"Hey! Stop slacking on the job! What am I paying you for?", an shout full of energy and somewhat intimidating but it wasn't nearly enough to break the focus of certain pink haired person who was leaning comfortably on her chair with her boots on the table, all while she kept hitting her own head with the tip of a pencil and held a notebook in hand.
"Shush, you don't even pay me, Gen... In fact, we don't even receive paychecks", Natsuki said not bothering to look at the school cap man who entered the small room. "That's true haha", Gensai chuckled.
"Then? What are you up to? You look very focused there", Gensai asked trying to walk around Natsuki and peek at her notebook. "Shoo, it's not done yet", Natsuki quickly put down the notebook on her stomach to hide what was there.
"Trying your hand at drawing or what?", Gensai asked. He simply complied and went to stand next to a big rectangular window, almost as wide as the wall and from which the open area of a green forest could be seen.
"Nah, just poetry again... Tomorrow it's our anniversary, remember?", Natsuki asked. "Ah! You're right! Are you gonna hold a party or something?", Gensai said smiling excited.
"No, I don't think so... Not this year at least but I wanna give her something special", Natsuki replied. She was back to her writing again. "So that's what's the poem for?", Gensai asked.
"Yeah, we were talking a few nights ago and she told me she missed those days in the literature club. You know, exchanging poems, read stuff together... With all we've been through, we barely ever do any of that anymore", Natsuki explained and sighed.
"I see. I'm sure she'll love it then", Gensai replied. "Yeah, I'll make sure of that and for that I need your help", Natsuki said serious, pointing at the school cap one with her pencil.
"Sure thing! What am I good for?", Gensai replied with a classic crooked teeth grin. "Jazz is coming earlier today to start her shift, you and I will go outside", Natsuki said.
"Outside?", Gensai asked cooking an eyebrow a bit confused. "Yeah, I saw a place where lilies bloom last time we went out, not too far from here, Monika told me those were a classic for anniversaries", Natsuki replied.
"Well, if Monika says it then it must be true haha", Gensai chuckled. "Alright! Don't forget to bring your staff, just in case", Natsuki said excited. She hoped just one thing from all of this and that was to see her beloved one smile.

Natsuki couldn't sleep too well due to her own excitement.
Everything so far had gone great. She had managed to revive her writing skills, she had chosen the perfect book and her little trip outside had gone without any major complications aside from one they took care of quickly.
Despite her lack of sleep and her aversion to wake up early, she still did her best to make sure she was up before her purple haired lover.
Quietly and making sure to not wake her or her other equally beloved girl sleeping in the room in front of hers, she made her way to their little kitchen and while still rubbing her sleepy eyes, she grabbed the necessary ingredients from the pantry and although beating the mix was a bit tedious due to the little noise she could make, in the end everything went smoothly.
Natsuki was finally ready.
She excitedly made her way back to her room where her loved one still slept with soothing calm. One hand carried a tray, the other a bouquet of flowers and next to their bed, on the little night table, she had already left a thick book and a paper sheet ready for her to take.
She approached the sleeping beauty of purple girl and looked at her for a moment. She smiled.
Natsuki then leaned down carefully and pressed her lips against hers and to make that morning perfect, like that old tale, Yuri was finally awaken from her slumber with that kiss of her true love.
"Mmm? Natsuki?", Yuri mumbled with a soft and sleepy voice. The unmistakable sweet taste of her lover's lips was enough for her to know. "Wakey wakey purple cakey!", Natsuki sang cutely as she rubbed the lily flowers on Yuri's face playfully.
"Wah! Natsuki wait! It tickles! Hehehe~", Yuri started giggling as the soft lilies tickled her nose. "Shh! You'll wake her up!", Natsuki scolded in whispers.
"Ah! I-I'm sorry!", Yuri did what she did best. "Pfft", Natsuki shook her head and grinned.
"Here, just take them", Natsuki said offering the flower bouquet to her girl had now sit up and rubbed her eyes a bit. "A-Are these because of...?", Once Yuri got a more clear look at the lily flowers, her eyes went wide and sparkly, constantly switching from the bouquet in her hands to the smiley pink haired one still standing next to her.
"Duh! Of course you dummy!", Natsuki rolled her eyes with a smile to then lean down once again and press her lips to Yuri's, tenderly and lovingly caressing them with hers to the pull away and say, "Happy anniversary".
"Happy anniversary, my love", Yuri's smile said it all. Love and gratefulness was what she expressed, the smile of someone who felt truly blessed.
However, realization finally reached Yuri's nose two seconds later as she sniffed and said, "are those...?". Natsuki then put the tray on Yuri's lap and said with an incredulous smile, "you just realized?".
There on the tray there was none other than 17 cupcakes lined up one pink, one purple, one pink, one purple and so on with one frost made letter that adorned each of them so it read:
Happy
Anniversary ♡
Yuri's first reaction to the adorable and very Natsuki-ish detail was covering her mouth with both hands to hide her fool and loving smile, her eyes shined brighter and then she stuttered from how moved she was, "t-this is so sweet of you!".
She wanted to stand up and hugged her tight, fill her face with kisses until her heart was satisfied but she couldn't do just that, the cupcakes on her lap may fall after all, the thought made her chuckle.
"Well, I'm not done with the surprises yet babe. Do you remember where would we usually eat these back in the day?", Natsuki asked as she walked around to go and sit next to her lover on the bed, leaning on the headboard and a pillow like her.
"My house?", Yuri asked. "Close but no", Natsuki replied, wrapping her arm around Yuri's shoulder and pulling her closer to her, Yuri just snuggled careful of not dropping the tray.
"Mmm the literature club?", Yuri asked while she kissed Natsuki's temple softly. "Coooorrect!", Natsuki exclaimed and kissed her cheek in reward. Yuri giggled.
"You know what else comes with the literature club? Tada!", Natsuki then grabbed the paper sheet on the night table next to her and waved it in Yuri's face. "Is this... A-A poem??", Yuri asked perplexed as she grabbed the paper while Natsuki took the flowers from her hands and put them on her own lap meanwhile.
"Yep! Give it a read, this one's for you", Natsuki flashed her fangs at her with a cute grin. Yuri looked at her with droopy loving eyes and nodded, snuggling against Natsuki's neck to comfortably read while being in the arms of the one she loved even more now.
Yuri's first reaction once she finished reading Natsuki's poem was one.
She smiled.
"Natsuki...", Yuri said with a soft voice while nuzzling her cheek on her lover's neck. "Did you like it?", Natsuki asked a bit nervous.
"I love you so, so, so, so very much... I am so lucky to have you. Every day you make me fall in love with you more and more but today you outdid yourself. Please, please, stay with me forever and ever and love me until the end of time", Yuri simply spoke her heart out.
"G-Geez... Next time just say "yes, I did" or something you cheese monster", Natsuki sighed with a smile. "Mmmmgh", Yuri whined on Natsuki's neck.
"I know, I know... I love you so much too you idiot, more than anything in the world, more than anything in the universe and that won't ever change", Natsuki grabbed Yuri's chin between her index and thumb, lifting her face to look at her in the eye and once she was done, she sealed the promise with a tender kiss full of love.
"Thank you", Yuri said and reincorporated to finally enjoy the cupcakes with her girl but Natsuki had one more thing to say. Now it was her who snuggled closer to Yuri and allowed Yuri to wrap an arm around her to embrace her close to her heart.
"I smile, Yuri... Even after all we've been through, all the chaos, all the sorrow, all the sadness, all the struggle... I was and am still able to smile because you're always there for me and as long as you're by my side, I will always be able to smile... I truly love you, Yuri, beyond the Infinity", Natsuki now spoke her heart out.
Yuri's response didn't come through words.
The purple one wrapped her arms around the pink one, bringing her closer. Natsuki nuzzled her head on Yuri's chest, she wanted to listen to her heart beat for her. Yuri and Natsuki closed their eyes and allowing themselves to get lost in the warmth and softness of each other's body until their hearts were satisfied.
"I'm hungry", Natsuki said once they pulled away. "What are we waiting for then!", Yuri exclaimed cheerfully. Natsuki was about to grab a cupcake but Yuri quickly pushed her hand away and grabbed on herself.
"No, no, allow me", Yuri said as she smiled sweetly and moved the cupcake towards Natsuki's mouth. "Are you really gonna-", Natsuki was cut off.
"My darling, say "ah"~", Yuri said and Natsuki sighed with smiled but she still complied, taking a bite of the cupcake she made for her lover, mentally congratulating herself for another great job there.
"So cute~", Yuri said melodically and slowly took a bite on the same spot Natsuki bit. The pink girl quickly glared at her but Yuri just smiled innocently. She knew Natsuki was just joking and after swallowing, she gave Natsuki another quick kiss on the cheek.
"Ah, I almost forgot... we can't go on with the literature game without this!", Natsuki said as she pulled the last part of her plan from the night table and showed it to Yuri. A book with an eye on the cover.
"Portrait of Markov...", Yuri said almost in trance. "Yeah, I did all of this based on what you told me the other night... About how we barely did any of this things anymore, so... I hope with this your hunger for lit stuff if satisfied", Natsuki explained looking away and blushing lightly.
"What did I ever do to deserve such a thoughtful and pretty wife!", Yuri exclaimed and buried her face happy on Natsuki's shoulder while hugging her tight. "You better treasure me!", Natsuki said proud and jokingly at the same time.
"How can you make me love you so much?", Yuri asked while filling Natsuki's cheek with kisses. "Calm your tits and let's read, Yuri", Natsuki chuckled.
Eating cupcakes and reading together like in the good old days, that was how they spent the morning of their anniversary.
