39. "you're keeping him sane"
{shawn pov}
"Hey, Andrew?" I ask as I walk into his room.
"Yeah, bud?"
"Emma recently... wrote a song. And it's phenomenal, I think it could be really successful. She doesn't know this, but I took a voice recording when she was singing it to me, because I knew I would want to have this conversation with you." I chuckle. "I really think you should hear it."
"Okay, I'll give it a listen," he smiles. I start playing the voice recording and her melodic voice fills my ears once again. "I don't know, Shawn. She's really good but you know that there's so much talent out there and I can't make any promises."
"Please just think about it," I beg.
"Of course Shawn. I'll see what I can do." he says, giving me a pat on the back.
"Thanks, man" I say and I walk out of the room smiling. The fact that he's thinking about it is a good thing. Emma deserves the world after everything she's been through.

"This song goes out to someone who changed my life, at first in a negative way, but now, the outcome is becoming more positive. Because of him, I have the strength I have today,"
"This is a shoutout to my ex,
heard he in love with some other chick,
yeah yeah that hurt me, I'll admit,
forget that boy, I'm over it,"
Lately I've been a lot stronger. More confident, and I feel a lot better about myself. And I thought I would sing about it here at our performance in Vancouver.
"I guess I should say thank you,
for the 'hate you's and the tattoos,
oh baby, I'm cool, by the way,
ain't sure I loved you anyways,
go ahead now, imma live my life,
my life, yeah,
Shoutout to my ex,
you're really quite the man,
you made my heart break
and that made me who I am,
here's to my ex, hey look at me now,
oh I'm all the way up, I swear you'll never,
you'll never bring me down,"
This song is right, I should be saying thank you to Dylan, because he practically made me the person I am today. What he did to me brought me down at first, but now I'm back up and stronger than ever because of him.
After the show, we hang out in the hotel for awhile, in Matt and Cams room. Eventually Shawn says he should get some writing done, so he goes back to our room.
It's a little awkward at first, so I improvise. "I should go back too, I have a few things to do," I stand up from where we were lying on the floor. But I feel an arm grab me as I start to walk away.
"No, Em. Please don't leave, It'll be fun," Cam whines.
I ponder both options, not wanting to let two of Shawn's best friends down.
"You won't even be able to get anything accomplished in there while he's playing his guitar anyways," Matt reasons. "Plus, we have Oreos," he wiggles his eyebrow.
I give into the persuasion at the mention of my favourite snack food. "Okay, fine. But only because you have Oreos." I giggle.
I sit back down on the floor. "So, you like Shawn?" Matt asks.
I start laughing. "He is my boyfriend, you know."
"Yeah I know," He laughs. "I was just trying to strike up a conversation, geez."
"Oh and where are those Oreos you promised me, Espinosa?" I sass him.
"Woah, no need to be so sassy, Hall! You never said you wanted them right this minute, so how was I supposed to know?" he shoves me playfully. "Plus, I never promised them."
"Whatever, Espinosa. If you really knew me, you'd know that I wanted them right now," I giggle.
"Well I've only known you for a few days." he laughs. "I'm assuming you want them now then?" He sighs.
I just roll my eyes, and he gets up to grab them.
"So, is Shawn usually like this?" Cam asks, and continues when I raise my eyebrow. "Leaving you alone to write music, I mean."
"Well, um, no. This is the first time he's really done this," I reply, scratching the back of my neck. "Why?"
"No, I'm just curious. Doesn't seem like him, that's all," he pauses. "He really loves you, Emma. I mean it. I can see it in the way he looks at you. You're keeping him sane."
I furrow my eyebrows. Keeping him sane? I thought Shawn was the one keeping me sane. "What do you mean?" I ask.
"This tour seems to be a lot for him mentally. He's living his dream but things moved really fast for him, and this tour has been stressful. Having you to talk to and be around helps him get his mind off all the stress," Cam explains.
"Wow, I didn't know I had that much of an effect on him," I smile bashfully, then I feel a tap on my shoulder and I turn to my left, seeing Matt holding out the Oreos. "OREOS!" I scream, laughing. Then I grab them and set them on the floor, and give Matt a big hug.
He stumbles back a bit, not expecting it.
I laugh, then sit up and take a cookie. I twist off the top, then eat the first cookie like I always do, then lick out the middle and finally, eat the last cookie. I look up and see both Cam and Matts eyes on me, and I suddenly turn red. "What?" I ask with a nervous giggle.
"Why do you eat it like that? It takes so long, just shove it in your mouth!" Cam laughs.
"Why do you not eat it like that, that's the real question," I raise an eyebrow and give him a look. "It's an Oreo! You have to eat it that way!"
"You can't tell me how to eat my cookie, Imma do whatever I want," he says, and takes a cookie, plopping it all into his mouth at once, rubbing it in my face.
I have a disgusted look on my face, but then I let out a small giggle.
Rrring!
My phone rings in my pocket. I take it out and see Shawn's name pop up onto the screen.
"It's Shawn," I smile at them, and click the green button to answer the call. I walk to the other side of the room. "Hey babe, what's up?" I ask.
"Hey, I just realized that I left you all alone with two people you barely know and I feel terrible. Is it really awkward?"
"Yes, um, it's incredibly awkward, actually," I joke, whispering. "Why did you have to leave me here with these two?"
"I'm so sorry, you should've come over here! I'll tell you what. I'll make it up to you, I promise. How about I take you out to a nice dinner toni-"
"Babe, chill, I was joking! I'm doing fine over here, we're all, like, best friends," I let out a laugh, and so does he. "Don't worry about me, I'm fine. Focus on what you need to do," I smile.
"Are you sure?" he asks, hesitant.
"Yes, I'm sure. But dinner does sound lovely," I smirk.
"Okay, I can do that," he laughs. "I'll work for another hour and then I'll come over, okay?"
"Okay," I smile. "I love you."
"I love you too, see you soon."
I hang up and walk back over to the boys. They're both looking at me. "What?" I ask, my cheeks heating up.
"You're honestly girlfriend goals, he's so lucky to have you," Cam explains.
"What? Why?" I laugh.
"Yeah, just the whole, 'I'm fine, focus on what you need to do'. Most girls are really needy and would say things like 'No, come here right now'." he imitates in a whiny voice and I laugh. "It's very irritating."
"Uh... thanks, I guess?" I say awkwardly.
"That's a compliment," Matt assures me.
"Okay, well then thank you," I smile, letting out an awkward giggle.
We keep talking for awhile, about our interests, some of their good times in magcon, and my tour experience.
There's a knock at the door but no one gets up. I'm hoping that one of them gets up, because I'm really lazy and I don't want to get the door.
"Emma, go get the door," Matt demands.
"What? Why me?" I whine.
"Come on, take one for the team," he pouts.
"Fine." I groan as I stand up and trample over to the door.
When I open it, I see someone who I really should've expected to see but I didn't.
I gasp.
