Dec. 22
(25 Weeks)
🚨🚨🚨

Madelaine laid in the hotel bed with Travis asleep at 2 AM. The couple was in Washington state, but in light of the distance between she and her family, Madelaine thought it best to just stay in a hotel not too far away. As she was sleeping her stomach got rock hard and the uncomfortable pain started to set in again like with her placental abruption. In a state of panic, Madelaine threw herself from sleep and nudged Travis. "Baby, wake up. They're happening again," Madelaine vaguely whispered. Travis turned over to face her and wiped his eyes.

"What the actually hell are you talking about?" He asked, a little over slightly annoyed. Madelaine placed her hands on either side of her bump, but tried to ignore the pain. To bad the pain demanded to be there and Madelaine quickly got choked up.

"Baby," she managed to get out before standing up and leaning forward onto the bed. Travis sat up and turned a light on to see that whatever was happening with his fiancé was serious. "Oh my gosh," she whispered a few seconds after the pain subsided. Her heart raced as all the terrible possibilities ran through her mind. The babies were only 7.5 pounds combined. She was only 25 weeks and definitely not ready to give birth. And she was quit a long ways from her doctor and all of her stuff. But, instead of externally freaking out, she took a deep breath and chalked her pain up to round ligament pains. Arizona told her not to worry about them. So, that was exactly what she would do. Nothing. Travis finally got out of the bed a scooted to Madelaine.

"Turn around," he said, sitting on the edge of the bed. Madelaine did as she was told and was pulled to sit between Travis' legs. Being a good fiancé and baby daddy, Travis pushed on two of Madelaine's pressure points and watched her lay her head back on his shoulder in comfort.

"Where did you learn that?" She asked. Travis proudly smiled and kissed her cheek.

"I watched YouTube videos and from Cole," he said. Madelaine sighed and got off the bed sadly. "Where are you going?" He asked.

"I have to pee," she answered, before shuffling to the bathroom slowly. Travis heard her shut the door and crawled back over to his side and went back to sleep. He had been driving all day with Mads too pregnant to fly and he could barely keep his eyes open anymore. When Madelaine came back from the bathroom she got back in the bed and slipped under the warm covers. Travis instinctual felt for her and spooned her with his hands on her bump as soon as he found her.

🚨🚨🚨

The next morning Madelaine sat on the couch with a pad and pen in her lap as Travis and Shaun played video games. She was on FaceTime with Lili, Camila, and Vanessa trying to plan her baby shower for January. "Taylor said something about doing the red theme again, but I don't feel like we should do that again," Madelaine stated. She watched the girls nod in agreement. "I asked Marisol and she said we could do it at her house, since she has the huge space," Madelaine said. Camila tapped Lili's camera phone with her pen to get everyone's attention.

"I think that having a gold, white, and grey theme would be cute and gender neutral for the kiddos. I saw on Pinterest these cute balloon ideas to spell out their names over the dessert table," Camila shared. Madelaine wrote down the most important things from that statement and drew a line underneath it before she dropped her pen and started to take deep breaths. Lili was the first person who noticed that Madelaine's eyes were closed and she looked in distress.

"Mads, are you okay?" Lili asked. Madelaine nodded as the pain subsided. The 25 year old placed her hand over where the kids were kicking and took a deep breath.

"I've been having round ligs all day. They are constantly dull pains but every now and then I get a sharp one and that one was sharp as hell," she explained. Lili nodded as Camila and Vanessa stared in minor horror. They could not imagine going through that pain all day long.

"Is it just in your stomach or is it in your pelvis too. Cause I didn't have this, but my doctor told me about SPD where basically your pelvis isn't aligned and stuff," Lili asked. Madelaine shrugged.

"It's everywhere. My back, my stomach, my pelvis, definitely my static nerve. Everything just hurts," Madelaine answered. Lili gave her friend a sad look and went back to her notes.

"I'm sorry, mama. I wish I could say that pain will be over soon, but honestly as the babies grow, so will the pain," Lili sadly replied. Madelaine slowly got depressed over the situation and placed the pen and paper on the coffee table between Travis' beer and Shaun's mixed drink, two things she wished she could've had.

"It's okay. The pain is bearable most of the time," she said. "I have to go. I'll text you guys later, I'm gonna help my mom in the kitchen," Madelaine excused. The girls said their 'goodbyes' and allowed Madelaine to leave the call. The soon-to-be mama got off of the brown couch in the man cave and headed for the kitchen. She watched her mom place something in the oven and sat at the bar as her mom turned back.

"Ahh," Michelle slightly jumped. "Laine, you scared me," she said. Madelaine stared at her mom for a second before lying her head on the counter. "What's wrong?" Michelle asked, like Madelaine was just randomly going through nothing that would hurt her at all.

"Just thinking about how you guys didn't show up to my gender reveal or even ask if I was okay in the hospital," she calmly replied. Michelle sighed and wiped her hands off the small kitchen towel that was placed on her shoulder.

"Laine, we wanted nothing more than to be by your side on that day but..."

"Dottie. I know. She wouldn't approve and all this shit. Does she know that Travis and I are here?" Madelaine asked. Michelle stayed quiet, as she cut up the fruit for Christmas breakfast. "Unbelievable," Madelaine whispered. Not even attempting to move her head. "She is acting like I'm 16 or something! I'm literally 25 almost 26! Why the hell is this such an issue?" Madelaine basically yelled.

"Because she knows," Michelle whispered intensely. "She knows about your high school slip and she thinks this is just like that," Michelle finally said. Madelaine slowly picked up her head and stared at her mother.

"That wasn't even my fault. She knows that, right?" Madelaine asked. Michelle leaned against the counter and hung her head.

"Yeah, but she thinks that you're just letting Travis take advantage of you. Just like,"

"Don't say his name," Madelaine coldly interrupted. "First of all, he didn't take advantage of me as if I was some naïve little girl and were dating and he talked me into something I didn't want. He attacked me backstage at a rehearsal for a damn musical. Secondly, comparing Travis, my boyfriend, the actual love of my life, to the guy who raped me is fucking disgusting," Madelaine spat. Michelle nodded.

"I know that. You think I don't know that? I spent many nights holding you as you slept and praying nothing would happen to your brother. But, Dottie doesn't care. She thinks that if you weren't be promiscuous or whatever at 16, you wouldn't have ended up in the situation that you were in. Not my words," Michelle said. "She turned that incident and some how made the family think that this and that are the same," she finished. Madelaine wiped a couple of tears that had fallen on her long sleeved shirt and stared into the distance, trying to calm down for her babies sakes.

"I," Madelaine started. However she didn't even know what to say. "That incident that she spun was my child. My baby that I 'miscarried' while staying with her over the summer. The baby that I had to deliver still born, because she killed her. She watched everything that I went through with the loss of Liola, saw how happy I was with this pregnancy and somehow made it that these situations are remotely the same? That was a decade ago. And you listened to her. You hid away from your own daughters gender reveal, just like your hiding me and Travis right now," Madelaine said, knowing her mother wasn't fully to blame because in all honesty Dottie was still her mother's mother. And as much as she'd like to think that she was her own her person, Madelaine knew that if her mother said jump she'd ask from where. And that realization irritated her more than the sharp pain in her stomach. Sadly this time it was mixed in with the pain of what felt like a contraction. If was the same tightness as the pain from the party, but more intense than she'd remembered. Michelle read the pain on Madelaine's face as she watched her daughter breath through whatever she was feeling.

"Is it your round ligaments?" Michelle asked as she went back to cutting up more fruits. Madelaine nodded.

"That and Braxton Hicks," she said. Michelle alarmingly looked up at her daughter and dropped the knife on the counter.

"Laine, I don't think you're having Braxton Hicks contractions. It's too early for that. I'm pretty sure you're in active labor," Michelle said. Madelaine groaned and got up from the counter.

"You know, it's a full time job trying to keep these kids in," Madelaine sighed. She headed to the game room and tapped Travis on the shoulder. He dropped his phone in his lap and turned the swivel chair around to face his fiancé.

"What's up?" He asked, wrapping his arms around her and placing his head on her baby bump.

"Mom thinks I'm in active labor, so I think we're gonna head to the hospital," Madelaine said. Before she could even finish her sentence both Travis and Shaun were up and turning off the game.

"Where are my keys? We gotta go!" Travis panicked. Madelaine rolled her eyes and grabbed the keys from off the coffee table.

"My keys are right here," she corrected. Travis snatched them from his fiancé and rushed her to the bright red SUV. Madelaine hopped into the passengers side as Shaun and her mom followed in Shaun's car.

🚨🚨🚨

Travis parked the car in the ER parking lot and walked in with Madelaine not to far behind. "My fiancé is in labor!" He panicked as he rushed to the desk. Madelaine stood next to him at the desk and stared at him for second, deciding whether or not to hit him, before ultimately just moving him over.

"Travis, shut up. We are here to make sure I'm not in labor. I'm 25 weeks with twins," Madelaine said. The nurse nodded and handed Madelaine a small packet on a clipboard to fill out.

"Last name?" She asked.

"Petsch," Madelaine calmly answered. The nurse nodded and typed that in.

"Alright, have a seat and we will call for you as soon as a bed opens up," she said. Madelaine smiled at the nurse and dragged Travis to the seats with her mother and brother.

"Sit," Madelaine commanded, pointing to the seat Nextel Shaun. "Unless I'm physically unable to speak, no talking to doctors or nurses or anyone that works here," she said. Travis hung his head and stared at the tiles on the ground. Madelaine sat next to her mom across from the guys and started to fill out all the questions.

With her mom looking over her shoulder, Madelaine got a little weirded out answering questions about her sex life. She got to question 35 which asked when was the last time she had sexual intercourse and she immediately turned red. Madelaine looked at her mother for a second before looking back at the packet. "Madelaine just answer the question. Clearly," Michelle motioned to Madelaine's stomach, "you've had sex before," she said. Madelaine checked the hours box and watched her mother's face turn. "Where?" She asked.

"Shaun's gaming chair in the den before he woke up," Madelaine said, loud enough to get her brother's attention. "It helps with the pressure," Madelaine sort of explained to her mother. Shaun and Travis looked up with two different reactions. Shaun's was confused and Travis reminiscing.

"What about my chair?" He asked. Travis shook his head as Madelaine smirked.

"That's the last place Travis and I fucked," she said. Shaun's eyes blew up as he stared at Madelaine.

"Dude, you're lying!" He said. Travis smacked his forehead with his non broken hand as Madelaine shook her head.

"Dude, I'm not! This pay back for my car in high school," Madelaine said. Travis and Michelle looked at Shaun with intrigue written all over their faces.

"You said we would never speak of that! You said you were cool with it!" Shaun said.

"Shaun," Michelle said.

"You said it was just a blowjob!" Madelaine replied.

"Madelaine!" Michelle yelled.

"So your cool with me telling mom about prom night circa 2012?" Shaun said. Madelaine rose an eyebrow and narrowed her eyes.

"Jokes on you! She already knows! Did you forget the end of the story? We got caught!" Madelaine smirked.

"Jokes on you cause I bet you didn't tell Travis about that," Shaun fired back. Madelaine folded her arms and sat forwards in the chair.

"Travis knows about all of my sexual exploits. I win! And if I wasn't starting to have a contraction, I'd come over there and hit you," Madelaine said, passing the clipboard to her mother and standing up. Travis stared at her bump before starting to chuckle. Madelaine looked down to see one of the twins elbows literally sticking out. She tried not to laugh, but she couldn't help it. She was in so much pain that she hadn't noticed. "This is so creepy," she said, trying to push the elbow in with no achievement. Her stomach was too hard and the baby was quiet strong.

"You want me to do the thing?" Travis asked. Madelaine nodded and allowed him to pull her to his lap. Madelaine placed her hands on her knees and leaned forward as Travis pushed on the pressure points again. Shaun and Michelle watched as Madelaine started to relax and flipped her hair to one side. "Better?" He asked. Madelaine hummed a low 'yeah' and watched a nurse come from the double doors.

"Petsch?" He called. Madelaine got up and walked with Travis and her family to the back. They followed him to a small room with a bed and a glass wall facing towards the hall with a curtain. "Alright, go ahead and get settled. We have an OB on her way to make sure nothing to serious is going on," he said. Madelaine nodded and laid on the bed as her family took over the chairs and couch.

"What if they say you have to deliver?" Travis asked. Madelaine sat her phone down and laid back in the bed.

"Already taken care of," she said. Travis took Madelaine's hand and waited for the doctor's appearance.
