned back to his office. Destiny sighed and turned to look at the two standing there.

"Hi." The short-haired one said, waving at her.

"You two, weren't you in Julie's performance today at school?" They nodded their head in response "But she said you were holograms, you are holograms." Destiny had now lowered her voice, she didn't want her father to hear her speaking by her own.

"Yeah, I mean, who would've believed her if she said we are ghosts, am I right Reggie?" The boy nudge his friend with a chuckle "We are sorry for this, we just weren't expecting to be seen by another person, we had a whole plan to communicate with you."

"I am going insane, ghosts don't exist, I am hallucinating by the attic's dust, that's all, they aren't real." Destiny shook her head and walked over to the boxes, cleaning up, ignoring those two standing there.

"Your name is Wendy Brennan isn't it?" Destiny stopped and turned to look at them "Reggie saw a flyer and we wanted to speak to a medium, maybe help us somehow?" The boy smiled shyly "My name is Luke by the way." Now she knew them, if they were ghosts she had now communicated with them, they were now going to stay on earth or at least haunt her, that is what Destiny thought.

"Sorry, but Wendy Brennan isn't here to help you, there's no such thing as ghosts and can you please leave." Destiny straightened up, her face going serious, trying her best to look the most mature and less scared girl right now.

"Do you know where we can find her?" Luke was the most chatty of the duo, Reggie was just looking at her in some kind of aw way that was making her feel a bit uncomfortable.

"She's not here, and I can't tell you, I don't know where my mother is and please leave." Destiny said again, both of the boys looked briefly at each other.

"You're her daughter, why can't you help us, believe us, we don't know what is going on and a medium could help us." Reggie finally said something after a while.

"I can't help you."

"You can't or you don't want to." Luke asked, something in his tone got a little aggressive but his face was filled by curiosity.

"I can't, I really can't help you, can you leave, whatever this is, whatever happened I am sorry, but please, leave." Destiny stood her ground, the boys looked down at the floor and apologized, disappearing into the air, Destiny gasped at what she saw, a shiver going down onto her spine. Ghosts. How was this possible, how did they exist, why was she all confused. They were too familiar and not only with Julie.

"Julie." Destiny thought of her, maybe she could help her answering some questions, they played with her today in the assembly, she could help her understand what was going on, maybe she wasn't going crazy, or maybe she was.

There's not such thing as ghosts, they couldn't be, all those past years where she tried to communicate with a family member and couldn't, and now, two guys asking for her help, correction, two very cute ghost guys coming for help.

Destiny was mixed up with confusion and anger, why was this happening to her, was this some kind of cruel joke? The brunette shook her head, vanishing the thoughts of it and tried to regain her focus on cleaning up, all she wanted was to have some peace, but with the presence of these boys, well her mind was making sure she remembered about the encounter every few minutes.

"Okay." She sighed, resting her hands on the dining table, taking a deep breath in. "If you guys are truly ghosts, you're probably hearing me right now, and if you are, introduce yourself to me again, appear somewhere." Destiny whispered, she was patient, waiting for the moment to hear or feel a cold sensation down her spine. "Please, please don't let me be crazy." When silence was followed along during a few more minutes, Destiny imagined she probably had imagined everything, that her mind was playing tricks on her.

So, she continued doing her things, already making a mental note to talk to Julie about it, let her know what she encountered and hoped that she would believe her, and that she wasn't totally crazy — she didn't want to cross out that possibility, not yet. First things first early Monday morning, talk to Julie about it.
