The day after Michael and Jeremy's date, Michael and Jeremy pretty much just cuddled on the couch.
Neither of them felt like going outside, especially since Jeremy already had somewhat of a sore throat and Michael didn't want him to get sick.
So, Jeremy lied down as Michael pretty much babied him, giving him tea and hugs all day. Jeremy's throat didn't even hurt that bad, so he didn't know why Michael was doing this.
"Dude, why are you so extra?"
Michael gasped and stopped rubbing his boyfriend's back. "Okay, sure. I need to stop being extra, Mr. wrote me a song."
That line shut Jeremy up.
Michael got bored of rubbing Jeremy's back super quickly, so he grabbed the ukulele that he's been playing on and off all day, and just started strumming random chords.
Jeremy was on cloud nine when Michael played ukulele, humming along to the melodies when he played songs.
"Damnit Michael, why are you so talented and amazing? Stop being so perfect, I hate you."
Michael stopped strumming as Jeremy said this, mouth agape and cheeks tinted slightly red.
"Jeremiah Heere, if I sat here and listed everything that's amazing about you, we'd be here for hours."
"Fine, fine. You win- only because I don't like talking for long periods of time because I stutter too much and I always mess up my words an-"
Michael silenced Jeremy's rambling by tackling and kissing him, not wanting Jeremy to start ranting about the things he didn't like about himself.
It's not that Michael didn't like Jeremy rambling about the things he was bottling up, rather he just wanted to cheer the boy up.
"Sorry, maybe that was bad timing?"
Jeremy wrapped Michael in another tight hug, his body warmth a sharp contrast to the cold Michael felt due to Jeremy taking the blankets.
"N-no. Thank you. I ne-needed it."
That slightly awkward- but pretty cute moment ended soon after as Michael studied the quiet rise and fall of Jeremy's chest, lulling him to sleep.
Jeremy saw Michael staring, but didn't mention it. Soon his boyfriend was asleep and Jeremy realized he should probably sleep too.
It was about four in the morning when Jeremy and Michael woke up to Jeremy's ringtone blaring from across the room.
Groggily, Michael reached for his glasses on the ground, moving his hand around until he could find them, which took longer than necessary considering he didn't look down once.
Once his vision cleared, Michael walked over to Jeremy's phone as Jeremy sat up and stretched.
Michael looked over at Jeremy confused. "It's Rich, do you want to answer it?"
Jeremy paused and then nodded, grasping the phone from Michael's outstretched arm.
"Rich, why exactly are you calling at four in the morning?"
Michael strained to hear the voice on the other end, but he couldn't catch anything.
"Okay? We will. Goodnight, Rich."
Michael raised one eyebrow at Jeremy.
"Rich said to turn on the news." Jeremy was equally as confused as Michael at this point.
Jeremy reached over to get the remote and then pressed some buttons to get to the news. He rewinded it back a few minutes, as his dad happened to record the news for some reason.
"-has been an explosion at the nearby prison, only two survivors have been found so far in the rubble."
Michael turned to look at Jeremy- who was already staring towards Michael, wide-eyed.
Michael spoke first, though cautiously. "Does that mean-"
"Is Christine dead?" Jeremy choked back his tears, which would probably be flowing freely in a moment's time.
Jeremy didn't like Christine or anything that she stood for, but he didn't want her to die! Christine was a terrible person, but she was also Jeremy's first crush and first relationship, albeit being heavily toxic.
Michael, on the other hand, was indifferent to the news. He hated Christine with a burning passion, but he wasn't going to show that he was happy about it, especially not in front of Jeremy.
Then, for the second time in ten minutes, the phone rang.
Michael grabbed the phone before Jeremy could, jaw slightly clenching when he saw who it was.
Angrily, he answered the phone.
"Alright Sadie, what the fuck do you want?"
