6: I made you retreat!
September 12th 2017
"Then? Why did you want to talk to me?", the girl of the beanie hat leaning on the wall next to the vending machine asked with crossed arms. "I guess I'm just a bit worried", the school cap boy replied while he picked something to buy from the machine.
"Did you find something??", Jasmine immediately jolted to the front standing next to Gensai now to whisper those words with eager. "That's precisely what I'm worried about", Gensai chuckled.
"I'm not getting what you're trying to say...", Jasmine tilted her head confused. "Listen, I respect you're a hard worker and all but you should really take a little breather every now and then", Gensai replied as he pressed the buttons for his snack and inserted the coin into the machine.
"I'm getting my 8 hours of sleep thank you... Sometimes...", the brown haired girl looked to the side with crossed arms a bit troubled. "Since you're here, in this school, at least try to make the most of it, not a lot of people have this chance", the one of the school cap replied as he crouched to pick his chocolate bar.
"Make the most of it? What exactly I'm not doing for you to say that?", Jasmine asked. "For starters, why don't you join a club? That'd be a nice way to kill time and have some fun during the day, you know chill out a little bit", Gensai explained.
"A club huh...? What club could I even join? There's a lot in this school...", The beanie hat girl sighed conflicted. "Well you know which one not to join at least. Anyways, just think about it, ight? I'm heading back with my pals now or Sayori will scold me for pulling out a Natsuki", Gensai said and proceeded to turn around and raise his hand as he walked to say bye for now.
Jasmine stood there with crossed arms and closed eyes deep in thought for a moment to then simply let out a quiet sigh and walk to somewhere else.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
The day had been quite calmed for the pink and purple girls so far. Yuri joined Natsuki and her group during lunch once again but everything happened without any major issues.
However, what the day had in store for them awaited for the time the literature club reunited once again.
As it was at this point a fact, Yuri had arrived first followed by Erika and Omiko, noticing they were more clingy with each other everyday. But the purple girl waited for no one else but that second year of pink hair and feisty attitude to be there at any moment.
As soon as she heard the ruckus caused by Sayori bouncing through the hallway talking about God knows what, Yuri knew she was coming too.
But the smile of anticipation and air kicking legs under the desk the purple girl had vanished to a void of emptiness the moment Natsuki crossed the door with a taller tanned skinned girl clinged to her by the neck.
"Let go of me already! You're heavy!", Natsuki exclaimed as she tried to walk with Haru still wrapping her arms around her neck. "Okay~", Haru easily accepted letting Natsuki roll her shoulders and neck to relax.
As she watched, the purple girl had a different reaction from the usual that herself didn't notice. She had been unconsciously pouting while rapidly running her fingers through a strand of purple hair, her body and head feeling as if there was so much heat it was unbearable.
"Hey guys!", Monika's voice suddenly echoed throughout the room and after a quick hug from Sayori, everyone else spoke their greetings to her. "Okay everyone~ I feel like sharing poems early today so let's get to it shall we?", the brunette then announced with the happiest smile as she made her way to the teacher's desk.
"Moni-chan~", Haru raised her hand. "Yes?", Monika asked with a smile.
"I didn't write my poem~ well more like I couldn't hehe", Haru scratched her head and stuck out her tongue cutely. "Oh and why if I may ask?", The club president asked concerned.
"I don't really know how... Do you think we can postpone the poem sharing for the end of the hour and have someone teach me how to?", Haru asked with pleading puppy eyes and hands like praying.
"Of course! Natsuki, please teach her everything she needs to know about writing a poem", Monika said to the pink girl who had begun making her way to the middle of the room, quickly turning around with nothing but shock on her cute face.
"What?! Why me?!", Natsuki asked outraged. "Because you're a veteran literature club member and poem writer, I'm sure you'll be fine teaching", with nothing but a carefree smile on her face, Monika replied.
"Then why don't you teach her instead?!", Natsuki asked in her classic feisty way. "I have paper work to take care of~", Monika replied.
"Then Sayori could-", Natsuki tried to protest but the club president was faster. "I need her help with that~", Monika melodically spoke as she wrapped an arm around the nearby bubbly girl and pulled her closer to the teacher's desk.
"Then tell Omiko or Erika to do it!", Exclaimed the feisty one. "They still are rookies on that matter, plus look at them", Monika pointed at them lifting her chin a bit.
Natsuki turned around only to see the mint green haired girl resting her head on the black haired girl's shoulder while she ran her fingers through her long hair tenderly as both read together.
"Th- You- I- Wh- Aaah! Okay fine!", Natsuki threw a tantrum for a bit. "Oh~ why didn't you propose Yuri to take your place~?", Monika grabbed her chin grinning smugly.
"Ah! I-I... Beca- Fucking Monikammmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm!!!", Natsuki gripped her fists and lowered her head as is she was about to go super saiyan but then stormed her way to the blackboard and grabbed a wooden eraser, raising it high and aiming for the white ribbon girl.
"The school's furniture and equipment is not for you to be playing with", a familiar voice said from behind the pink girl as the eraser was taken from her hand by the white haired girl that appeared out of nowhere.
"You again...", Monika grunted annoyed. "Hey! You should at least thank me! I just saved you from a concussion and a report for damaging the school equipment!", Tsurugi exclaimed outraged pointing at Monika with the eraser.
"If you don't have anything important to say then leave, I don't want you to keep ruining my good mood", Monika shooed the girl of the white buns. "I told you to-", the student council president started to say but stopped abruptly as the blond gyaru walked over to the club president and began running her hand through her hair gently.
"There, there, smile, come on!", Haru said in baby talking manner which managed to pull out a smile from the white ribbon girl. "Like I care about this dumb club anyway!!", The white haired girl furiously put almost slamming the eraser where it was and then stormed out of the clubroom, slamming the door close behind her.
"What's wrong with her?", Haru asked confused. "Beats me... She's just a very moody girl I guess", Monika shrugged off the topic.
"Then Natsuki, Haru and I are counting on you!", Monika clapped her hands happily. "Okay, fi-", Natsuki was about to sigh to show her clear annoyance before being interrupted once again.
"And you better wear your uniform correctly tomorrow or I'll get you suspended, you hear me?!", as everyone turned their attention to the door that suddenly opened as the white haired girl snuck half of her body inside, angrily yelling and pointing at the blond gyaru to then slam the door close once again and leave for good.
=================
With less than 20 minutes remaining and no signs of her returning anytime soon as everytime the purple girl discreetly turned around to see the pink girl and her blond clubmate in the back, the gyaru was everytime closer to Natsuki, now resting her head on Natsuki's shoulder at this point while gently running her finger across her arm while Natsuki spoke and repeatedly moved Haru's finger off her.
"Looks like she didn't get the message yesterday", the purple girl jumped startled as a familiar voice suddenly spoke. "E-Erika?", Yuri nervously asked as she turned her head to the side to see the twintailed girl sitting next to her with crossed arms.
"Before you say she's busy and all of that. Almost 40 minutes is enough time to teach how to write a poem, so go there and get your girl back", Erika slammed her hands against the desk while glaring at the purple girl.
"Y-You're right, I know what to do", to her surprise, Yuri didn't protest against it and quickly accepted what she had to do, nodding and getting up from her seat with a determined expression on her pretty face. Erika simply smiled satisfied and went back to her seat next to Omiko.
"Hi", Yuri politely said as she approached Natsuki who once again looked at her with a relieved smile before replying, "hey Yuri".
"How are doing so far, Haru? Is writing a poem difficult for you?", Yuri asked with an strange confidence herself didn't expect. "A little~ You're saying I'm dumb?", Haru asked pouting sad.
"E-Eh, n-no, that's not w-what I...", but once again, she found the way to bring down Yuri's odd outburst of confidence. "Natsuki-chi is a great teacher though, I assure you I'll learn eventually", Haru smiled cutely as she wrapped her arms around Natsuki's head and pulled her onto her gifted chest while the pink girl tried to pull away from her.
"It's good you're determined to do so because I'm here to help", Yuri's confidence suddenly returned to the blond girl's surprise. "Nnngh! Yeah! Yuri is great at this thing, her poems are always fancy and great so I'm sure she...", Natsuki began to ramble proud as she finally managed to break free but her words sank into silence as she noticed the purple girl was now staring at her with sparkly dreamy violet eyes and of course a great blush on her face.
While Natsuki didn't figure it out why at that moment, it was clear that Yuri's chest was all tingly at the time as she listened to the pink girl praise her writing she put so much effort on so sincerely.
Of course, the pink girl's face flushed immediately as her lips began to quiver trying to get the words out of her mouth again but became down right impossible as Yuri then granted her the sweetest smile which made her look as if she was shining in the magenta eyes of the pink one.
"I too have plenty of experience in writing, so tell me anything you have trouble with and I'll do my best to help you", Yuri confidently said to the blond girl. "Mmm~ I think I got a grip of it now, thanks Natsuki-chi~", Haru melodically spoke and heat patted Natsuki before getting up and humming as she went to the teacher's desk with Monika and Sayori.
"Man... She's real-!!", Natsuki let out a long sigh and began to spoke but her heart almost collapsed as she felt another hand belonging to a purple haired beauty patting her head a bit shy. "S-Seems you're a good teacher", Yuri smiled awkwardly as she pulled back her hand.
"W-Why did you do that?!", Natsuki the red faced girl exclaimed. "I-I-I'm so sorry!! I-I just thought since s-she did it too tha-", Yuri the nervous mess outbursted her apology.
"Whatever! It's fine! Stop apologizing!", Natsuki grabbed Yuri by the collar of her blazer and began to shake her. "O-OkaaAaAY!",Yuri replied the best she could.
"Geez...", Natsuki sighed again as she let go of her. "I-I won't do it again", Yuri looked to the floor ashamed.
"I never said you shouldn't", Natsuki huffed with crossed arms and looked away. Yuri, now more used to her tsundere manners, soon got that and giggled inevitably happy.
=================
"Yo, Gen. Ryou... I see you're here again...", the pink girl with her purple clubmate and friend behind said as she approached her school cap friend waiting for her near the gates, noticing the pretty boy was with him again.
"Hello", Yuri said politely. "Hi, girls, I just forgot to give Gensai-san this manga he lent me earlier so I waited for him to finish his club activities", Ryou explained with a cute smile as he showed a manga with a bunch of muscular men wearing old fashioned school uniforms and raising a flag with the kanji of "man".
"As you can see, my dude Ryou appreciates good manga, unlike others...", Gensai stuck out his tongue at the pink girl. "Tch, I see you're ruining him with your weird ass manga BUT unlike you two idiots, Yuri here does appreciate the real good manga", Natsuki said proud as she patted Yuri's shoulder.
"I-I do?", Yuri asked confused. "Yes you do!", Natsuki exclaimed.
"She's reading the whole parfait girls series now and she's hooked I tell ya", Natsuki crossed her arms proud. "I am?", Yuri's epitaph was confusion now.
"Yes you are!", Natsuki exclaimed once again. "Heh~ and what's your favorite part so far Yuri-san?", Ryou excitedly asked suddenly, making everyone look at him surprised.
"A-Ah... I just happened to read that one when I was younger ahaha...", Ryou laughed nervous and blushed lightly. "Seems he's not a lost cause after all", Natsuki grinned smugly at Gensai.
"So what's your favorite part, Yuri-chan?", Gensai grinned back at Natsuki and asked the purple girl. "E-Eh... Well...", Yuri of course didn't know what to say, much less with all this pressure on her.
"She doesn't have to answer to you! Anyways, let's go or it'll get late", Natsuki quickly saved her and began to head outside. "Late?", Yuri asked confused.
"Na-! Y-You know, it'll get dark and no one wants to walk when it's dark haha...", Natsuki was caught off guard but managed to reply. "There's still two hours until it gets dark though... You live that far??", Yuri asked concerned.
"Yeah! I live reaaaaally far! So let's get going!", Natsuki began to sweat. "Wait, before that I got a question for you two", Gensai said.
"I told you she doesn't have to answer anything to you!", the pink girl replied with great feast. "Not about that, about your club", the school cap boy laughed.
"What about it?", Natsuki asked now relieved. "Seeing that Ryou is such an avid reader, why haven't you invited him to join?", Gensai asked with crossed arms full of curiosity.
"Ah- well... I guess because I didn't want any boys in...", Natsuki rubbed the back of her neck awkwardly. "W-Why not?", Yuri asked curious.
"Because not, okay?!", Natsuki's feast was at its highest. "But mah boy Ryou is not any boy! He's proven to be cool right?", Gensai grinned and wrapped an arm around the shorter boy's shoulder, which brought a light blush on his cheeks, something that wouldn't go unnoticed by the pink girl's sixth sense.
"Hmmm... Well I guess you're right... Okay, I'll make an exception. Ryou, remind me to take you with us tomorrow after class", Natsuki commanded. "O-Okay...", Ryou couldn't go against the feisty one.
"Wahahaha! This way we can walk home together every day now, don't you think dude?", Gensai patted the wine red haired boy's back friendly and granted him a crooked teeth grin just as friendly as Natsuki could very well see his nervousness now.
==================
After bidding adiu to the purple girl, Natsuki was soon talking to her two friends as they headed to their respective destinations but a few minutes into the walk, Natsuki heard and felt something buzzing inside her blazer's pocket.
"Mm? It's Yuri...", Natsuki said after pulling out her phone and see the notification of a new text message. "Reply to her, I'll make sure you don't bump into anyone or anything while you do", Gensai chuckled.
"I was gonna do it with or without your help! Hmph!", the tsundere within her spoke and soon began to type.
"Alright girls, meet our new member! This is Ryou, he's in our class too", Natsuki grinned proud. "Yep! He's one of our friends so please give him a warm welcome!", Sayori exclaimed placing her hands on Ryou's shoulders to show him to the world.
"Nice to meet you all, I'm Ryou Hatsumi... But I didn't say I was going to join yet...", The pretty boy tried to raise his hand to protest. "Yes you did! Now go and sign that paper!!", Natsuki commanded with great feast.
"Okay!!", Ryou startledly replied and hurried to the teacher's desk where Monika awaited with the proper form of application. "Well! Just 3 more to go! Right, Tsurugi?", Monika shouted as she glanced at the white haired girl peeking outside the door.
The student council president quickly averted her gaze and with great blush she ran away. "Ha! That felt good!", Monika grinned.
"Natsuki-chi~ I need your help today with my poem, I don't know if I did it right~", Haru then turned her attention to the pink girl and began walking towards her, however, her surprise was big as she stopped abruptly.
"I'm sorry but Natsuki and I have something to do", surrounded by surprised looks and a red bow girl gripping Monika's shoulder hard to contain her urges to scream, Yuri boldly made her claim, hooking her arm with Natsuki's.
"I-isn't that right?", Yuri asked gradually back to her shy self but still clinged to the pink haired tomato's arm. "Y-Yeah! Sorry but ask someone else!", Natsuki managed to grin happy.
"Alrighty~", just as unexpected, Haru smiled in a way that a few of the other members could only describe as "satisfied".
"S-Sorry about that", Yuri smiled awkwardly as she let go of Natsuki's arm. "Don't worry, now come on, I'll show you the real literature!", so happy as she hadn't been in a long time, the pink girl returned the favor turning Yuri into a purple haired tomato as she grabbed her hand and dragged her to the closet in the back where she stored her manga.
There is not much to say as the scenario of Natsuki showing Yuri her manga, both full of smiles and joy, happened just as anyone would expect.
But while all of this happened in the literature club, a lone girl wandered around the school.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
"Aaaaand anime club out! Too many simps there ugh", the beanie hat girl spoke to herself trembling a bit disgusted. "Why am I even doing this...", she sighed as she folded her list of clubs to consider she had made last night after checking on the afore mentioned club.
"Well, I just need to check out the tennis club and if that doesn't seem fun, then sorry Gen but I tried", Jasmine spoke as she stretched her arms while she headed out of the building to the back courtyard.
...
"Ehhh they're going a bit soft on those rackets...", Jasmine said as she looked from outside the tennis court at their exhibition match or practice match, she really couldn't tell the difference but either way, she wasn't that impressed.
"Game-set-match! Points in Nakano's favor. Good job guys!", One of the members serving as an official of the match between a boy and a girl announced and soon they were dismissed to take a little break.
Kiai!
"I guess that's abou- huh?!", the beanie hat girl continued to spoke outloud but as the surroundings went quieter, a voice, more like a yell all too familiar reached her ears as she too kept quiet to see if it was indeed her imagination.
Kiai!
Kiai!
Kiai!
"Nope, I'm not crazy yet. Where is that...?", Jasmine began to look around consumed by curiosity and nostalgia at the same time but soon seemed to have found the source of that yell.
Right at the other side of the tennis court across herself, there seemed to be a narrow space that wasn't easy for the eyes to see at first sight as the banners and signs of the tennis clubs hanging on the grille wouldn't let you.
There, her sharp red eyes managed to see a single person wearing an all white outfit she very well knew while she seemed to punch something with great enthusiasm.
Jasmine didn't really think that much then as she quickly made her way inside the court. "Hey! You came to check out our club?", One of the tennis club members started to approach her as she stood there for a bit looking for a door that lead her to that narrow space.
"Ah no, not really", Jasmine absently replied, completely ignoring the boy or girl, she didn't even know really and soon found her way quickly walking towards there.
"Osu...", Jasmine said as she snuck her head outside to that narrow space behind the tennis court, finally able to see better the indeed girl that was yelling.
"Kiai! Kiai! Kiai!", legs well planted on the ground, back straight, looking to the front and punching the air with a straight right one, two, three and up to ten times as she yelled with every attack was a girl of light brown eyes, black hair a little bit down her shoulders wearing a red bow hairband and a karate gi, worth notice remarkable beauty too.
"Mm? Eh?", as soon as she finished the girl turned her head to the left and finally saw a beanie hat girl of brown short hair looking at her with her red eyes and hands on her blazer's pockets. "Eh?", Jasmine replied as well, tilting her head.
"A-A-Ah! Welcome!", the black haired girl nervous as she spoke still managed to bow properly. Jasmine simply smiled and bowed back.
"Emm... What can I do for you?", cutely shy but still polite, the karate gi girl asked. "Eh, I guess my first question should be... Is this the karate club?", Jasmine asked.
"Yes, it is", the bow hairband girl replied and nodded. "Ohhh, I read there was one but you know, I kinda imagine it'd be a bit different haha...", the beanie hat girl awkwardly laughed.
"I-Is that so?", the black haired girl replied smiling just as awkward. "Anyways! That aside, I'm Jasmine, nice to meet ya!", the beanie hat girl grinned and threw a peace sign.
"Emm, I'm Kanae Tanzaki, nice to meet you too", the black haired girl bowed again. "Are you really the only member?", Jasmine asked awkwardly looking around the narrow space seeing there's was no one else but them two indeed.
"W-We actually are 5 members but I'm the only one that shows up... Plus I'm the club's president", Kanae replied nervously rubbing her hands and looking at the ground. "How come?", Jasmine asked curious.
"It's complicated...", Kanae replied with an awkward smile but the beanie hat girl didn't fail to see the sorrowful expression behind. "Well, I sure know training is more fun and effective when you do it with someone else rather than doing it alone", Jasmine grinned.
"Emm... Y-You are considering to join?", Kanae asked now with nothing but expectation on her pretty face. "Mmmmm I guess", the beanie hat girl shrugged still grinning.
"If you can beat me that is", Kanae's voice for sure spoke but it almost sounded different not only for the words she said but for the cold tone she spoke with, making Jasmine take her hands out of her pockets instinctively.
"What was that?", Jasmine asked still not losing her cool as she continued to grin confident. "No-Nothing! It was nothing!", Kanae quickly replied and covered her mouth.
"No, no, you want to test me? Go ahead", Jasmine calmly kicked her shoes off and approached the black haired girl feeling a little bit fired up all of sudden. "You know what? If you manage to make me retreat or move out of this spot, I'll join, deal?", Jasmine asked confident.
"I'll mop the floor with that hat of yours!", uncovering her mouth Kanae replied with a devious confident smile. "Ready when you are", Jasmine said taking her stance.
Without further ado, Kanae threw a spinning back kick Jasmine simply got down to avoid and swept the girl's foot with her hand. But Kanae avoided the fall as she quickly pushed herself back up with her hands and threw a bicycle kick at Jasmine's face using that momentum.
The beanie hat girl caught her ankle in time however and went for a take down but the black haired girl quickly jumped and kicked Jasmine's chest to break free.
The brown haired girl had to tense her pectoral muscles and strengthen her legs to not lose balance and back off by that hard impact but before she could recover, Kanae was already going for more.
The black haired girl threw a barrage of strikes, from straights and hooks to low and high round house kicks that Jasmine managed to guard in time for and soon started to deviate with her mastered guarding, still on the same position she was when they started as Kanae was now smiling fired up at her while she attacked and Jasmine blocked.
Kanae retreated and charged for running savate kick which the beanie hat girl was ready to dodge to then bring her down, however she didn't expect the black haired to suddenly land right in front of her and look at her quiet conflicted.
Jasmine hesitated and dropped her guard as she noticed Kanae's now nervous expression but faster than the blink of an eye, that devious smile came back as she landed a palm strike right on her solar plexus that almost knocked the air out of her but still, she remained on her spot somehow.
However Kanae grabbed her by the collar of her blazer and shifted her hips towards Jasmine ready for the throw but the beanie hat girl was quick to shift her own body and use Kanae's own position to throw her over her shoulders with a fireman's carry.
And yet, the black haired girl felt no pain as she landed soft on the ground as the beanie hat girl easily controlled her fall and despite all of that she smiled and remained laying on the ground with a big confident grin as she pointed at the brown haired girl and spoke.
"I made you retreat!", Kanae exclaimed proud which brought Jasmine to realize she had indeed moved out of her spot to control Kanae's fall.
"Dammit", Jasmine chuckled and offered her hand to the black haired girl who to her surprise, took it for her to help her back up. "You're not so bad", Kanae smugly smiled.
"I-I mean you're really good, have you practiced Karate before?", odd enough, the black haired girl suddenly went back to her polite and cutely shy self nervously waving her hand. "Yeah, my dad taught me", Jasmine replied shrugging off that strange behavior for now.
"I see", Kanae replied with a sweet smile. "Guess I'm a member of your club now huh?", the beanie hat girl said grinning happy.
"Y-You really don't have to if you don't want to!", Kanae nervously agitated her arms in denying motion. "A deal's a deal, plus you seem like fun", Jasmine smiled with her hands on her hips.
"R-Really?", Kanae blushed lightly as she nervously rubbed her hands and looked at the ground. "Really", Jasmine couldn't help but giggle at the adorable yet unexpectedly strong girl before her.
