*back to the present*

*Alya's POV*

Marinette texted the group chat saying there was something very important she had to tell the entire class. I decided not to question it. So I got ready for the day. I wore my usual flannel jacket and white undershirt with jeans and sneakers. I was too tired to tame my hair so I just put it in a ponytail. 

M- 'Hey class of 2020! I have something to tell you guys. Its very important and I need to tell you guys ASAP. Meet me in the park at 3 pm'

Alya- 'ok girl'

Nino- 'sure dudette'

Adrien- 'Ok M'lady'

Mylene- 'ok Marinette!'

Alex- 'i hope i could bring my skates but im on my way'

Kim- 'Can I swim in the fountain?'

(nobody else replied after Kim's stupidity)

*Time skip to 2:45 PM*

*Marinette's POV*

'Its amlost 3, shouldnt they be here by now? oh wait there is Alya!'

"Hey girl!" I was surprised to see alya's hair up. She mostly has it down.

"Hey Alya! Are any of the others with you? I want to get this over with as soon as possible."

"No girl and why do you look so bummed? And what is son urgent that you need the whole class?"

"I cant tell you yet! I need the others with me too!" I said with agitation. I muttered under my breath 'especially Adrien'

*Time skip to 3:15 and everybody was there*

I was scared of what my friends would think of my decision. Not that I had a choice, I have to do this, i have to tell them! Its now or never!

"Ok guys, as i mentioned in the text there is something very important for me to tell you. It pains me  to say but my father is very ill and I have to take over the family business."

Everybody looked shocked and out of the silence, Adrien broke the tension.

"But thats great Marinette! You're just going to work downstairs! It only means you will have to work and we will have less time to hang out but we can all cope with that! Its not the worst thing in the world right?" he looked so confused, confused as to why this was hurting me so much.

"Well, my father secretly decided to expand the family company. With the help of my aunts and uncles of course. But because the company is so large now, I- I have to move to Los Angeles, to the base of the company." I couldn't hold back my tears but I had to stay strong for my friends, for Adrien, for Alya, for myself.

Mylene and Alex didn't know what to say but they said they had to leave. I knew they didn't but I let them go because I knew it was my fault.

Alya didn't believe this so she blurted out "Let your mother take care of the company! Or other relatives! Why do they have to take you?!" she tried to speak without letting tears fall but failed.

Before I could say anything, Alya ran off tears falling by the second. I felt awful. Adrien was speechless as was Nino and the rest of the gang. I couldn't believe everybody's reactions.

Adrien pulled me to the side and asked with concern, "Wait, if you move to America, who will be ladybug? When Hawkmoth attacks, who will purify the akuma's? Who will-" he sighed, "Who will be M'lady?" He was on the verge of balling his eyes out. I felt as if the world was ending, I didn't have the answers to his questions.

"i-i dont know. I have to give up my miraculous, Adrien. As much as I want to be Ladybug and as much as i want to be here, I cant. I simply cant. Im sorry Adrien." I started fighting back tears as I saw Adrien start crying. I could tell he was trying to be strong for me, but I couldn't stay strong. I gave him a kiss on the cheek and ran back to the bakery practically letting go of every ounce of water in my body, leaving trails on the pavement with my tears. This absolutely killed me.

For some reson Chloe texted me.

C- 'So Dupain-Cheng, I heard your moving to LA.'

M-' Yes Chloe, why do you care anyways?'

C- 'Well, now that you will be out of the picture, I only have Lila and Kagami to look out for. Then I can have my Adrikins to myself.'

I should have known this was all an act to get her hands on Adrien. Im not going to lie and say I didnt try to persuade my parents to let me stay but it made no difference. This was killing me.

M- 'Whatever Chloe'

I knew i had to see Master Fu. I knew I had to say goodbye to Tikki and give up my kwami, my best friend. I decided to do this a week before I left so Master could have some time to find a new Ladybug and give her time to get used to her powers. As I said, this whole situation crushed me. But before I knew it, I found myself at Master Fu's house.

"Oh hello Marinette! What seems to be the problem?" He knew there was a problem not only did my face say it but the man was very wise and he knows how to decipher emotions.

"Mater Fu, I am very sorry but my parents are forcing me to move to America. I cant be Ladybug anymore." I said with tears as I started to take my earrings off.

He immediatly stopped my hands from going any further to take them off. He said with a smile "Marinette, keep the miraculous. America is a little far but you never know where evil will come from."

"But Master, without the Ladybug miraculous, Cat Noir can't purify the Akuma's! Even if he destroys the item holding the Akuma! He also cant restore things to the way it was beside from my miraculous ladybug!"

"Oh marinette, he could always Cataclysm the Akuma and Bunnix could go back in time to fix the damage. As you said, there is a solution to every problem."

"Master Fu are you sure?" I wanted to be sure that this wasn't a problem.

"I have never been so sure about any miraculous holder in my life. And unless I were to claim somebody else as the new guardian, there is nothing to worry about. If I ever do make that decision, i will let you know so you can then, and only then, give me back your miraculous." He somehow still had a smile on his face and as I was crying Tikki came out of my purse and nuzzled her cheek on to mine attempting to hug me and calm me down. I was so grateful that I didnt have to give up my best friend.

"Thank you Master Fu! I owe you!" I said as I attacked him with a bear hug. I was ecstatic that Tikki was mine for a little while longer. The only problem I had was Alya and Adrien.

Gosh. Alya ran off before I could even explain myself. Unsurprisingly, Mater Fu knew there was a problem again.

"Marinette, as of your friend and Cat Noir, just explain yourself to her and if Cat Noir really loves you, which we all know he does, then he will understand. Trust me." Master Fu tried to reassure me as i was deep in thought.

"I will miss you Master Fu! And I will miss Cat Noir deeply. Will you please make sure he doesn't hate me after this?"

"Marinette, he could never hate you but of course I will talk to the boy." I was still in shock as to how he could always have a smile on his face even while hearing the worst news.

I always dreamed of becoming the guardian of the miraculous but now I know that all of my dreams were no more. I could never be a fashion designer for the Agreste brand, I could never marry Adrien, and I could never be the guardian of the Miraculous.

*Master Fu's POV (really short sry)*

I saw that Marinette was deep in thought. I sort of knew what it was about. I knew she wanted to be the gaurdian and that is what she will be. Well at least not yet. I have this whole plan!

I would tell her (in 2-5 years of course) that I plan on making another miraculous holder the gaurdian, and when she comes to return the Miraculous, I will claim her as the new guardian as it was a half truth. I would tell her that another miraculous holder would be the new guardian. And she was a miraculous holder after all. As of her other problems, I couldn't help her. I would make sure that Cat Noir wouldn't hold a grudge but as of her designing dreams went, that was out of my lane.

*Time skip 1 week (travel day) Third Person POV*

"Wow Tikki! I cant believe Master Fu let me keep you! I am so happy that I get to keep my best friend!" It was the morning of the flight and I was getting ready as I made sure Tikki knew how much she means to me.

"I know! Master Fu never does something like that! I am forever in his debt for being able to stay with you! You are the best Ladybug I have ever known!"

Marinette went to take a quick shower with her outfit already planned and her suitcase already packed.

It was now 9 am and the flight leaves at 10. It was time to leave since she didn't want to be late. As her mother was putting her daughters luggage in the taxi, Marinette looked at her mother with such hate. If looks were capable of speaking you would have clearly heard 'Why must I go? Why couldnt you go? Why must you have ruined my life like this! Why did Papa have to get sick?' and other questions like that. Adrien was there to give her a last goodbye. Alya couldn't bring herself to go see her best friend leave her as she went to another continent! Marinette was sad because her best friend didn't come but she understood why. 

She pulled Adrien aside and told him that she was able to keep the miraculous and that she would keep in touch on her bug phone. Of course she also told him that if he ever needed her, just to call her and she would be on the first available flight back to Paris to help fight!

Sadly, the two had to break up because long distance never works out, but they promised each other that she would return one day and when they are reunited, they would pick up where they left off since their hearts still belonged to one another. Of course they would miss each other. But it had to be done. Adrien of all people should understand about having to fill in the family business. But it still broke his heart.

As the taxi driver honked the horn due to him losing patience, the two superheros shared one last kiss as a reassurance of their love for one another. The she got into the taxi not even looking at her mother and started crying as she left. 

*in the flight* 

Marinette went to the bathroom just to speak with Tikki. She was in a depressed state and needed some positivity from her best friend to cheer her up. Tikki tried her hardest to cheer up the lonely teen and it only worked in the slightest of ways but after that they went back to their seat and waited to land and go 'home'.
