Cancun

The last week of July

Madelaine laid in bed, sick to her stomach. She wasn't sure why she felt so terrible, but she knew it wasn't good. Her Cancun trip was 15 hours away, but her focus was set on the fact that she couldn't keep anything down. "Babe, drink this," Travis said. He handed her a glass of water with some over the counter anti-nausea medicine. They had tried everything natural to get rid of the bug, but by the third day of basically starvation, Madelaine decided to try good ole modern medicine. She took one sip and realized she was going to have to chug the fizzy drink. It taste as if bleach and salt were mixed together in club soda. The actress prayed it wouldn't  come back up though, because she had stuff to do and those things did not involve being confined to her bathroom floor.

"I hope this works," Madelaine said as she sat the glass on her nightstand and grabbed her phone off of its charger. The couple had an hour before they were supposed to call separate Uber's to go get their friends. So, Mads took that chance to take a car nap and let the medicine kick in.

Almost two hours later Madelaine, Lili, Vanessa, and Camila lounged around at the gate as they waited for Casey, KJ, Cole, and Travis to show up. The uber that the ladies took came way ahead of the guys, so the ladies were stuck without the other half of their group. They decided to take that chance to just girl talk for a little bit. "Oh my gosh! I can't wait to just relax and have a drink," Camila smiled as she stretched out on the uncomfortable black seats. The girls nodded and simultaneously sat their phones down. Madelaine pulled her left foot into the chair and placed her head on her knee. She was still nauseous and Travis had the medicine.

"I wish I could have a drink. I can't even eat. I have been feeling so sick, and I think it's because I haven't had time to rest and get over this bug," Madelaine said. Her stomach started to churn a bit more at the thought of her sickness.

"Oh yeah, you were telling us about that in the chat. Did you ever get to see the doctor about it?" Lili asked. Madelaine shook her head with an annoyed eye roll.

"Nope. I made an appointment and the doctor canceled at the last minute. So I have to wait until we get back to go," Madelaine complained. Camila shook her head and swung her legs over the arm of the chair and over Lili's legs.

"That's crazy. How long have you had this bug?" Camila asked. Madelaine shrugged.

"How long ago did I text you guys about this?" Madelaine asked as she scrolled through the messages. "Maybe a week now. And it's only gotten worse," she answered. Camila rose her eyebrows.

"What do you mean worse?" She asked. The redhead pulled out her "puking log" as Travis like to call it. She wanted to keep a record of that in case the doctor asked her any specifics.

"So far, it has been at least once an hour, or if I eat anything other than Mango. And even then I still gag. And water is the only thing that will stay down. But I took some medicine and we are an hour and forty five minutes in with nothing coming up," Madelaine explained. Lili shook her head with a giggle.

"Bitch, you sound like you're pregnant," she joked. Madelaine nervously laughed and closed her notes app.

"Yeah, no thank you," she denied. Camila smirked.

"You sure? We can go buy a test for you to take," the Brazilian-American teased. Madelaine started to seriously get nervous at that thought. She never thought about pregnancy as an option, because she had forgotten about the unprotected sex she and Travis partook in. It was out of the ordinary, so she hadn't even thought much of it.

"I'm fine," Madelaine sighed. This conversation was one that she didn't want to have and she needed an out. She looked at her half empty water bottle and decided on her next move. "I need another water. Anyone want anything?" She asked as she grabbed her backpack. The women shook their heads and watched as she headed to a simple drug store and found the cheapest test she had ever seen. "I don't think this is gonna work. It looks like a toy," Madelaine whispered. She shrugged and grabbed it along with a liter water bottle. Once paid for, she hid the test at the bottom of her bag and took her water bottle back to the gate.

She resumed her seat between Vanessa and Camila and slid down into the seat so that her neck was against the chair. Her nerves had gotten the best of her and her heart rate picked up. All she could think of were the "What If's". What if she and Travis were about to be parents? Was she ready for that? She loved him, but were they mature enough for that? What if he didn't want a kid and left? Or worse, tried to force her to get an abortion? She had to take the test to find out any of those answers, but at the same time she wasn't sure if she wanted to know.

"Are you okay?" Vanessa whispered. Madeleine nodded, but her demeanor remained the same. Her mood had been dampened and she was stuck in her spiraling thoughts.

✈️✈️✈️

On the plane, Madelaine had her headphones in to drown out her head and her sunglasses on to keep from showing her tears. She was scared and unsure of what was to come. With no one to talk to about her feelings, Madelaine kept playing the worst case scenarios in her head. She could lose her job, her boyfriend, her friends, everything. She was stressed over something that she didn't even have confirmation on. But, after Lili planted the bug in her ear, the infestation of that notion wouldn't allow anything to fumigate.

✈️✈️✈️
5 Hours Later

Madelaine and Travis settled into their room at the Le Blanc Spa Resort. "Babe, can we go to the beach, I want to talk to you about something," Travis asked. Madelaine slowly nodded and went to change in the bathroom with Travis changing in the bedroom.

The two walked hand in hand down the beautiful Mexican beach as the sun started to set beyond the horizon. The couple splashed around in the water for little, before Madelaine called a truce. "What did you want to tell me?" She asked. Travis bit his lip and placed one knee on the ground. That's when Madeleine saw all of their friends run up the beach with their phones pointed at them.

"Mads, you know I'm not good at speeches, so I'll keep this short," he whispered. "Baby, I love more than you will ever know. I love waking up next to you. I love holding you in my arms and I want to be the one to dry your tears and give you kisses for the rest of our lives," the thirty-one year old said. Madelaine teared up and placed her hand over her mouth. "Will you marry me?" Travis asked. Madelaines eyes lit up as he pulled out a gorgeous diamond encrusted, rose gold band.

"Of course," Madelaine nodded. She watched Travis place the ring on her left hand, through blurry eyes.

"Are you happy?" the tatted artist asked as he stood up and met Madelaine face to sort of face. "Because, I am. And I want this more than you know," he said. Madeleine wiped her tears and placed her hands on either sides of his face

"Yeah, baby. I am. I love you so much and you have no idea how insanely excited I am about this," she widely smiled. Travis pecked Madelaine's lips before taking her hand and leading her towards the resort.

"Yay!" Cami screamed as she Lili and Vanessa attacked Madelaine with hugs. "This is amazing!" Camila gushed. Lili looked at the ring in awe.

"That is so you! Congrats," Lili smiled. Madelaine stared at the ring on her finger with a full heart and head.

"We have to celebrate!" Vanessa said. She dragged Madelaine behind Camila and Lili towards Lili and Coles room to get ready and explode over this. On the contrary, Madelaine thought about how she was going to tell her family if she was pregnant. She didn't want them to think that a baby was why Travis was marrying her. He didn't even know about her suspicion, but she was sure of how it would look.

"I don't know. I don't want to tell a whole bunch of people and then something happens," Madelaine slightly worried. Vanessa tightened the death grip on her wrist and shook her head.

"Nonsense! Everything will be fine. Don't worry! Let's just relax on this trip and have fun. We can worry about true wedding talk when we get back. Just bask in this! You're getting married," Vanessa grinned. Madelaine took a deep breath, plastered on a fake smile, and sat on the bed quietly as the girls got ready.
