Chapter 18

Mussoorie is at an average altitude of 2,005 meters (6,578 ft). To the northeast are the Himalayan snow ranges, and to the south, the Doon Valley and Shiwalik ranges. Mussoorie is popularly known as The Queen of the Hills.

“Sanyukta, be careful on the rocks,” Parth cautioned.

The group is having fun at Kempty Falls. Gigantic Fall with somersault of the streams before hitting the bottom, Kempty Falls is the most popular and one of the oldest tourist spot near Mussoorie. Developed before more than 150 years ago by a British man, Kempty Falls is the most fascinating picnic spot or a perfect day out place nearby Mussoorie at a distance of 15 km.

“Let's go upward towards the other waterfall,” Kaustuki spoke excitedly.

“Yeah, that one has lesser people” Sanyukta spoke.

The boys swimmed in the lower pool while Sanyukta and Kaustuki went to the upper pool.

Kaustuki and Sanyukta swimmed with the swimming tube. After splashing water for a few minutes, Kaustuki sat by the pool side while continued to afloat on water to soak some sunshine.

Sanyukta swam towards the waterfall, the water seemed chiller. She closed her eyes to feel the water droplets on her face.

Enjoying the cool aqua, Sanyukta didn't realize that her swimming tube got a tiny hole.

Her body softly started sinking in. When she realized it, she was already drowning. Kaustuki screamed for help.

Sanyukta panicked in the water. Water filled her nostrils and her vision got blurred.

She struggled with her limbs to stay afloat but nothing worked, she freaked out while drowning deeper in water.

Underwater, her body felt weightless, the yellowish tint of the water consumed her sight.

Sanyukta thought she would die in the ice-cold water of kempty falls.

A warm pair of hands wrapped around her waist and pulled her up.

Parth clutched Sanyukta in his arms. His well toned abs gleamed in the water.

He  placed Sanyukta on the side. He then gently pressed her stomach to remove excess of water from her gut.

She puked water and opened her eyes.Kaustuki, Jignesh looked at her worriedly.

Sanyukta smiled weakly to assure everyone that she was fine.

Everyone made their way back to the hotel. Parth took great care of Sanyukta.
He didn't let her step out of the bed.

Parth spoke,” Take one more bite” as he made a morsel of food.

“Parth, I am already full. Don't worry, I am perfectly fine,” Sanyukta spoke out.

“You petrified me, I don't know what would I have done if I lost you,” Parth blurted out.

Sanyukta noticed a new set of emotions in his eyes. She could see affection, warmth and care in his eyes.

“What happened to the lights?” Sanyukta asked as the light turned off.

“Must be a power cut issue, these things often happen in mountains, “Parth responded.

Sanyukta opened the window to let fresh breeze enter. She looked at the twinkling stars in the sky then the dazzling lights of the valley, the city of Dehradun was gleaming like a newly-wed bride below the queen of mountains.

Suddenly Sanyukta felt hot breath on her neck.Parth placed his fingers on her waist.Sanyukta's heart wanted to stop Parth while her mind betrayed.

Parth placed a soft kiss on her nape. He then turned her around to place a passionate kiss on her lips making them red and swollen.

Parth then give a trail of kisses on her neck, giving hickeys behind. Sanyukta was finding a certain peace in this sweet torture. She thought she could forget Randhir completely by engulfing herself in pain and pleasure of physical proximity with Parth.

Parth placed Sanyukta on the bed, he tried to unbutton her shirt, but Sanyukta stopped him.

“Parth, I am sorry. I got carried away. Stop before it spoils our friendship,” Sanyukta spoke with teary eyes.

“It's my fault too. I shouldn't have crossed the line. I am sorry, I lost my mind," Parth spoke and went away from the room.

He looked at the Valley and closed his eyes with tears spilling on his face.

Meanwhile, Sanyukta cried lying on the bed, shedding endless tears on the pillow before sleep consumed her consciousness.

Can best friends be the best lovers? Destiny is changing rapidly. Parth and Sanyukta are  getting closer by every passing hour. Is Sanyukta still in love with Randhir or has she already moved on? Fate has written whose name in Sanyukta's life, only time can tell.
