A/N: There will be a lot of dialogue in this chapter, whoops.

As soon as they went back to the basement, Jeremy spoke while walking to the shelf where he kept the note. "Okay. This morning I did some research on laws and stuff."

Michael replied, not seeing where this was going. "Okay? And?"

"So you know how Sadie bugged my basement?"

"Yeah?" Michael was starting to see where Jeremy was going with this.

"Well, I looked it up, and there is a 'one-party consent' law in the state of New Jersey." Before Michael could ask, Jeremy elaborated.

"Basically, you aren't allowed to record any conversation, whether it be over the phone or in person, with out at least one person's consent. If Sadie was actually here as part of the conversation when she was recording, then she could have used her own consent, even if we didn't know."

"So, what you're saying is that what she did was illegal? It's not like she hasn't done anything illegal before, you know."

"Yes, but using a wire in particular is apparently considered a federal crime, because apparently it is an illegal recording device. It is punishable by up to five years in prison, plus a $250,000 fine."

Michael slowly was able to process the information Jeremy was giving him, thinking before he spoke.

"Yeah, but do we have any evidence?"

"Well I have the wire in a plastic baggie, it might be enough evidence for the police to apply for a search warrant of Sadie's computer"

"Jeremy, is it really a big enough crime for police to get a search warrant?" Michael was seriously doubting the police would do anything about it.

"I'm not sure, but it isn't the only crime Sadie has done involving us."

"It isn't? But what has she-"

"Remember when she threatened you when she made you break up with me?"

"Yeah, I do."

"Well, of course stalking is repeatedly following or harassing someone, but it can also be defined as making a believable threat to make the person afraid of his or his family or friend's safety. While the wiretapping was already considered a felony, stalking is considered a major felony, so Sadie would surely be locked up."

Michael's eyes widened in realization.

Jeremy was right! Also, if Sadie got locked up, Michael and Jeremy could go back to their happy relationship, it was almost a foolproof plan.

"Wait. Neither you and I do well with talking to random adults, let alone police. Are you sure we'll have the ability to do this?"

"We kind of have to, Michael. We can't let these crimes go unnoticed, especially with how much her actions affect us in this case."

Jeremy's dad started to yell at him to hurry up. "So... we'll go to the police station tomorrow?"

"It's a date!"

-

Jeremy was so glad his family stuff was almost over. He loved his family, but they could be too much sometimes.

He woke up bright and early the next day, exceptionally nervous for the day's events. He looked up the hours of the local police department to see that they opened around forty minutes ago.

All Jeremy managed to eat was a small cereal bar, which was surprising because he rarely ever ate breakfast.

Michael, on the other hand, couldn't stomach anything. He woke up in one of those moods where he knew it was going to be an anxiety ridden day. It wasn't even because of the events that were going to happen, it was just something that happened far too often for Michael's liking.

He realized he was going to be late to pick Jeremy up, so he got ready quickly and got into his car.

As soon as Michael pulled up, Jeremy speedily walked outside, locking his door behind him.

They drove in almost complete silence. Occasionally Jeremy would hum along to a song on the radio, but that was about it.

Michael pulled up to the police department, but neither of them got out right then.

Eventually, Michael got out and walked around the car to open the door for Jeremy.

"We'll do fine," he said, kissing Jeremy's cheek and reassuringly squeezing his hand.

Jeremy took a deep breath, and then the two opened the door.

"How may I help you?" A lady in uniform spoke as soon as she made eye contact with Michael.

"I um, I-"

Michael was forever grateful when Jeremy spoke instead. "W-we have reason to believe that t-this one girl has committed s-several felonies."

The lady was silent for a minute before speaking. "Right this way. I'm Officer Baldwin, by the way."

Michael and Jeremy followed Officer Baldwin in silence, nerves still eating away at both of them.

As the officer went into the room and closed the door, Michael squeezed Jeremy's hand again. "We can do this," he said quietly. "I'll explain the breakup thing."

So, Jeremy took the wire out of his pocket and explained everything how he did to Michael, including the research he did.

Michael continued telling Officer Baldwin about his encounter with Sadie, as well as how she punched him the other day.

When Officer Baldwin asked if there was anyone else, Michael remembered something. "Uh... Sadie had connections with Christine Canigula, who attempted to murder both Jeremy and I."

Officer Baldwin's eyes widened before she gave a sticky note and a pen to Jeremy.

"Write down your name and number, I will make sure we can get a warrant as soon as possible. Thank you."

-

Sadie was rudely awoken from her nap with a strong bolt of electricity.

"What the hell?"

I need you to pack a suitcase and get out of the house. Just drive elsewhere. Preferably outside of New Jersey, please trust me on this one.

"No! What is your problem? I can't just run away from my problems!"

Sadie Ann Young, listen to me. I'm sure you didn't buy me to waste four hundred goddamn dollars. There is a 99% chance that you will be arrested in the next hour if you don't move your ass and go somewhere else.

"What? I haven't done anything wrong!"

Does using an illegal audio recording device ring a bell to you? What about stalking?

"Stalking? You're insane, I haven't stalked anyone!"

Stalk- Verb: To harass or persecute someone with unwanted and obsessive attention.

Sadie's eyes widened. "Shit." She pulled out the old suitcase in her closet, stuffing a few outfits in it before grabbing food and other supplies.

Are you able to delete the footage from your computer?

"No! My computer is dead and by the time it charges I'll have handcuffs on, unless you're lying to me!"

Why would you think I'm lying? You. Are. A. Fucking. Criminal! You know what? Why am I even bothering to help you? I'm out.

Before Sadie could persuade the Squip to stay and help her, it was gone.

Sadie slammed the trunk of her car after putting her suitcase in and drove off.

A/N: Guys I actually did research for this, are you proud?
