Chapter 10

'Don't judge a book by its cover' completely defines Randhir Singh Shekhawat. Beneath his arrogance and rudeness lies a broken man who needs affection and care. Sanyukta understood this fact clearly, she didn't press further to know about Renuka Sanyal, but instead she looked Randhir with different glasses.

“Sanyukta why you are not arguing with Randhir? Is everything alright?” Kaustuki asked Sanyukta with curiosity.

Sanyukta narrowed her eyes and she whispered,” Wait, we are arguing?”. Normally people argue when they fight, does that mean we keep fighting all the time. Argh…it's complicated Kaustuki, let it be. I can't comprehend anything”.

Randhir seemed lost since the facilitation ceremony, while for Sanyukta too not fighting with Randhir seemed abnormal.

“Randhir, can I borrow your notes?” Sanyukta asked to start conversation.

“Sure “Randhir replied and handed over his notes to Sanyukta.

Sanyukta wanted to start argument at the earliest so, she spoke out,” Randhir your handwriting sucks, I will take notes from Jiggi”.

Randhir walked away towards his room, not responding to Sanyukta any further. Like robot, he marched towards his hotel room, Sanyukta kept following him.

“Randhir let me in, I want to talk to you for a minute” Sanyukta requested.

Randhir tried to close the door without paying any heed, but this time Sanyukta came inside swiftly.

“Randhir what's the matter? Why the hell you are acting so dumb, have you gone deaf?" Sanyukta spoke with irritation visible in her voice.

“Sanyukta, I am in no mood to talk, just leave me alone” Randhir uttered.

“But I will make a talk with you, I am here to listen. Just speak it out, all whatever is troubling you. Don't bundle up anything inside your mind,” Sanyukta spoke with concern laced over her face.

Randhir replied,” Certain things don't change no matter what we do”.

Sanyukta sighed and said,” Talking may not change anything, but it gives a relief from turmoil of emotions”.

“My parents often fought when I was a kid. They got divorced when I was 11. I had to spend weekdays with mom and weekends with my dad,” Randhir started narrating his tale.

“I loved spending time with my dad. Mom was always busy with her office, she never cared about me. Money and Work mattered to her more than me,”Randhir spoke nonchalantly.

“It was my 12th birthday, I wished that both my parents should be there to celebrate my special day. Mom stayed at office until late while my father also didn't reach on time, I sat there crying waiting for them then sleep came over me,” Randhir spoke.

“Next day I woke up, only to find the house filled with many people. Then I got the worst news of my life, previous night my dad had an argument with my mother as he was trying to convince her to attend my birthday bash, he kept arguing with her on the phone and his car met an accident. He died then and there only. I became an orphan. Soon Renuka Sanyal threw me to a day boarding in Dehradun” Randhir spoke as tears from his eyes started flowing freely.

Sanyukta looked Randhir with sympathy. She then hugged him warmly to provide him comfort. This embrace composed Randhir to a great extent, as he found a certain peace being around Sanyukta.

Sanyukta's phone rang suddenly. She picked up the call and her face faded as she attended the call.

Randhir asked Sanyukta what had occurred. She spoke out,”My father is again trying to fix a match for me, he even wants me to discontinue my studies as he never wanted me to reach FITE, Roorkee. I escaped from my house somehow, but now he is forcing me to get settled soon”.

Randhir thought for a while then he told a plan to Sanyukta making her eyes go wide in shock.

“Hello, am I talking to Prakash?”Randhir spoke out on the call.

“Yes, I am” came Prakash's reply

“I am your well-wisher, now listen to me carefully. That girl Sanyukta Aggarwal whom you are about to meet for matrimonial purpose is not good for you. She has a boyfriend, and she won't marry anyone else, " Randhir spoke seriously over the call.

The latter disconnected the call, fuming in anger. Randhir smirked while Sanyukta giggled happily.

“Randhir, how did you get his number?” Sanyukta asked with a smile.

“Randhir Singh Shekhawat knows to steal numbers” Randhir smirk smiled.

“Oh really Mr.Randhir Singh Shekhawat. What else you can steal?” Sanyukta spoke casually.

“Your heart” replied Randhir making Sanyukta blush like a tomato.

“I know you got Prakash's number from phone directory, don't try to play with me” Sanyukta spoke jokingly.

“I am already playing” Randhir replied and left smirking while Sanyukta stood there still with amusement and blush on her.

Sanyukta and Randhir are helping each other. Friendship is blooming or something more is brewing in between them, it will be interesting to watch to further whether its friendship or more than friendship.
